I've had to put an alternator in it and just now the intercooler hose. Thank u for that one. I just bought a code reader also because of you. Thanks for all your videos. I'm definitely now a sprinter guy forever. I had no idea when I bought it. I am now lol

    Wow, 2k. What a good purchase. I paid 15k for mine almost 7 yrs ago. Destroyed my first engine, sad to say, over filled the oil. Go figure. Just don't ever overfill the oil. It will be a costly mistake. I want my old engine back. Not sure how many miles is on the used one that my mechanic found. But am sure glad I have this. Keep up with the maintenance. Oh, one more thing. REPLACE THE GROUND WIRE AT THE BATTERY with the thickest one at the auto parts store. That will save you on no start issues.

    zimaletta you are the best! I own 2007 mercedes 2500 made by Dodge or however yo put it! I was fed up with it after limp mode , 3000 RPM max, tranny won't shift past 2nd gear etc... It was Sunday oct.7 and I decided to give You Tube one last shot after investing $8000. a year and half ago . after watching Zimaletta I was certain tere was light at the end of the tunnel. this was after Transmission shop said there was nothing wrong with it and "diesal" mmechanic said it would cost 10 G's to fix the motor! after watching all your videos referring my problems I went out side tried a couple things you taught me for the 1st time since I owned it I got 4000 rpm's no problem ! It is still in limp mode but I hope its a matter of erasing the engine codes I wish you were located i NJ, I wouldn't hesitate to bring it to you

    Hi, I dunno if you can help. I bought a 208 cdi a couple of years ago with only 35000kilometers on the clock off an old person whos had it since new. Im pretty happy with it, especially reliability. It does lack power though( only 85bhp) have your remaped these models safely before? The main issue is the swinging, suspension is so bouncy/flimsy. Is there any thing i can do to make it more rigid/sterdy? Thanks for your help

    Thanks so much for all your ! I’ve been a Expiditer since 2012 and own a number of 2004-2006 sprinters. Taking on a transmission change this weekend and watched your videos. Like you I try and do most of my own mechanic work and have gained a lot of satisfaction doing it. Question on my 2004 3500, did a California trip with it a couple weeks ago and it started blowing black smoke under acceleration and fuel mpg was 2 to 3 mpg worse than usual. Also hard starting in below 30 temperatures. Thinking egr or maybe bad injector. Cleaned egr but didn’t change. Going to try switching it out with another one I have. I did idle it for a few hours in the mountains because I was afraid it wouldn’t start... Any ideas? Thanks, Keith Rintala

  • @ZimaletaMotors

    @ZimaletaMotors

    6 жыл бұрын

    Black smoke is normal, and hard to start below to 30 normal to, but don’t think EGR will help with this, I do think maybe your fuel injector is getting bad or most likely it’s the High pressure fuel pump, I recommend taking it off and tightening the bolts at the back, btw thanks for watching my videos and let me know if I can help, but keep in mind I learned all this on my own and use common sense to fix most problems

  • @Dima-jq3mj

    @Dima-jq3mj

    6 жыл бұрын

    Keith Rintala If it's creating quite a bit of black smoke and your MPG dropped, sounds like a malfunctioning Mass Air Flow Meter, that is causing a change in fuel/air ratio. Sometimes this sensor can go bad, or reads bad, without triggering any codes or check engine light. If you would have had an advanced scanner, you could reset all the adaptations of the Mass Air Flow Meter and drive for a bit to see if it is really bad or malfunctioning.

    I just recently bought a 2006 sprinter and came across your channel. I appreciate your content and have a question. If I drive this sprinter at highway speeds for any length of time as soon as I stop and shut it off it will not start for an hour or so. I've had it at the Mercedes dealer for a week and they had it in before I bought it for the same issue (probably why they sold it) and the dealer installed a crank position sensor but apparently that's not the issue. I took it back and they had it for a week and have no idea why it is doing it

  • @ZimaletaMotors

    @ZimaletaMotors

    6 жыл бұрын

    +Muck's Fab Shop normally this is caused by a crankshaft position sensor, but camshaft sensor can cause it to, that’s a common problem for all cars, it will start on cold but it won’t when hot, other then that I really don’t know what else it can be, but sometimes it’s 2 problems in one

    Mine gets wet inside when it rains. My doors do not lock. My windows don't go up and down. It rattles like a box of rocks. The seats are uncomfortable. The steering wheel can't be adjusted to be comfortable. The fuel and brake pedals are awkwardly placed, and my legs hurt like crazy after I drive it for more than an hour.

    Do I have to remove front end grille and radiator to replace water pump and fuel pump ? Is it a bad idea not and just removing shroud and fan only?

  • @ZimaletaMotors

    @ZimaletaMotors

    6 жыл бұрын

    To replace water pump yes remove grille and 2 head lights and front brakes bumper, then remove 4 radiator support bolts, then place something about 6 inches between radiator and engine on both sides, to give you room to work, remove top manifold house and top radiator house, no need to drain radiator or disconnect it, just push it forward, then remove fan and start removing houses from water pump, you will need to drain radiator fluid for this, then remove water pump bolts and at some point remove the belt

  • @YDVDL

    i removed the radiator support only then i tilted ( gently pushed out ) the top of the radiator and with clearance created got the main bolt loose puled clutch with fan out,shroud is out and you have plenty of room,but mine is 2002 meaning fuel pump is bit different..just be very careful...as always - slowly but surely..because you on your own when you damage anything ...it took me 30 min to get to the pump... and ZIMALETA is RIGHT - check your pulleys and serpentine belt while you are in that area...watch his video few times if needed - he does step-by-step explanation and it does work

  • @ZimaletaMotors

    @ZimaletaMotors

    6 жыл бұрын

    If it’s bumps, then there’s probably something lose, where the fuse panel is in the steering wheel, behind the fuse panel, you have allot of stuff plugged in, sometimes the plastic connector is broken, and it will cause the plug to move when going over bumps and shut your van down, but Limp Mode that triggers after speed bumps is interesting, but I would start there, and also check the computer it’s located under the dash on the driver side to the left of the steering wheel column, just check this all out, also it can be caused by a bad wiring harness

    Brad M What kind of limp mode? Engine or transmission? If it is engine, check your ground connections, especially the one that is by the fuel filter. If it is transmission, it can probably be multiple things, bad conductor's plate, bad connection, dropped filter. Does the check engine light come on when it goes in limp mode?

