Arya's arc got a pretty good end too Edit: I no longer believe this. When I wrote it, I was referring to the fact that relative to what happened to most of the characters, her getting to kill the night king, while a terrible decision, meant her training had some use, and her whole "what's west of westeros" ended up being where her character ended up. That being said, a character not being treated as stupidly as others doesn't make it good.

@22:44 -- The Kingsmoot that happens in the show is the first one to happen in more than 100 years. A Kingsmoot has not been the standard for transitioning power in several generations. The Damp Hair (the head Drown God priest and Theon's Uncle) calls for a Kingsmoot after praying about it.The fact that everyone rallied around the idea shows how popular returning to the Old Way of everything, not just the pirate shit, is with the Iron Born. This is why Euron is able to win the Kingsmoot by promising them the world.

12:40 - Yes, she should have keeled over and died immediately, that's exactly the point. She goes to sleep naked, without her necklace, with only a small fire in a small hearth and what looks like only one fur on that bed. The only way for her to not die under those conditions is if the Red God chooses to keep either, or more likely both, of those flames alive for her sake. If her god has no further use for her in this life, and she was wrong about her role in the Long Night, she doesn't want to live, she's basically doing the fire priestess equivalent of turning in her gun and badge and then walking slowly to the elevator to give the chief of police time to stop her from quitting.

to be fair...Viserys was threatening the life of Khal Drogo's son in front of everyone including the Khal in order to be executed via molten gold...not just any kind of violence with a weapon... and I'm still wondering what the High Sparrow's end game was...he was using Tommen as his pawn to bring back a theocracy, but he was also insistent that Cersei completely be put on trial for the "rumors" of Tommen being Jaime's son (which would make Tommen an illigimate pawn)

  • @peaceblossom8

I could imagine that his end game was to manipulate the trial in such a way that Cersei was found innocent, like by naming false witnesses who would give false accounts. That way he would've kept Tommen as king. However Cersei would've known exactly that the witnesses were false and that she was basically at his mercy. So he also would've had ensured that she wouldn't act up against him.

1:38:00 Ah, yes, the scene where I realised there truly was no going back - that the showrunners hadn't just made a bunch of bad mistakes in previous seasons, but that they were truly and irredeemably incompetent. It's already clear at this point that they intend to turn Arya into a badass, highly skilled assassin. Yet they also apparently believe that she is so monumentally stupid that after abandoning her assassins guild, she struts around the streets of Braavos, in the open, undisguised, and without the slightest hint of caution for the assassins they are obviously going to send after her. Then she is caught and stabbed by the Waif, which is a logical consequence of such idiocy; however the idiot ball is then transferred to the Waif who is made out to be so incompetent that she can't inflict a lethal blow despite her target being caught completely unawares. Then of course Arya gets stabbed repeatedly in the abdomen with a pretty decently sized knife. In reality this would have caused a perforated bowel injury which would be effectively unsurvivable without modern surgery. Then, as you say, she ends up in what is effectively an open sewer with countless bacteria having open access directly into her abdominal cavity. Even without the bowel injury this too would result in massive infection and likely sepsis - again, unsurvivable without modern medical intervention. But no, she manages not only to survive the attack but to suffer zero ongoing complications for her stupidity or injuries - and then just walk away from the assassin's guild again without any further consequence. This is a complete betrayal of _everything_ classic GoT stood for.

So Balon's male heir should be the new king. 2) There was seemingly no tension in the fight between Arthur Dayne and Ned because we know who lived and who died. A few other examples from this season: - Jorah and Daario magically happen to find Daenerys' ring in the middle of the Dothraki sea, how lucky? - Sansa and Theon jump from a freaking high wall into a part of the ground with no snow without even breaking at least an ankle (this part is much better explained in the books, in the show it makes no sense), - Sansa somehow knows for certain that Ramsay holds Rickon while he's been proven to lie many times before when that helped him trick his enemies into a trap.

