As a relatively new Evertonian I clicked this because of interest in the Palace match of the last generation

Not the last game of the season but similar scenes tonight.

I’m here, 82 now,exciting stuff,a repeat of the blues v c palace.marvellous is all I can say .j.c.

27 years ago today. Remember it like yesterday. The atmosphere in Goodison for Barry's thunderbolt and Graham's winner was the best I've ever experienced in the hundreds of times I've attended matches there. Not bad considering the Park End was a building site. Hard to know where all that time has gone. Great experience to relive. COYB. NSNO.

@@craigmullen9046 Remember that equally well. Our grandfather died day before the Final so out of respect we didn't attend. He'd have been a Blue all his life and seeing the FA Cup being raised for only the fifth time in his lifetime (and their history) would've meant the world to him. Sadly wasn't to be. Maybe he had a word in the shell-like of a higher power!

@@EFC1878Mark Every bit as tense. Thankfully the twelfth man of the Gwladys rose to the occasion when it mattered most for the home matches against United, Chelsea and Palace. Once they scored the first goal in the second half agsinst the Eagles there was only going to be one winner. :)

I was at that game. Unbelievable match.

I wouldn't say that winning goal was dodgy, but I think Dr Stephen Hawking could have saved that shot.

I remember this game as a kid, 1-2 down at half Time. I was in the Gwladys street and remember Barry Horne putting it the top corner, and graham Stuart poking it past hans Segers. There was so much passion in this game and I will never forget it. The only game I can compare it to is david moyes first game in charge against Fulham where the atmosphere was so loud. Every time I go to goodison I have so many memories and get goosebumps everytime I walk up them stairs in the Gwladys street COYB 💙

Ah Barry Horne. I was in tears at the end. Mike Walker was out of his depth, but there were signs of progress and remember he was the Manager who welcomed in The Big Man (and also Iain Durrant, sadly plagued by injury).

28 May 2023, and today Abdolaye Docour saved us!

30 years ago today. Will watch the Great Escape DVD tonight in honour of all Everton supporter's JFK moment.

I'll always remember this match, I couldn't bare watching it so I did some decorating to take my mind off it. My mate came round and said Everton were losing 2-0 so I excepted we were going down, imagine my face when I found out the final result :)

That's why fans should never give up or leave matches early, look how Sheff Wed turned around a 4-0 result to beat Peterborough in the play off final, fans were actually selling there tickets

I remember that Everton winning goal and thinking at the time that the keeper made virtually no effort to save a very weak shot. When the match fixing story broke, I immediately thought of this goal.

I was at this game in the lower bullens end just by the street end with my dad and I was 12 years old and I'll never forget that Barry Horne strike. Humdinger

People saying that the Wimbledon goalie "made no effort" to save the winner don't know anything about football. Short back-lift is always difficult to stop because it takes any goalie by surprise.

Why are idiots saying it was fixed??? Wimbledon could score 4 or 5, but fail. Can't say that they don't try. Of course the keeper as to blame in the goal, but i've seen way worse.

Well it wasn’t fixed in the way you think but no hands sagers got a Bung for that match. And the third goal showed that. Plus I loved the one where he moved to his front post in one of the clips and the Everton player hit it at him 🤣🤣

The same way West Ham are in it this season, when they have the CMs who start for England & Brazil making up their midfield. It's when managers put a rigid defensive system first, & don't play to the strengths of the players they have. The more creative players then lose confidence & start playing badly.

This is one of the games Hans Segars was accused of throwing. Watch how he dives over the shot in one of Evertons goals. Looks bad to me. MOT.

This game was bent, there were 3 or 4 Wimbledon players intent on throwing the game and they still nearly won. 🤔

Think Palace threw it like Wimbledon did. Everton aren't good enough to come back from 0-2 as the bulk of their players are league 1 standard.

I've been taking the P out of my Toffees mate for 25 years but the real controversy is the Everton penalty, clearly a dive and nowadays would have been rightly not given on VAR with a booking too. Segars had better opportunities to let a goal in so have belatedly cleared him of cheating.
