When it comes to korra's last season dragging, I liked it as it was a more realistic approach to someone having psychological issues from their past experiences, it's not something that korra can just get over, it's a long journey for her to be able to get back to a similar place she was at before. I also think that it's good for a show that kids will watch to be shown that not getting better overnight from a traumatic event is fine (it's one of the reasons that I love shows like avatar, she-ra and owl house, they don't talk down to the audience, they just present the real world issues of trauma, abuse and mental health in ways that the audience can understand). I think saying that it drags kind of misses the whole journey that korra was on.

That’s the thing about having a trauma arc, it takes time to flesh out. For LOK they had to flesh it out in the beginning so we can get to the actual story. Unfortunately it caused the beginning to be slow and and dragged out. The arc was placed at a bad point in the season. Maybe if it was just one or two episodes, it wouldn’t have felt so slow.

@@angelaharris9714 yeah but if it was two episodes it would have had the opposite effect of feeling rushed and resolved to quickly and feel unearned and pointless (like a lot of trauma arcs, where it's just I have PTSD for one episode but now I'm fine cause power of friendship or it was some weird demon thing or some garbage). I agree that the last season takes a while to get going but for me at that point in a show it doesn't bother me, I'm already invested and show doesn't need to hook in so much, it can take time to fully explore something. As for its placing I'm not sure where else you would place it, you had the traumatic event at the end of the last season so you have to resolve it at the front of the next season. I can kind of see how it is a slow start but I think after three seasons the show had built up the characters and earned the ability to do that sort of story. For me I wasn't expecting it and was like ok cool they haven't just done what I was expecting and magically resolved the problem, this is a thing now and that's interesting from a character perspective, what if the avatar has PTSD and can't be the avatar anymore. Plus it does factor into the story, because korra is unable to be the avatar the villain gains a much stronger position and has the time she needs to build her power, not to mention that it forces other characters to do things on their own. I do get some of the problems but I also don't see it as that big an issue, maybe if it were season two or three I'd feel slightly different.

@@charlestownsend9280 yeah, which is why introducing a PTSD arc was a double edge sword. It’s a realistic experience and isn’t rushed, but it’s at the cost of a slow pace and the story is dragging in the beginning. So now the focus in the beginning is kind of on characters who honestly weren’t that interesting like Mako, Bolin, and Asami and the air bender kids. The only thing I really liked about the trauma arc was being able to see Toph again. Unfortunately everything was kind of boring and I was waiting for the action to start.

Zuko's redemption arc is probably the best redemption arc ever committed to television (I won't compare films since they don't have the time to do a real redemption arc). Most shows, even the good ones, will go for some form of the "Oh did you almost maybe die for us? Ok you good guy now 💋" storyline because it works and it's the fastest way to get a character to "switch sides". But with Zuko, his story was the story of what it's like to try and change for the better when everyone around you wants you to be someone else. He tried and he failed, he gave up, he made the wrong decisions, he lost sight of who he was and pushed away the ones who loved him, but then he found his way. And it wasn't easy from there- there were lingering consequences from his past that inhibited his ability to move on. Everyone should take notes, this is how you tell a story!

Both “Earth” and “Fire” are literally, equally good seasons of ‘Avatar: The Last Airbender.’

Not even close. Fire is miles ahead. Both have incredibly high highs but earth has many episodes that drag and feel like bad filler. Fire has 1 bad episode, it’s perfect

let's not forget that Fire has one of the best filler episodes of any series. Putting the spotlight on the 4 antagonists, it's a beach episode that beautifully focuses on mental health issues like: peer pressure; jealousy, confronting and making peace with your emotions and giving us a glimpse into the psyche of one of the best antagonists of recent years.

Book 3 of ATLA is my favorite season, but that has a lot to do with the fact that it contains my favorite episode: Sokka's Master. Sokka is my favorite member of the Gaang, and I loved seeing every highlight of his character arc in that episode.

Azula is still probably the best avatar villian likable, relatable and yet the slow turn to insanity is just epic

It's set around 100 years after LOK, so korra has a full life, unless something delays the reincarnation (which could be interesting and I'm not fully against them killing off korra at a younger age, although they probably deserve to live a long life due to all the stuff they went through).

I am ready for the series and the movie coming in 2025.

Surprised to see such a solid ranking from a major content-producing KZread channel, good job.

I almost have the exact opposite opinion on season 4 of Korra (but would give it the same placement). The slow parts are where the season worked for me. It highlighted how deep the hole was that Korra was in, and the slow buildup of Kuvira using more and more force to accomplish her goals did a great job at gradually increasing the tensions and allowed the viewer to see her side of things. It's the final battle where the season fell flat in my eyes. The battle just dragged on an on without much happening. The giant mech came out of absolutely nowhere, and the way it was used constantly challenged my suspension of disbelief. I also really disliked that Kuvira, who was a tyrannical dictator and conqueror, and blew up half the city, was just able to walk away from the conflict, with people showing compassion from all sides, after being defeated. Meanwhile Amon, a guy who fought for equality and just took people's bending away, was somehow bad enough for the show to blow him up at the end of his season.

I love all 7 seasons of Avatar and Korra, but obviously no season is perfect. Here’s how I’d rank them: 1. Fire(ATLA) 2. Change(TLOK) 3. Earth(ATLA) 4. Balance(TLOK) 5. Water(ATLA) 6. Air(TLOK) 7. Spirits(TLOK)

To me The last Airbender outshines The legend of Korra by far. I mean it's a good show and I enjoyed it but it will never be as epic as the OG Show was ❤️

It's so funny watching people react to the first episode of Korra and say they can't wait to see Aang, when they already know, or haven't paid attention to the lore. There is only one Avatar at a time, only when the one truly dies can they be reincarnated. This is not Buffy lol.

