    I hope so mate, but we currently don't fill the demographic. FFP, is crippling us. Think back a few years, to when Man City were spending billions. Now look at it now. City are European Champions, having been allowed to spend indiscriminately before FFP regulations arrived. The system is flawed, and is responsible for doing the opposite of what it was introduced to do. Get rid of FFP, and allow some competition.

    Brilliant video and insights about a great club's history. My team is Aston Villa, also a club with a fantastic history. The first time I saw Everton play was at Villa Park in an FA cup semi final against Man City which ended in a disappointing one nil win for Oil City in front of 63000. I've always been interested in Everton's fortunes since this game which was in 1969, I was 14 at the time. Our league cup final games were epic in the 70's. I went to Wembley and Hillsborough but was ill for the game at Old Trafford... DAMN! BTW, thank you for Ken McNaught and Derek Mountfield. The very best of luck for this season and the move to your new ground next year. Great result for you guys at Brentford yesterday ⚽⚽⚽ UTV

    A little bit of history on the name Prince Ruperts tower …. During the English civil and the siege of Liverpool castle , the royalist army had its headquarters on Everton brow , which is the highest point in Liverpool. He had an army of around 10,000 men ( the population of Liverpool was only 3000) they dug trenches and set up gun positions in the area to defend the area from the parliamentarian army advancing from Manchester and Wigan .

    Has anyone else twigged that perhaps Theo Kelly got his towers mixed up. Up to watching this film I didn't know that EFC had used the original Everton Beacon on its letterhead back in the 1890s When he designed the badge in 1938 Kelly referred to puzzling over the design for months and deciding on the 'beacon'. The lock up (Prince Pupert's tower) was never a beacon. Had he meant the original tower the emblem could have turned out very differently

  • @evertonfcheritagesociety

    @evertonfcheritagesociety

    The Everton Beacon was demolished in 1803, so Kelly never saw it. By 1938 the lock-up was a very familiar building to all in the area. So highly unlikely he mixed them up.
