I set up an in the drawer Iphone 6 which is clipped to the mike stand for the 10 settings I use it for most the time..then you buy the Barnes 3 and attach this to the front which give you up down on the fly,,you set your 10 most used settings on the first 10. Troy Van Leeuwen has this all over the QOTSA. The key is to go into the crazy settings and then you tweek them back to make them musical as Tim says!

Just traded out my old HX effects for one of these yesterday. Honestly, it is like getting the effects engine from every high-end processor on the planet (Fractal, Eventide, Kemper, etc) in a tiny little box. It alone blows the HX series stuff out of the water. The character of the tone and effects is truly something special. I run this in stereo in the loop of my Synergy rack and it is glorious. Totally silent and zero delay in effects switching.

My issue with many of the ALL IN THE BOX FX pedals is that If I want to have different iterations of things - I can't have them all running together and then switch them in or out of the signal sequence like I could with individual stomp boxes. For a session player, these units make a LOT of sense ... but for somebody looking to experiment on the fly organically, these units have their limitations.

Tim, great video so glad you did this one. I have had my eye on Eventide gear for awhile. I am debating an H9 vs one of the older rack mount style Harmonizers (that I've wanted since high school lol). Can you comment on how the H9 compares to some of that older rack gear or even the Eclipse? I am mainly looking for the diatonic harmonies, delays, reverbs etc... just the basics really. It seems like some of the newer patches can kind of go off the deep end pretty quickly.

Studio69 Thanks, bud. I wound up with 4 because since they’ll only do one effect at a time, I wanted to have one for each pedal application (modulation, time, environment, and color) so that I have independent control of each. Also, be sure to check out Barn 3’s aftermarket stuff for H9. It adds two more buttons to it that you can program to do anything, along with the Tesla remote switch that you can also program to do whatever you want, plus the ability to put it anywhere on your board that you want. I have a Tesla switch on the very bottom left corner of my board and I programmed it to toggle in and out of tuner mode on the furthest left H9, along with muting the signal when it’s in the aforementioned tuner mode. It’s also handy to use as a crude mute for patches like Shimmer for when you want to abruptly kill its decay. Just a quick two stomps on the Tesla in and out of tuner mode. (I’m sure there’s a more elegant way to do it. Haha but it’s gets me where I’m goin’.) Enjoy, brutha!!!!

Here's how I know Tim Pierce is a great guitarist: I never know it's him when I hear him. People have always said you know a great guitarist because you can hear a few notes and immediately recognize them. I believe the exact opposite. A true master isn't bound by their own tendencies. It's extremely hard to break those chains.

Yeah, I noticed that too. Side is way harder than it looks! I mean, it's not hard to play slide, but it's hard to play slide in TUNE. Tim does it perfectly.

I have the same view with my Timefactor. Any other delay feels like an awkward blend between wet and dry. Maybe it's just what I'm used to. Also have the H9 Max. It's not going anywhere!

Thx so much...this is fantastic. Also , your vibrato is 'sooo smooth'. 👍 Do you have an exercise you recommend? I rely too much on my tremolo.
