One of my absolute favorite sitcoms! Years ago my grandpa (who was in his 80's at the time) used to watch ELR reruns every night before bed. When I would visit, you could hear him laughing all throughout the house. It was awesome to hear him getting such a kick out of the show, especially during his last few years after my grandma had passed. This show really brought him some joy.

My favorite episode of this show was when Raymond's mother, Marie, decided to take a sculpting class. Marie made a large sculpture and gave it to Raymond for his house. However, this was not an ordinary sculpture. Ray looked at it and told Debra that "it looks a little lady-like." It is shaped like a vagina. Robert said, "I've seen this before." Ray whispered into Robert's ear and told him what he thinks of it. Robert gave a look of disbelief, and he looked at it again and gave a glimpse of a big surprise that he finally understood what It looked like to him now. Ray told Marie he could not accept her sculpture because of the kids and friends visiting them. Marie was hurt, so she donated it to a church auction. Two nuns from that church came to Ray's house to see this sculpture and were appalled. One of the nuns told Marie that her statue was inappropriate and they could not use it for their auction. Marie said, "Why not?" The nun whispered into Marie's ear and told her what it resembled. Marie exclaimed, "Oh my God! I must be a lesbian." Now Marie decided to showcase this sculpture at an art gallery. Marie's husband Franks kept looking at it and said, "I know I've seen this before." It was closing time for the gallery, and Frank kept looking at that sculpture as everyone was leaving. A janitor was sweeping the floor, and he whispered to Frank what he thought it looked like to him. As the show ends, Frank finally says, "Holy crap!!!". It was a great episode, and I laughed so much watching it.

Marie Barone, Italian American Mothers really are that horrible. I know mine was, my poor father Rocco had to put up with that for 47 years of marriage before he decided to finally drop dead. Although you eat well, I must say I ate extremely well compared to other kids in my neighborhood. She cooked 6 days a week, the other day we spent finishing off the leftovers. She grew up during the Great Depression and throwing out food in her mind was a sin, sometimes she would send me up with leftovers to the kid up the street just so it would not get thrown out. As long as it wasn't an hour before lunch or dinner if I was hungry my mother would stop what she was doing and either make me a grilled cheese or heat up spaghetti and meatballs from the night before. Or sometimes it would be roast pork or braciole. As a child I used to think I was poor because I only had hot dogs for dinner maybe once or twice a year, whereas the kids down the street had them sometimes once or twice a week. Yes I am even dumber than the character of Raymond . Hot dogs and hamburgers were the only American foods that my mother knew how to cook, despite being born in Philadelphia. When people ask me what it's like to grow up in Italian American family I say you know the Godfather movie, yeah it's worse than that it's like everyone loves Raymond. Gentleman your video was a surprise and quite entertaining. My true hope is to watch Italian people from Italy react to everyone loves Raymond video, your video has come closest to this hope mine. Thank you and thumbs up... PS Spaghetti is kept in a separate bowl from the meats, you combine them on your plate. Also despite English being my only language I sincerely apologize for the bad grammar, poor punctuation and possible misspellings. And if by some miracle there aren't any mistakes in this comment grammar wise that's because I spent 43 minutes composing it.

ELR was/is a great show! Ray Romano, being a stand-up comic then transitioning to a sit-com, was a decent actor in the first season then evolved into a very good TV comedic actor! What's more was the writing / topics were consistently interesting and entertaining. EACH character had their strengths AND weaknesses. No one was innocent! Just when my mother would side with Ray's mom, then Marie would say or do something overreaching or backhandedly insulting! Haha. Frank was brash and crude, but refreshingly strong and honest. Robert was competent in law enforcement, but a doormat in his first marriage. Deborah was a strong and smart voice, but made her share of errors in judgment while being a bad cook! Ray avoided problems, concocted go-arounds, yet loved Deborah and the kids just fine. Again, the topics, the Slices of Life, were so good and relatable, and offered angles on each character that reflected common flavors of personalities in families that could tug on your heart, of course make you burst out laughing, and remember what's important in life. Speaking of the cast, the chemistry was ridiculously good! A+. Amy and her parents / brother as well. Fantastic casting to get such a fine ensemble.