When I first watched “The Legend of Korra” on Amazon Prime, I was excited. Unfortunately, it only had three seasons, but when I bought the complete series, I was extremely hype for Season Four.

I'm thankful to see "Avatar: The Last Airbender" since 2020 then the following year I truly enjoyed "The Legend Of Korra" as she is my favorite heroine.

I agree with this list for the most part but I would honestly switch 5 and 6. The Legend of Korra Book One: Air was way better than Book Four: Balance. The only reason I actually liked Korra Book Four was because Kuvira was the best Korra villain ever because she was voiced by Zelda Williams the daughter of the late Robin Williams. The problem with Korra Book Four was that Prince Wu was an entitled and narcissistic man-child before his character development at the end of the series because he made Book Four feel way too childish and over the top at times. And don’t even get me started on the Legend of Korra Book Two: Spirits because that was the worst Avatar season ever. Korra and most of the other TLOK protagonists were completely condescending and unlikable through most of their second season. And the worst part about TLOK Book Two: Spirits was that Unalaq was the worst Avatar villain ever because he was literally the completely generic and irredeemable take over the world villain who literally destroyed the past Avatars and actually caused Korra permanent and irreversible damage. The thing that bothered me the most about TLOK Book Two where Unalaq was a generic take over the world villain was that it made Korra’s spiritual training with Unalaq feel completely unnecessary and pointless. If only Tenzin and Tonraq had communicated better with Korra and told her the truth then maybe Korra wouldn’t have even needed Unalaq’s help in the first place.

Unpopular opinion but i really loved Avatar the Last Airbender Season 1

When it comes to the Korra seasons, I agree with you Ms Mojo. But when it comes to the Aang seasons I disagree, but just a bit. My nr1 favorite season is obvi season 3 Fire🔥. My favorite part of that season is that Zuko gets his redemption and joins Team Avatar. I also like that we get to see that the people of the Fire nation is, well, just people. That despite them being from an enemy nation, they're still people. And that finale, was EPIC!!!

I can mostly agree with this list MOSTLY. On any given day Change and Fire can be my favourite season of the franchise. Yes, I put Change above Earth and I love Earth for Toph. But ultimately Earth, Fire and Change are a solid top three.

Also that he can blood bend without a full moon which makes it more terrifying. 😬

Personally, I liked LOK more than ATLA I had a much deeper connection with it It is not only the fact that it took a deeper dive into steampunk (which I loved), but also because of the higher level of maturity, depth and the fact that it didn't have to live in the shadow of the original to be great It is just like "Ben 10: Alien Force" or "The Prisoner of Azkaban" Plus, it is easier for me to identify with young adults than children and teenagers

I completely disagree. I think TLA is a lot better with better character arcs, animation, amazing mature themes and an overall consistent run. TLOK had more rough patches to it, especially with Season 2. I also disagree with being able to easily identify with young adults more than kids and teenagers. I think that is a load of crap. As long as you can identify with any character no matter how older or younger they are, it should be great overall.

Something that's alway's irked me is that Air Bending never got anything more. Water Bending ~ Ice. Blood Bending. Fire Bending ~ Lightning. Combustionbending. Earth Bending ~ Metal Bending. Seismic Sense. Lava Bending. Air Bending ~ Nothing, just air. How ever I did think of 2 thing's. Air Fire Bending ~ Could be accomplished by an Air Bender by bending the Air, Oxygen, in a fire. Not simply to deflect but to really bend it. To an untrained eye and a non-bender, there'd be no difference from Fire Bending. Air Water Bending ~ Could be accomplished by an Air Bender by bending the Air, Oxygen, in water. Not simply to deflect but to really bend it. I'm not really a fan of endings where the bad guys win so whenever I hear avatar Last Airbender book two Earth I think the words "you should have gone for the head" from Thanos when he got what he wanted

I would have switched numbers 3 & 4, and also switched 1&2, but this is close to being accurate.

I love both seasons/series, also 6:24 I agree with you they could have done without that episode it was terrible the only one in the series that was.

It’s rare that this happens, but this is literally the exact order I would put these in 😁.

I have to disagree on the last too book 3 fire should be number one yes it does have episodes that don’t really move the story along but we do get to see sokka become a master and take down a majorly overpowered enemy in combustion man and we get to see iroh become a tank and his reunion with zuko still makes me cry and he reaches the earth kingdom palace as a conguerer just as he always knew he would zuko and aang find the last two dragons and while the lion turtle does take a little away from the finale just it speticle is more than enough for me to be ok with it

No matter, which one you like more, everyone can agree that both TLB Seasons 2 and 3 belong at the top. Of course, TLOK Season 2 is the worst, and nobody would argue with that.

You know I would like to see them redo the Legend of Korra and get it right, because it honestly isn't bad- it just doesn't keep up with the last air bender. So much of the show was spent trying to figure out what it wanted to be, trying to tell really big and complex stories in a very constrained amount of time, and not really delving into the emotional depths of the characters that the good things of the show sort of get outshined. But it is a good show, and it has a lot of really interesting stories to tell and the foundation for great characters- they just need a second chance to really get it right. And a lot of the flaws were do to the network restraints and the many changes they faced so they really do need a second shot to tell the story the way they wanted to.

Agreed! There’s a video on KZread where someone rewrote the ending of season 1 and all of season 2. It’s so much better. Korra doesn’t get her bending back at the end of season 1. In season 2 Korra has to go on a journey to the four nations to regain her connection by learning from the original benders. And the best part of all she keeps her connection to her past lives in the end.