    +Frank Bicknell hello Frank it’s nice of you to stop by, yes I have Facebook, but my notifications are off for it, but KZread notifications are on, I am devoted to what I do on my Channel and truly enjoy doing this, I help every Sprinter owner subscriber or not to solve there problems I know I don’t need to say it but I will Lol, it’s FREE of charge and I will spend time making videos to help explain the problem, Videos that I make, is my normal daily content, I always read and answer every comment and questions, and sometimes if I can’t explain it because it’s to complicated to type up, I just make a video, I understand allot about Sprinters, but I don’t consider my self a mechanic, instead I am just like you guys Trying to make it, and I understand the hardships that sprinter owners go through so I try to help minimize the head aches and hopefully save thousands in the presses, All vans and cars have troubles, but there’s not allot of support for some models, like not sure if there’s any Pro master videos, I know when I started KZread, there was not many good videos about sprinters, so it made sense to share what I know, and it became something fun and interesting to do daily, I enjoy talking to you guys, and Frank I am sorry your having trouble with your Pro-master, but I am not surprised, I really never heard anything good about that van, I only seen good stuff told about it when the drivers first buy it, but anything new is good, that being said, I never knew about pro-master to have Diesel, so maybe it’s not bad, but one thing I will tell you, everyone is having DEF problems, and it only gets worse comes winter, 2004-2006 Sprinters don’t have Diesel, worst thing it has is EGR, but that’s $500 bucks if you don’t get a deal, and usually fixes the problem, but DEF is a nightmare, no one knows how to work on it so they just replace it, and normally $7k to 8k job, if you payed 4K that’s a new number but even 4K is to much, I like to not worry about DEF and just upkeep the Engine, Transmission and other things to keep it running, it’s just a major disappointment in my opinion, you do all that and then DEF breaks, that’s just crazy in my opinion, and not fair, like there’s nothing you can really do, but maybe get a DEF flush every once in a while, and then I wonder why don’t they insulate DEF system, its insulated at the pump so it must freeze, I don’t know, but someone is making money at our expense, well anyway Frank feel right at home here and feel free to ask anything, i is idly reply soon, I am always checking my KZread and notifications are on so I don’t miss any questions, unless I am sleeping

    So ,i just made my dream and got my self 2002 Freightliner Sprinter 3500 T1N 12 passengers,but in your video you mentioning that 02,03 and that not too good...I did my water pump and used your video,except the fact i didn't take radiator out,because it was usable to do with radiator in,but did used screw driver instead of special tool to get main bolt on the pump loose just like you did. So, why would you think 2002 - 2003 is not that good...fuel pump just like on sedan Mercedes ...i have a big family and my kids love it to drive around in this small but at the same time big van...Ride is smooth and i can easily fit in in every parking spot with my dual tires on the back

    Congratulations, sorry if I made it sound like it’s a bad van for 2002-2003, it’s really not, I had a 2002 and it was ok, but here’s the bad thing about it, you can’t use any 2004-2006 parts on it, they just won’t work including fuel injectors, and the problem is that 2002-03 parts are more expensive, also Mercedes made changes to 2003 model and made it better for 2004 and up, was the changes superior in 2004? I don’t know! But Mercedes did make the changes, I heard it was to make this a better van, but who knows, one thing I can tell you, is this I had a 2002 and it was just as good as 2004

    I traded my 05 chevy express for an 05 sprinter 4 yrs ago. One thing I have to say, change the ground wire from the battery to the body. When they made this van they made the wire too small I had a issue with starting the van and a computer sensed that the wires were too hot and it would not allow the starter to start up the van. Also do not overfill the oil like I did I blew my engine and had to replace it I wish I had that old engine my new engine is not as powerful but I still get the same fuel economy as before. Too bad I'm in the US I wish I had four wheel drive on my Sprinter as I was surfing the net a couple years ago after buying the Sprinter I found four by fours in England and Europe. Does anybody know how to get rid of the 80 mile an hour speed limit? Driving on the freeway or Highway just get stuck behind trucks and I can't get out and I can't get around them and then I get stuck behind a long line and I can't keep up with the passing Lane

He was so happy he was flying of joy !!! They were the Original ones in there from 06 with 250k miles yet they came out one after another ! The Stealership told him that they can't take a chance on changing them for fear of breaking them then he is in for a $5000 engine head bend over let us have an intercourse job with you hahaha .Those plugs have over 150.000 miles on them. Used a 3/8s torque wrench set to 12 NM , ran the van at 2500 RPM and used liqui moly diesel intake cleaner and blasted the intake clean , while van running I sprayed that same cleaner around old plugs starting with number 1 and working in , with engine off I waited few minutes and then started tightening first then loosening back and forth CARFULLY to dislodge all that blaad soot then got the truck running to let the engine pressure help push the plug out . More cleaner while truck still running and back and forth again till I can hear pssss psssss pssss , shut the truck off and use a NON IMPACT 12 volts cordless drill set to max yes max to tighten and loosen again and again then off she came one by one , no fuss , no broken plugs and no engine head needed .
