  • @FloridaVanMan

    One coming up, but it is weeks away. I have the van, but not the time to work on it. We did some fairly major rust repair under the windshield on 2Blue (formerly Nero), but that wasn't a good video since I didn't really know what I was doing. I studied then tried, won't say I failed but I've learned a little that will make the next time least look like I know what I'm doing. lol

    This video will help determine if the heat valve is working. kzread.info/dash/bejne/e2iZqsyOf7CTd8Y.html Often when this valve fails people will add a shut-off valve or bypass it to stop heat blowing in the summer.

  • @FloridaVanMan

    @FloridaVanMan

    The oil filter housing on a T1N is part of the timing chain cover. You are looking at a total engine disassembled for that. Head must come off. I don't have any videos that deep inside the engine (yet).

    Great videos, real and very informative thank you! Is there any way to check the pressure on the low and high pressure pumps? I have a 2001 sprinter with a 612 motor a previous owner has fitted and the EDC light came on, no power and stopped, took off positive battery lead and started again but would like to find the cause? Has new fuel filter, I have an Autel MaxiDiag Elite scanner and was getting codes Rail pressure too low and signal voltage too high, rail pressure leakage but seems to be running ok again now. Any thoughts on what, where to check so EDC light doesn't come on again? Also do you are there any extra profiles etc available that can be loaded into the scanner to find deeper data?

  • @FloridaVanMan

    @FloridaVanMan

    Жыл бұрын

    I don't know the MaxDiag Elite, only Autels AP200. I wouldn't expect to find any additional service packages helpful, but I've been wrong before. I would be testing the injector leak off and rail control leak off tests. Search our videos for "leak-off". There are 3 videos pertaining.

    Hey love the videos. Quick question what steps need to be taken to swap out the 612 intake manifold to the 647 intake and how hard would it be to do it while the motor is still inside the van

  • @FloridaVanMan

    @FloridaVanMan

    3 жыл бұрын

    I think the swap could be done without removing the engine, but it is going to be real hard to access some of the bolts to get the old manifold off. You will also need an EGR that fits the new manifold, a hose to route from the new EGR to the aux water pump, and the long bolts for the new manifold.

    I just bought a van with this type of engine here in Mexico city and there is the hose that holds the fuel pressure sensor that my friend the mechanic couldn't find where to connect it. Right at minute 4:40 I can see 2 white hoses one is the fuel pressure sensor and the other what would that be connected to? (5:06). Also you replaced de intake manifold of the om612 and install intake manifold om647 then what happens to the fuel pressure sensor is there a place to connect it on that om647 intake manifold?

  • @FloridaVanMan

    @FloridaVanMan

    10 ай бұрын

    It was some years ago, but I think the fuel sensor was zip tied to something. There is no place to mount it on the OM647 manifold. The other line seen at 4:40 must be the one that belongs on the fuel filter.

    I am about to do the intake manifold swap on my OM612. Is it a pretty straight forward bolt on job?

  • @FloridaVanMan

    @FloridaVanMan

    3 жыл бұрын

    It is just nuts and bolts, no grinding or fabricating. But it did have some quirks I had to work out. You will need the longer bolts from the OM647 and a new EGR, of course. Some hoses will be different. It would have been much more difficult if I bought the manifold rather than pul it off a van I had here. Because I kept going back to the van to get more OM647 stuff.

    We have links to the two most common code readers that work. Generic OBD readers will NOT work well. The little white one on my links page requires setup correctly and we have a video for that. Search my home page for "AP200 setup" video and be sure to download "Benz_Sprinter" , not Dodge, Mercedes or Freightliner on the new code reader. floridavanman.com/links

    would you recommend leaving the plastic cover off the engine so you can keep an eye on the infamous "black death"?

  • @FloridaVanMan

    @FloridaVanMan

    2 жыл бұрын

    Definitely NOT! Other things will get in there if the cover is left off. The seal between hood and van body often allows rain to sheet down the windshield and overcome the seal. This will puddle in the injector area and rust the injector bodies. This makes them real hard to remove! Mice will nest up there too if left parked, cats on cold nights with warm engine, nothing good can come from this. Removing 7 bolts every few months (8 bolts on OM612) is easy. Do put all the bolts back in or the holes will let in water. Battery ratchet makes this super easy. Like this: amzn.to/3hM0loG

    The original engine keeps smoking. I tried everything to fix it and *tried to do compression tests. This engine runs without smoke, so the problem is for sure one of the parts that got swapped... maybe rings or valve guides in the old engine are bad. Or it *might be something else attached to the engine that I failed to diagnose?
