@@Alignwc Hi, about 10 days ago I rolled over in bed and was greeted with a room spinning sensation I had never felt before. I did some research online and decided to try and do some BPPV exercises I found on KZread to see if that may be the cause. I did them 3-4 times that day but didnt feel any difference until I woke up the next day and it was gone. Ive now had a reoccurence which is slightly worse than the 1st episode 10 days ago. Im on my second day and the exercises havent worked. Im now wondering if I may have a blocked drum, or wax build-up causing me to have an inner ear infection thats giving me the BPPV symptoms. The dizzyness is exacerbated when I look down and to the right behind me and then look up again. I also feel as though my ears need to be popped constantly. Any thoughts? Thanks!

I am having almost constant vertigo since someone crashed my car with 170 km/h in October, almost all the time feeling dizzy like after 3 beers and sometimes it gets worse and my muscles on my arms get cramps and I get sort of panic attacks from that (or epilepsie?), beeing dizzy even wakes me up in the night, like my bed is turning. Sometimes my brain gets just overwelmed by something (my kids screeming) and than comes kind of sceisure, when I cant think straight, my hands do cramp, I can only cry or sit and watch a spot cause the rest is blury. Mostly it starts when I walk or turn my head up or down for a while or the head is in a weird possition, f.e. watching firewark on New Year for 3 minutes was enought to knock me out for 2 days with vertigo. My orthopedic doc stopped all treatment telling me I just pretend to have vertigo to suck out the health insurance system. He told me its all "psychical" eventhough it got immediatelly less after he did acupuncture of my back and electro therapy for my back. Well whatever it is, it drives me nuts after 3 months! I tried the exercise you tell here and I felt a bit better, as I was again in a middle of one sceissure. I wonder if vertigo can really be "psychical". Or which kind of vertigo is it in my case? I guess it has to do with some muscles in the back, cause sometimes it comes out of blue when I am in good mood, just doing some move with my upper back and there it is. Sometimes I feel kind of mind fog and the hands do cramp, than it feels more like psychicall issue. Well I really need to be back for my kids and work😢 I am freelance and dont get since October any penny. The doctors here told me so far to go home and "relax". I would be happy for any advice if I should do physical therapies to relax the back etc. or go to psychotherapie or cure some PTSD?! Thank you!!

Thanks Doc. My wife has had ovarian cancer (2016) metastasise to brain(L/hemisph) 2018. Surgery, radiation and chemo was applied. Vertigo became an unwelcome passenger for her. A week ago she had sudden hearing loss in left ear with severe vertigo. The vertigo is still subsiding now but the hearing has not recovered. We did see her oncology doctors who diagnosed vertigo (Hidrist 24mg prescribed). She has so many emergency situations that turn out not to be its killing our finances I am going to try these pressure points on her in a couple hrs. If I dont come back on this….then it did not work…thumbs

Im going to try this tomorrow! Ive tried a lot to help my vertigo, as it is pretty debilitating. And so far nothing has really helped. It just comes and goes but the episodes will last for hours sometimes and has made me vomit until the spinning stops, which sometimes is 24 hours. Ive been to the er and the meds they gave me did not help. Usually they end up just coming back up. And Im only 22, and it has made me miss two months of work because of how severe the episodes have gotten. It is very frustrating to deal with, as I am having a hard time keeping a job due to having episodes so frequently.

🎄🍒 Greetings Everyone, I just started getting vertigo upon awakening and the room was spinning. I truly believe this doctor is 100% correct in stating that One of the main causes of vertical is that we are all dehydrated. ESpecially in the winter when the heat goes on in your house or apartment, if we’re not drinking half of our body weight in water, then we will be dehydrated. Please note that you really only get hydrated when you drink in between meals not not with meals and only water hydrates. If you tend to be chilly then drink warm water or even hot water especially first thing in the morning. Because we fasted all night it’s great to sip 3 cups of water that are pretty warm first thing in the morning to help your body catch up especially if you tend to be dehydrated and especially if you tend to get vertigo. 🎄🍒Wishing you all the best, to all vertigo sufferers !

Dr. Gerstin, thank you so much for your great video; I already sent your ERL to my 10 children, 27 grandchildren, and 54 great grandchildren asking them to share it with their acquaintances. Now, please ponder addressing the eyeball-movement technique (EBMT) to stop BPPV; I used it decades ago (I'm 86+ now) but forgot the details of it...and vertigo came back two days ago in the wee hours of the morning when rolling to the right in bed. I had gone to bed with a light headache on the right-side. I've am undergoing bouts of loss of balance with varying severity for two consecutive days already but ONLY when --unless done very slowly-- walking, rotating/bending-over my head/body, or standing from sitting. I've already booked an in-person appointment with my CCP in case it is something serious, but I've to wait for almost two months for it; that's why, in the interim, I need to use the EBMT to stop/alleviate my what might probably be just BPPV but can't find online anything addressing it. I can't rely on my daylight home-care helper to assist me with any head/body movement technique (e.g., Eppley, etc.) to address this annoying, but potentially dangerous for my age, condition; obviously, EBMT is what I could try on my own.

