That third goal still brings a tear to my eye. What a team that was. Everyone was a defender, and everyone was a striker. Goals came from everywhere. We were relentless. And Howard looking so proud and happy at the end is just the icing on the cake. Awesome.

Best night I ever had at Goodison. Talking to a Bayern fan on the bus back to town, all he talked about was the crowd! I still think the 2nd leg being at home is what made the difference between these two great teams

@@yesyesyesimdoingallthetime2770 European fans didn't come here like they do now, most I remember was Feyenoord in Bullens road upper. I saw a few Bayern fans in the main stand. I was in the paddock (where away fans gon now) so maybe there was some Bayern behind us but don't remember seeing any & definitely didn't hear them...Be a lot different now eh?

@@yesyesyesimdoingallthetime2770. I was up on the top balcony and there were groups of BM fans up there as well. Everyone just had a great time during the match and enjoyed the football. Surprised that other fans are more prone to causing trouble than enjoying a match.

My dear Dad was at this match. He was old school. Went to football games wearing a suit and tie. I'll never forget, he came back home... and he'd lost the tie! Apparently it was mayhem!

Best night of watching footy in MY LIFE!!!

I’m a red but remembered willing Everton on. Most people weren’t bitter in those days. I’m sure one of the Bayern players said after the match “zat was not fussball, it was war”.

I went to the game early with my mate Ray. We thought we would go for a couple of pints first. We never had a chance to. We saw the gathering thousands outside and said sod this. We normally went into the street end not far from where the boys pen used to be. But there were that many queueing up early we jumped into the shortest queue we could see. We ended up in the enclosure not far from the players tunnel. One of the best nights of my life.

I was in the enclosure myself, and you are right about the noise. It was the first time that I had heard the entire stadium singing.

I went to every home tie and the final . Best team and atmosphere I've ever experienced in my 60 yrs as a bluenose. This team would've ran through a brick wall for Howard. I spotted Mr. Kendall at Palma Airport, tapped him on the shoulder and a very short conversation followed. " Mr Kendall"? "Yes" he replied, "I'd just like to thank you for the best times I'm ever likely to have as an evertonian". He replied, " it was good wasn't it"? I shook his hand and walked away!!

I couldn't go the final but i went to every home game in cup winners cup games the semi final v bayern Munich was brilliant

Everton are a great football club and this just shows it. What an atmosphere!! MCFC OK

This Everton team would have had a great opportunity to win the European Cup in the period that followed had it not been for they Heysel ban which basically should have been standing for ONE club only not the whole of English football.

biggest mistake the German's made was coming to Goodison in red shirts Red shorts and Red socks. like a red rag to a bull on Merseyside.

Not a very smart move & decission by UEFA. If UEFA was and is smart, they should've had just banned the english supporters from attending the game. Not the club! I believe it's not a club & players fault. It's a fan fault! If English club still allowed to be participated in continental tournament after the Heysel tragedy, every of their home game stadium should be empty. I'd love to see an English team like Everton be allowed to compete in Europe even with the empty stadium

2nd European competition after European cup(UCL these day). The competition was belong for the club that won the domestic trophy prior the season such as FA Cup, Copa Del Rey, DFB Pokal, etc, etc. Whereas, UEFA cup was the 3rd competition at the time.

So you would class that team as a long ball, hoof it and hope one? You haven’t a clue mate. I suggest you watch some videos of that team and educate yourself! Watch the Sunderland home game in April 85. Hoof it teams don’t win goal of the month and 2nd and 3rd all from the same match! Not to mention winning goal of the season with Sharps goal against the Dark Side.