-The ring was in the middle of a HUGE circle created clearly by a kalasar. Which Jorah would know better than anyone that the circle meant something or someone was in the middle. So him checking that spot is actually logical. -yes a book explains a scene with better accuracy. SHOCKING. Lol yet enough snow can actually cushion a fall like that. And honestly the next episode theon had a clear limp. Whether you chalk that up to the fall or who theon became is on you I guess. Most of us just chalk it up to both. -he had the head of the direwolf that never leaves Rickons side and honestly, her even questioning it would have been a giant waste of time screen-wise. It would have been a pointless plot and ended up being completely meaningless and honestly if they focused on that something tells me you probably would call it pointless lol. There’s enough to criticize in this season which I actually enjoyed still without bringing up points like that that have OBVIOUS explanations. Lol

For those who only watched the series, the way Roose Bolton gets killed by Ramsay might be only worth one Sin but for those who read the books its the mother of all sins. Unfortunately the series only hints at the kind of person Roose Bolton is, like when he says "dont make me regret raping your mother", you get but only a faint "glance" at his true character. In the books, theon remarks after getting to know Roose Bolton "the son is only a shadow of the father" meaning that Ramsay is like a boy scout compared to the depth of depravity of Roose Bolton. That scene would have NEVER played out like this in the books. The moment Roose hears of his "legitimate" offspring, for which he was ready to marry and sleep with one of the ugliest and fattest "Cows" in Westeros, he would have just looked at Ramsay with empty soulless eyes and a emotionless grin, then walked out of the room after which his men would come in, take ramsay and flay him alive. I was ready to forget the sins with Doran Martells death, who in the books is also a very cunning and cautious man, because they ruined the Dorne Plot to begin with but this one really hurt.

Regarding the point made at 1:36:42, it actually worked out well tactically for the battle as the Knights of the Vale were able to attack the circle of Bolton infantry by surprise and pick them off easily. Had Jon Snow already known beforehand then it's very likely he would have wanted them to be used right from the beginning of the battle. That would have played well into Ramsay Bolton's tactics and he would have had his men rain arrows down on them as happended with a large chunk of the existing cavalry on the Stark side. This has been commented on elsewhere. :).

-I drink and I know things represents the worst of D & D's later seasons mared by bad humour and catchphrases. -Wait no mention of the only four guys being executed at Castleblack when there were at least 20 guys at Jon Snow's murder? -I don't think Littlefinger mentioned that he was attacked by Bolton forces at the Vale, so they could have been caught anywhere. -Littlefinger was planning to support Stannis with the Vale but Stannis was quickly beaten before Baelish was able to do anything. He was wtih Cersei at the time, remember. That is when he got the "OK" to get the Vale and go to Winterfell. -I'm thinking the whole Lancel Lannister following the kid was done for dramatic effect. Cersei would have had the same result with Lancel showing up at the Red Keep and the Mountain killing him. -Dany and her forces since she has Varys with them means that she is already in Westeros. Look at Mireen on the map. it's at the far side of the World. Most unreal scene in the entire show.