Also, have recently been getting anxiety, it's crazy... Lately I have really spun myself out with the worst case scenarios. I have no Idea why, I think because none of this has ever happened before. @@curtisgambrell6427 I got my official vertigo as of over a week ago , i can’t tell you how many times it has sent me to emergency room from it messing with my mentality . But update: My ENT has removed bunch of wax from both ears which released the pain/pressure from my head gradually . Then my chiropractor has pointed out from my X-rays that I have a misalignment . Did my first session , I can’t wait for a few more sessions till I’m better and get to live my life again. 1. The joint receptors(nerves) send messages right to the vestibular nuclei, the part of your brain that controls balance and dizziness are found in the cervical spine. When the cervical spine is positioned poorly, those incorrect messages are hardwired to your balance centers and trigger dizziness and vertigo. 2. When the cervical spine loses its proper curve from the side, the spinal cord which is inside the cervical spine gets stretched. When it is stretched, the nerves fire incorrectly and trigger the spins or dizziness.

Do you think one's diet can affect us as well? In the past few months I have been ingesting a lot of liquid stevia and Monk fruit. I put this in my tea instead of sugar (I also drink a lot of regular tea). I think those are plant based products so I can't see the harm, but one never knows. That is just one thing in my diet. I also wonder if maybe seeing a chiropractor can cause vertigo as well. I know you are a chiropractor, but I think this question needs to be asked and looked into. I have had several manipulations in my life. I have a twin sister who does not have my vertigo problem. She has never seen a chiropractor.

  • @Alignwc

What you drink can defiantly cause problems with your health. And yes incorrectly applied Chiropractic can cause problems. In my area there are chiropractors that don't do exams before providing care. That is not a very good idea. That is why I don't tell people to just go to a chiropractor. I look to give specific recommendations. Finding a great chiropractor is like finding a great MD. I just had a patient that had their MD that they worked with for years tell them they wanted to do surgery. I suggested a second opinion and he was so grateful. Let me know if you want help finding the right one for you.

I started feeling sick Wed afternoon. By Wed night, I was very dizzy and yesterday the dizziness was out of control. Today, its better but I still have it. I tried all the exercises, but, still am dizzy. How do you know if your dizziness is actually tied to vertigo or just an illness? As I had a few other symptoms the last 3 days, mainly stomach ache, and nausea with some vomiting but no temperature.

I dont have vertigo with spinning but I have dizziness - a feeling of being off balance. I've had this for 6 weeks; I've gone to neurologists, physiatrists, and physical therapists and nothing they are giving me is helping. I have cervical spondylosis with herniated disks at C5-C6-C7 and my trapezius is chronically contracted. Any suggestions?

I started with a little vertigo yesterday. I’m just getting over a middle ear infection with the help of antibiotics I guess you could say that LOL but I noticed when I was taking a shower the last few times I was a little off-balance and I am taking Zyrtec now and Flonase along with a low-grade blood pressure medicine but my blood pressure is fine. I’m thinking the added allergy medicines and the fact that I probably don’t drink enough water or anything else to begin with. Has contributed to it. Last night I took a meclizine because that usually helps my vertigo but I think it just dried me out more. All your information is so helpful! Now I’m off to drink some water❤️😂

Hi Dr. Gerstin, thanks for the information. I’ve had vertigo episodes- strictly which begin upon waking- for 15 years. Fortunately, I only get 1-2 episodes per year. My spinning sensation may only last a minute, but my worst episode lasted days. It is always followed by extreme nausea, the slightest postural change in my head will immediately trigger vomiting (which, incidentally, helps me feel better for a couple of minutes) and severe migraine symptoms, usually. I also suffer from myofacial pain, and hyper mobility issues, which creates a chicken and egg for me in diagnosis. Years ago, an ENT specialist performed epley and said it didn’t seem -likely- that it was BPPV, so I’ve spent years since in fear of the next episode, wanting so badly to understand what is causing all this. Any advice would be life changing, thank you!

  • @NanaKaren555

    @NanaKaren555

I’ve been treated partly successfully by physical therapists with the Epley maneuver and massage; however, they think, and so do I that I have vertigo from more than one source. My ENT has scheduled me for an MRI for the ear canals to rule out any tumors. He also suggested possibly Menuer’s disease which I think is part of it, because after a friend told me she uses Sudafed- so since I’ve been taking that, it’s stayed away for quite a while - until I was recently put on a decompression table at a great chiropractors office and I think the cervical procedure/work set it off again because I have spinal stenosis, too. It’s been so bad I throw up and stay nauseated for days. It really has been debilitating. I’m staying on the Sudafed and continuing with more tests and hope to be done with it one of these days. I hope you will be done with it soon, too.

Help !Dr. I’ve been having vertigo since March this year. Mine have got worse with vomiting. I have been to my primary Dr. and she thinks it’s caused by allergies put me on Allegra & Flonase, I went to an audiologist and she said my hearing is normal, but thinks suspects it’s stress as most people have it, I went to an ENT Dr. he prescribed a antihistamine and nausea meds and I have an MRI scheduled. I was also referred to an PT but they said it’s quite tricky and I haven’t gone to a session as I don’t know if they could help. Today has been the worst attack as it started at 4:30 am with vomiting and im still dizzy, my eyes can’t focus. I was also prescribed a steroid which I haven’t taken as I am sensitive to medication.

Anxiety and stress can make vertigo worse. I’m now swearing by this doc’s methods because as of right now I feel like my balance is back and no dizziness.😁 My vertigo comes and goes and mine is located in my right ear. It can be very debilitating, but these exercises are helping tremendously.

@@Jeng4280 feeling better here too. mine i understood was due largely on an infected ear. the specialist after exams prescribed some oral medication and ear oil drops. that helped a lot. check cholesterol and ear infection just in-case. could be a contributing factor.

Liked and shared this with my wife who is panicking about things becoming worse. It seems to help so far. My issue: tinnitus. I’ve heard there’s no cure. Audiologist agrees. Ugh. What’s the best cure for stopping ringing of the ears?
