This day changed my life. Lonely unhappy child, nothing ever happened near me or where I lived until this. Unfortunately Wednesday lost but not long after, the 1966 World Cup came calling. Hillsborough was one of the venues. Had to wait till 1968 to get to see Sheffield Wednesday play. I was 12 by then. My love for Wednesday has never faded despite numerous setbacks. I am now 67 years old, Wednesday till I die. Supporting them saved my life, luckily now I came to believe in God. Supporting Wednesday kept me going until coming to belief in God. I now think the Almighty uses circumstances in our lives to draw us to Him. I pray every blessing to Sheffield Wednesday before the throne of God because I lived to find faith because of them. Wednesday kept me going through a lot of years when I had nothing else. Anyone out there reading this, please ask God to reveal His truth to you, show you His presence, show you how Jesus paid the price for your sins. Just admit it to Him and ask for forgiveness. God hears and rejoices when a sinner comes to Him. Don't be afraid to ask!!

I went to every cup match that season, including the final. The Everton manager was vilified for not reinserted usual forward Fred Pickering after injury. However he chose to play Mike Trebilcock. What a stroke of genius that turned out to be as Trebilcock ghosted in to score two almost identical goals. I well remember Shirly sorry Derek Temples run away goal, and the supporter running across the field being chased by Policeman, left sprawling on the grass after failing to grab supporter by the jacket. Priceless memories.

Fantastic footage. There is always something slightly innocent about these old newsreels, and even just the culture of the day. You can see it in the way players celebrate jumping on the spot, guys running on the pitch in suits and Bobby´s tripping over themselves to catch them before giving them a firm-but-fair tackle! It is weird when you juxtapose it with all the darker undersides of the day (horrendous racism, rampant sexism, legalised homophobia, imperialism) I was born almost 30 years after this, but everything I see from the 60s in terms of the occasion, the crowds, the competetiveness, the number of title-winners in that decade, Britain´s first European Cups. And all of this before hooliganism properly set in. This surely has to be the Golden Age of British football? Would love to have seen it in person. It is a massive shame the FA Cup has lost its prestige.

Because we had a hell of a team back then, and you honour any team that got to a final, regardless of them losing. It's not like it's gone on an honours board, like it would at Bramall Lane!

Four years later Brian Labone would know all about how it felt to let a two-goal lead slip into a defeat. Allowed Germany's third goal against England in the World Cup match by ball-watching instead of marking his man (Muller).

How football success has changed when it's considered more successful to finish 4th in the premiership than to win the FA cup . The cup winners cup should never have been discontinued and the European cup should be for premiership winners only.

Any Evertonians know the reason why when Everton played WBA in the 1968 FA cup final Everton wore their away colours of amber ? WBA wore white tops.

John hicton should have played in the final one of Wednesdays great utility player's if he had the defence would have held Everton and Wednesday should have never let him go to Middlesbrough my opinion is the FA cup of 1966 would have come to sheffield
