"My Immortal" is a song by American rock band Evanescence. It was released on December 8, 2003 as the third single from their debut studio album Fallen. The song was entirely written by former guitarist Ben Moody, with the exception of the bridge, which was later added by Amy Lee, and it was produced by Dave Fortman. "My Immortal" was included on their EP releases Evanescence and Mystary and on the demo CD Origin. The version placed on Origin was later included on their first studio album Fallen. The single version of the song was called "band version" because of the additional band performing the bridge and final chorus of the song.
"My Immortal" is a piano rock ballad written in slow and free tempo with 80 beats per minute. Ben Moody was inspired to write it by a previous story that happened to him. Lyrically, it talks about "a spirit staying with you after its death and haunting you until you actually wish that the spirit were gone because it won't leave you alone."[3] Moody later revealed that the song was written for his grandfather Bill Holcomb. Critical reception towards the song were positive with critics complimenting its piano melody. The song became Evanescence's second highest charting single, peaking within the top ten of more than ten countries. It topped the charts in Canada, Greece and Billboard's Adult Pop Songs. The single was certified Gold status by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) and Platinum by the Australian Recording Industry Association (ARIA).

2024 rock in rio quem vai rever esse hino ?
Lembro que eu devia ter uns 20, 21 anos nessa época e estava acompanhando a transmissão e chorando por não poder estar nesse show, era impossível tanto logistica quanto financeiramente. Mas eu tinha, dentro de mim, a sensação de que um dia eu ia ouvir essa música ao vivo e no dia 23/10/2023, eu tinha 33 anos e eu estava lá em Recife, chorando copiosamente, vendo Amy Lee cantar e foi o dia mais feliz da minha vida. Nunca vou atingir o nível de felicidade que senti nesse dia. E digo mais: se vocês têm um sonho de adolescência e podem realizar, façam isso. Não importa a idade, não importa o que digam pra vocês.

I remember that I must have been around 20, 21 years old at that time and I was watching the broadcast and crying because I couldn't be at this show, it was impossible both logistically and financially. But I had, inside me, the feeling that one day I would hear this song live and on 10/23/2023, I was 33 years old and I was there in Recife, crying profusely, watching Amy Lee sing and it was the happiest day of my life. I will never reach the level of happiness I felt that day. And I'll say more: if you have a teenage dream and you can make it come true, do it. It doesn't matter your age, it doesn't matter what they tell you.

@@ivomagalhaes9265 infelizmente eu tava lá no fundo. Muito tumultuado a minha ida pra ver esse show. Aconteceu uns imprevistos. Mas consegui carona pra ir a tempo. Uma correria que nem vale a pena me lembrar. Mas pelo menos consegui ver o show e ver a musa do rock mesmo de longe.

The lyrics algorithms are the best I’ve seen in years. Amy Lee has this gift of holding falsetto very well with pitch and length. Awesome song. But, I’m sure someone out there can kill it like a Whitney Houston / I will always love you. Etc.

I don't know where the person writing the intro gets the information from. On this song, Amy is listed before moody as songwriter. That may very well be a mistake by the bqnd. But that the band did it this way, means the idea that moody wrote everything except a bridge is just nonsensical. Though, Amy considers this ben's song. He wrote all the lyrics. Absolutely.

Wtf you cut the ending that was one of the best parts of it... still my favorite version of my immortal, even better than her 1995 version which had different lyrics, hate how she took those parts out but it was for the best and changed the piano chords which made it even more beautiful. :)

This is how it was aired. There are two released versions of this concert. A shorter and a longer. The latter has less cuts, but its quality is inferior, so I went with the former. You can see from the logo which version is which.

Interesting....Watch at 3:16 over and over. Pay attention to the drums. Sounds like they're playing to a track of the song. What the drummer is playing and what the sound the drums are making are way way way off. May just be me but as a drummer, that's pretty damn obvious it's prerecorded. Kick ass song either way lol, giving all credit where credit is due, epic epic song! P.S. Bands will track drums without the cymbals intentionally from time to time. Drummer puts a pad over the snare/toms (Or the snare/toms are a trigger from the get go) and mimics playing while simply just hitting the cymbals to make it appear live. Nifty little trick.

I can explain better... In Rock in Rio, the sound is recorded a little bit far form the stage, as light reaches the camera almost instantly, sound takes it's time to reach the microphone!

The sound of her breaths slightly annoys me throughout the performance of the song, but the crowd, and her passion, and the melody of the piano make it all memorable. What a song, what a voice, what a band!
