Love my max so much I bought two more H9's
Thanks man. I appreciate your effort here.
The crushstation didn't sound that bad. But the sound in the video might not be true representation of what youre hearing.
Great short review - totally agree with you on the various distortion algorithms - I also failed to get properly usable tones compared to all my analog dirt pedals - the pitch-shifting, modulation and time-based effects here are superb though - and I really recommend the Barn3 OX9 enclosure - to get the most out of the H9.
Very decent review! Thank You
Gear Gods rock the hell out of 2019 . 😎 Troy Frost
Wait it only runs one effect at a time?
Impressive pedal. I used to own a DSP400b+, way too complex (no app back then) and of course rack based :). I am about to try to get one off eBay.
Great review. Is it true bypass?
dude... you sold me with the trooper!
LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!
How much is upgrading the core one to max one?

can you buy the max version and the core and tranfer from the expensive to the cheaper one ?

I own two H9s but does its price point even make sense when Line 6 HX Stomp is now available?
Got it for $320 new can’t complain. Use it in the fx loop in my headrush gigboard. Fun for bass or guitar for sure 🤘
I got mine since last week. I really love this lill thin. but my bluetooth doesn't work wit my iMac 27...I have to connect it with a cable. don't know why?? I don't have any problems to connect it via bluetooth with my iPad tho... seems a lill weird to me!

TheNimasan you can only connect the H9 to a computer thru usb cable.
So if i used a midi controller with one of these would that allow me to assign certain effects to certain switches?
@morrisfraser7236

Yes - every parameter can be controlled by CC and PC calls up new algorithms or presets.
I've never seen anyone make one of these sound this badly.
Are the colours in the thumbnail an UNO reference? I love that game.
Can't get my head around where to place a H9 in the signal chain of an effects board. For different types of effects I would choose a different place in the signal chain. Eg if you place it as a "wildcard" in front of your delay and you want to use a reverb algorithm it would feel kind of misplaced if you want to use both effects at a time. Are there any solutions for this except a Loop-Switcher with a ordering function?
@treyxaviermusic

Yeah I'm not sure that there is another way, it needs to be flexible in its signal chain placement otherwise you can't really use all its different functions.

Yes; it can operate in Pre/Post mode, which means that it is routed twice in your signal chain. Beware of ground loops. EDIT: This is accessible both through the app and directly on the pedal. Enter "System Mode" on the pedal and scroll to "Routing". Or from the app, enter "General Settings" on the "Pedal" tab, and scroll down to "Routing". It has 3 Main "Global" routing options: Normal, Pre/Post, and Wet/Dry. You can then assign the routing per patch/preset, from Wet1/Dry2 to Wet2/Dry1, etc. Per patch, you can find the routing assignment in the "More" tab (thru the app) located in the upper right corner. On the pedal, this is accessible when a preset is selected but bypassed, then hold the Left Footswitch. this enters another "Menu" mode, idk what to call it. Keep holding the Left Footswitch. You can get global input gain here, as well as per patch Output levels. Scroll to Routing, click the black encoder and assign the routing. Then release the footswitch. Just remember to save the preset after making these changes.

I figured there was something like that, there's just so many features I couldn't even get through them all hahaha

@@treyxaviermusic haha yup, this thing has options for days. like, the drive algorithms all have a noise gate for cryin' out loud. Easily enough content in the H9 for some more videos eh?
Love mine. Spot on review; wildcard is exactly the description.... and the drives suck.
so no effect chain? only one effect at the same time?
@morrisfraser7236
3 жыл бұрын
Alexey Kurilo Most of the good algorithms have three FX in the chain. These are the newer algorithms. The older ones from the old pedals like the Time Factor tend just to be one FX, so not chainable. That’s why most people with one H9 tend to have two units.
I just couldn't like this pedal even though I really wanted to. I feel like the learning curve & time to set-up/adjust presets were not worth the functions I needed it for. The Line 6 M13 was much better suited for what I needed as creating scenes for different songs with multiple effects worked much better for me. Also, the user interface was easier on the M13 as I didn't need to break out my iPad to make multiple adjustments. As always with gear YMMV.

To me it's a very very high price
When you started playing Superstition by Stevie Wonder I was like "what?!"
"It's not Tower of Power..." 😆
The drives are lacking......hmmmm, guess I'll have to use my Freidman JJ Junior as add-on. That marriage might work.
Say outrageous one more time
i clearly don’t know what good distortion sounds like, bc I thought Crushstation sounded good

A lot of metal players might prefer a scooped mid sound, they never realize not everyone goes for that. Instead, the distortion is not great but it is pretty balanced. Few metal players go for balanced, but each to his own.

Not that impressed. Electro Harmonix does poly synth stuff pretty well. I like my H9 esp for the rotary speaker patch. Insta-organ!
Why is this distortion bad lol. That’s straight “rock guitar” without any shit and buzz. That’s a good thing i guess, nobody pays so much attention to the tone come on guys
Hmmmm, had higher hopes for that pedal. May skip it
Too much talk and no sound examples?
The delays SUCKED and the distortion sounded like a tube amp actually

I agree that the demo's delay sounds were horrible. The truth is that Eventide's TimeFactor delays, which are available for the H9, pretty much nail every delay sound, especially if you're willing to tweak. Check out the TimeFactor demos to hear the possibilities for yourself. Also check out SpaceTime, the H9 combo algorithm of delay, chorus, and reverb. And you can get good delay effects from some of the PitchFactor algos, too.