#3120: it's not very hard to suspect that. #3126: the northmen and the ironborn *are* the First Men. Even you admitted it when previously sinning Essosi folk for not referring to Jorah as such. #3136: you're joking about it right now, but there's a legitimate theory about Bran eating Jojen paste in that cave. #3145: he could have done it intentionally to use them as a gotcha against Jon. We already established that he cares more about his distaste for Jon than the Night's Watch itself. This isn't backed up by the narrative but it does make more sense than the narrative. #3154: and whether or not Cersei agreed with her statement is another question too. Only reason she told Tommen this is because she didn't want Margaery and Loras to get freed and had to keep her beloved son (who actually holds the power she claims to have) in check. Framing the Tyrells was her entire plan. You sinned Arya for being unfamiliar with the concept of lying, yet here you are. #3156: I think you're being a bit too generous here. Cersei doesn't actually care about her family and only uses them to fullfill her own narcissistic desires. Every character she claims to love (her children, Jaime and, to some degree, Tywin) is because she subconsciously perceives them as an extension of herself. This is shown by her sudden distaste of Jaime after he lost his hand and the fact that she's using and emotionally manipulating Tommen to get what she wants (also the fact that she seems to like Tommen less than her other children probably because, Joffrey being a cunt and Myrcella being a pretty girl, he's less like Cersei herself). #3161: yeeey, Manderly plot! #3182: yeah, sure they were, thousands of years ago. The only reason they even decided to hold a Kingsmoots in present timeline was because the Greyjoys hate each other and Aeron wanted Victarion on the throne instead of Euron (the actual next in line with Theon missing), while Asha (and a bunch of random minor characters) also made a run for it. In the show two of these characters (both of whom are POV characters) are missing, making it very hard to actually convey the process and emotions behind the Kingsmoots. #3219: Varys had the kids' tongues cut out, didn't he? #3221: it is an organized network but not the Crown's or, by extension, Qyburn's organized network. I think it's safe to say that Varys' spies are loyal to or somehow otherwise bound to him and Illyrio, shown by the fact that Varys still has them, after fleeing to Essos (and I'm pretty sure it's not the candies), preventing Qyburn from having a control over them. #3259: it is quite funny actually. #3273: especially so because in the books Loras has two elder brothers, making him written to be not very politically significant (he was allowed to become a Kingsguard for this very reason). And, as it is quite common with adaptaions, after the show changed this for whatever reason, they failed to address the change, making it mostly irrelevant, alongside most of Loras's half-assed subplots. #3283: yes, a literal shell of human being that, on top of the inhumane torture he suffered, is also pretty much hated (or at least treated harshly) by everyone he cares about, would definitely be able to rationalize that. #3286: Loras Tyrell also wants sex, it just happens to be gay sex. #3313: why would it? It's not something that faces criticism in Westeros where literally everyone and their dog is an alcoholic. Not to mention that it's quite hard to keep a drinking addiction "behind close doors" when the King gets wasted at every public event possible. And, unlike Tywin's war crimes, drinking may even make the average person find him more fun and sympathetic. #3321: I don't think you understand how comedies work. #3338: to be fair, the reason Euron got elected over Yara in the show is more or less the same he got elected over Victarion in the books. Except, in the books he's actually a competent and charismatic man who most likely uses magic and doesn't confess regicide for shits and giggles. #3351: I'm pretty sure this has some sort of symbolic meaning. #3419: that's what the sept is for. #3746: probably not. Because Arya is not meant to be 16 here. I know that this isn't relevant in the point being made (it actually makes Lady Crane's statement even worse), but fuck you. Seriously, your chronological inconsistencies are the main reason I decided to comment all these bs, mainly because we have concrete, tangible evidence of how time passes in the series and yet you managed to miss it and invent your own. So here's some math for you: •the very first event of the series, the death of Jon Arryn happens somewhere in 298 AC. That's when Arya is 9 in the books, add two years, you get 11 in the show. •the very first day of 300 AC is when the Purple Wedding happens (this date is heavily emphasized), aka season 4, which means that by that time, Arya is two years older at most, 13 (but maybe less, because it probably wasn't precisely two years). •the last event in the books so far is the death of Kevan Lannister and Pycelle, which happens shortly after Cersei's walk of atonement. This STILL happens in 300 AC. Even if we assume that during that short time since Cersei's walk of atonement, we entered the new year, it'd still only account for the beginning of 301 AC. •that's 3 years, AT THE VERY MOST, making Arya 13-14 (which attributes to Arya's Dance age being 11-12). In season 6 of the show, Jon would be 18-19, Sansa would be 15-16, Bran would be 11-12 and Dany would be 17-18. •the actual sin here is that the show decided to fuck around with character ages and then also decided not to be consistent with them. George gets lots of shit for not portraying age groups properly and making his characters way too young (like Game Daenerys being 13 and Tyrion being college kid aged), while the show is praised for actually getting them correct at first, but then here they come, making Arya or Bran appear as older teenagers or making Sansa, Jon or Dany appear like adults, defying THEIR own rules that THEY made up. Not to mention the individual cases, like Tommen being aged up by, like, 5 years, for a sex scene that wasn't even necessary or Brienne being fucking 30 for some reason, instead of 17 (they pretty much downgraded Brienne's entire character anyways. She went from "unattractive girl who wants to be a lady but her looks and how she is pervieved by those around her prevent this, making her have severe self-image issues and not find her place in society neither as a lady, nor as a knight" to "tall woman who likes swords". I don't even remember getting her backstory in the show). •after writing this, I actually checked the GoT wiki and realised that for some fucking reason the show does, indeed, pretend like a full year passes each season. Which, as proven by the math above, is a complete bullshit. I understand that the show canon is different than the book canon, but the show had absolutely zero reason to make this difference, apart from the fact that teens and twenties are more convenient to write about than children. #3785: fuck the show for still insisting that Jaime loves Cersei. #3888: what 10 Kingsguard? There are 7 of them in total, one being the Mountain himself, two of them not being present (Jaime and some other dude who went to Dorne), one being dead (Meryn Trant), one being Cersei's bitch (a Kettleblack) and one who's supposed to be Loras. So it's up to Boros the Belly to fight the Mountain. Good luck. #3956: to be fair, Ned said something about that if neither party is happy, then the decision was a good one. So Jon is accidentally acting like his father (and yes, I do call Ned Jon's father because he literally raised him as such). #3981: I don't want to be a dick, but the amount of time it takes you to die from throat slitting also varies in real life, depending the skill of the person doing it, what they want and how they execute it.
