Didn’t know I could copy paste the keyboard config! Super cool!

I just got my second Elektron box, the Analog Rytm mkii. I sold my Octatrack because I’m such a beginner with Elektron stuff that I just could not wrap my head around it. I’ve had Rytm for a couple of days and so far I’m understanding it way easier than the Octatrack. The videos I’ve watched on Elektron boxes have been convoluted, difficult to follow, people pressing buttons and taking and it’s happening so fast I can’t understand anything and I’m lost and frustrated. Your video is the complete opposite, totally easy to follow and sprinkled with humor and character. Thank you!! Subscribed immediately and I also love Perfect Circuit as I live in LA and try to get over there whenever I can.

We can also copy a pattern or sthg else and go to another project and paste it! very useful

It’s nice to have a channel doing such a good content . I’m trying to figure out what is better for me. An Analog Rytm mkt 2 or the digitakt + the syntak. I need one or the other to create my own drum samples in the studio.. I work a lot with sound design and in the DAW I usually use synth and sample layers to make my own drum sounds. When I say digitakt + syntak it’s because I’m thinking about syncing the MIDI of the two devices and layering the synth (of syntak) with samples (of the digitakt). Example: in digitakt a clap sample and in the syntak a synth model clap. I’m trying to figure out which choice has more sound design power. In the Analog Rytm mkt 2 I can resample… but in the digitakt + syntak it looks like there is a bigger range of sounds for me to tweak and experiment with. What would be your suggestion? Thank you

hmm it's a tough question honestly! I think that if you're purely looking for IN STUDIO use, maybe the digitakt / syntakt would be the way to go - My reason for this is : -They're a little bit more approachable, easier to pick up and use if you're not already in the "elektron headspace" very immediate and sound great. - the digitakt has a little bit more robust sample engine, especially for recording, and the Syntakt has maybe a little more in the way of "melodic" digital machines. - you can TRY one and see if it gels with you for half the price as well -They're also both excellent with overbridge. I think that the RYTM really has the edge in a FEW zones overall, but for me they feel mostly based around performance: - the extra slide trigs / performance knob macros / scenes - Kits are a thing on the RYTM, not on the ST or DT unfortunately ( the main thing that kits gives you is if you tweak a sound in a kit, it applies that tweak to all patterns that use that kit. - pads are nice ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ individual outputs are nice, the main compressor and distortion is nice but you can really get both those effects with the syntakt. The Rytm is a flagship for a reason! You can also score a MK1 for about the cost of a ST nowadays so really it comes down to what you think you'll work better with!

Make an addendum where you copy/paste patterns while sequencer is running.

Y'know, I was just sitting at my 'takt this morning asking myself "what even can I copy?" "Oops, can I undo that?" Well, now I know. You have my thanks. I missed the plant typing this comment, but I'm sure it's lovely.

I want to say thank you for what you do but I also have a weird gripe. I think Paste and Clear should be switched around. I don't get why the second function for the Play button is Clear, while the second function for the Stop button is Paste. It seems like it should be the other way around, doesn't it? Am I the only one that thought about this? Is there like a reason in the programming architecture or whatever? Minor gripe, but hey, thanks so much for all these great tips.

man i feel you, i agree, i feel like play being paste and stop being clear would make a lot more sense mentally to me too

for the life of me, I don't get why they just don't add an undo/redo button... 🤦‍♂

worth noting pasting patterns on the digitakt across projects is uhh, not as nice

i dont think you can, you may be able to load the sequence data, but not the sounds :p at least on the digi/ syntakt.

The background music is super annoying if played the entire video. While the content is so valuable.

Copy and paste sound is not working! Any tips? Followed exactly like you did.. it seemed to almost copy some of the parameters but not the sound itself?

What device are you using and what are you copying? You may need to disengage the sequencer

can you copy all of the patterns at once into another pattern? I've been having to copy them over one by one, highly annoying. If there isnt a way thats a huge miss by elektron.

The 1st rule of "Flight Club"... lol Pilotwings honestly went hard but some of that stuff is pretty unhinged. "Bonus Game" is completely insane. Koji Kondo started gettin real loose with it in the early 90s. So inspiring lol
