OMG thank you for this! When i first got my van that needle never moved from 190 ever. that needle has been all over the place in the last two years, but never over that 3rd line. I just installed this year a new water pump, all hoses, clutch fan, and i just ordered a radiator. it was 95 deg with 95% humidity and it got closer to that 3rd line towing a 1000 lb and ac blasting. i was worried about head gasket but I pressure tested it and it leaked from aux water pump hoses and failed radiator.

Awesome advice mate - I’ve always wondered what the “normal” operating temperature was - informative video - looking forward to more videos from you guys!

I’d agree with this. Up the rockies I definitely get midway up the last white segment. That is the temp that the aux fan turns on at.

People will push it until it won't go any more. Overheating, engine lights, flat tires. I see people flailing a strand of tire all over the side of their car, doing 5x the damage instead of stopping.

Any idea how to adjust the speedometer needle position? Mine is sitting at -5 MPH basically - the needle when idle sits down below the zero mark. It moves properly with the speed but it's always showing about 5 MPH slower than actual speed (based on speed/radar displays on the sides of the road).

I do I check for a bad fan clutch?

A landscaping neighbor cracked a valve in his 2004 quite a while back, I told him when he bought the van to take it easy but he wouldn't listen. He came from a big-block Suburban so he was used to going Mach 3 with his hair on fire but hated the resulting 7 MPG. I'm thinking about buying it from him, any suggestions/ideas? From what I can tell, the broken exhaust valve is all that's wrong with it, he even drove it that way for a few weeks until I diagnosed/told him what happened. I need another smaller service truck.

and if you have a sprinter 2011? where is the temperature gauge?

Hi there where are you located??

Mine tends to sit around 205-210 winter summer whatever that seems to be where the thermostat wants to keep it. In the summer I have had it approach 235 and I just went easy on it or pulled over. Does this sound normal or do you think something is wrong? I recently changed the thermostat.

@@kansascitysprinters79 we have this same issue now and Mercedes changed out the fan clutch combo but the temperature still gets up to 224 just on the flat highway at 60. What else could be causing this ? We scared to drive on to Colorado with the mountain passes.

So if it does occasionally hit +235 what do I look into to resolve the issue? I was told I might need to replace the coolant system all together in my 2006 T1N. Is that a probable resolution?

Do a radiator flush, use thermocure to remove rust, make sure all hoses are in good condition, check your radiator fins to make sure they're clear and free of oil, and other buildup, make sure your fan clutch is working properly as well.

What's up with my temp when it barely makes 130?

Typically thermostat stuck open, maybe in combo with fan clutch stuck on. Replace the whole cooling system for peace of mind
