That's a HUGE PROBLEM, because she's as classically-trained as they come. It's not just her voice, but it's her keyboards, piano, and guitar talent too. Taylor Swift really is that great, and a great alternative to this dreck.

Just saw Evanescence last night with Halestorm. This song is still so powerful and emotional. She told the audience to sing along. She said something to the effect of “I think you should know the words, it’s only been 20 years.” 🥰

She delivers the song with so much hurt in her voice it's so gorgeous

Amy has a vocal quality you can only describe as "hauntingly beautiful." She is what I would imagine a ghost of a singer would sound like. The fact that she found a way to fuse that with rock of all genres is amazing. It doesn't feel forced at all, either.

This is the song that finally broke open the floodgates a year after my dad took his life at age 47. And it still gets me every time I hear it

The first time I heard this song it stopped me dead in my tracks. I just stood there mesmerised and in agony feeling as though my heart was getting shattered by some invisible hammer. The emotions she poured into every lyric is mental. What a voice!

You have the most emotionally expressive face I've ever seen, it makes watching these so much more fascinating.

Got to see Evanescence on tour with Halestorm, Hell Yeah and Chevelle. Fantastic show. When Amy was out rocking the stage and then the ambient lights turned on and she sat behind the piano, the entire vibe changed. An arena full of metal heads singing along to a slow piano melody. Very cool to be a part of.

The song that really makes me emotional is Hello, which Amy wrote about her experience with little sister's death. It's heartbreaking, but Amy never performed it live, which is understandable. Far From Heaven from 2021's The Bitter Truth is also heartbreaking; Any wrote it after her struggle with her little brother's death and her struggle with faith

After all these years, I finally _can_ hear these songs and tear up... And I wish I was still stupid and innocent enough to think this is all about romance like I did when I was a dumb teenager. What sounded like melodrama after sadly having lost some key people in my life now sounds and feels like knifes tearing me apart with how accurately it discusses grief. What a beautiful song that I can't stand listening too often...

This album dropped shortly after my son passed. This song hit HARD for me. I almost have trouble keeping it together when I hear it today, over 16 years.

Heaven is a halfpipe the song always reminds me of my brothers friend who was killed on his motorbike only 5minutes from home, it was released the day after he died and everyone knew it was a song made for him as he loved skate boarding, bmxing etc it’s amazing how much music touches you

My crush for Amy Lee has never died. Her voice is so angelic, powerful, dark, and emotional. Just as beautiful as she is.

I love your facial expressions. It's so wonderful to see how excited you get about music/vocals but also how you anticipate it.

I met her at the family values tour backstage. She was a tiny little thing who was incredibly gracious kind and humble. I’ll never forget that moment. Her voice isn’t the only thing that’s angelic in my opinion.

Is that nickname of yours inspired by the lyrics in Skid Row’s 18 and Life? Just wondering.

That vocal line with the band coming in gets me every time. The raw emotion that is conveyed through the band and her voice is breathtaking..literally for a few seconds. The band as powerful as that line is with all of it coming together still doesn't overpower her it is sync beautifully. This one of the best songs in that Era. She was underrated back then and still is, one of the best singers on the planet.

She's helped me though dark times. Always my comfort music.

In my opinion Amy Lee is one of the best female vocalist I've ever heard. I get tears every time I hear her sing. Her voice is as real as it gets.

around 1,30 she is so impressed by the public that she turn herself around and say wow to her band. These are some of the rare moments in live concerts that the energy and vibe is so strong and connected between the public and the performers that the performers themselves are impressed. It's just magic

First time I heard this song was right after my twin sister/best friend passed I used to put this song on repeat and just listen to it and cry for hours

Amy's voice is so unique. Anything from “Synthesis" dvd is worth watching, if I may suggest.

The hallmark of excellence in an artistic singer isn’t limited to pitch; autotune handles pitch, or is used by a producer to achieve “effects.” Neither of those are attractive. (Listen to a Maren Morris live cut for example: she /needs/ the studio- and autotune to maintain pitch and sound LOL) Saying that “she doesn’t use autotune” has anything to do with her sounding the same live as in the studio totally misses 95% or more of what provides for her being labeled a great vocalist. You’re posting on a vid from a vocal coach’s channel with absolutely no idea of the elements of singing- or the fortunate genetics that give Amy Lee an excellent natural voice to build or layer the elements over.

@@fishhuntadventure Exactly. You can have absolutely perfect pitch, but the amount of power, tone, dynamic range, breath control, phrasing... These are all things people who don't understand music completely overlook when they just write things off with "auto-tune", which honestly isn't really used much anymore. Melodyne and manual adjustments are typically the way engineers will correct a take. But even if you hit a note somewhat flat or sharp, correcting it will not fix the tone, power, timbre, etc.

Just saw Evanescence this past Friday and they ended with this song. It was magical and brought tears to my eyes. Amy's voice is so perfect and her performance was absolutely flawless. It was the last day of her tour with Halestorm. One of the best nights of my life:)

I've known her voice for over 15 years and still haven't got over how beautiful her tone is.

I was on the Newport, Kentucky side of the Ohio River one time and Evanescence was playing on the Cincinnati side at a festival, you could hear her all the way across the river in perfect tone it was awesome.

I first heard this song when I was 9....and by that point in my life I had lost everything including my innocence...and when I heard this song I broke into tears because I really felt that pain.

1:15 in and I'm tearing up. This song has always hung in my heart for some reason, and i can never get through it without crying or tearing up. Meanwhile, I've broken bones, popped ribs, and been injured on job sites at work etc., and none of that hurts like trying to make it through this song with tears

That build to the band, especially that growl and belt, always felt like going through the stages of grief, into anger at the belt, and then finally into acceptance. The older I get, the more personal experience I can find in this song.

I just get chills every time I hear her sing. Her voice goes right through me and hits every emotion.

This song was mostly written by ex-cofounder Ben Moody, and Amy (singer) wrote the bridge. The song was mostly his and about his grandfather. Some people speculate it’s about Amy’s sister, who she lost when she was around 6 years old, but it’s not. ‘Hello’ and ‘Like You’ are about Amy’s sister.

I liked the comment, but if your intention with this was to belittle Amy Lee as a songwriter by the fact that she didn't write most of My Immortal, then f*ck you. Amy Lee composed Fallen along with Ben and was not his shadow. "Lithium" is an example of her songwriting alone and is a fantastic song.

Seen Evanescence live a couple times. Once very early on after the release of Fallen. And then again just a couple of months ago. It's amazing how well Amy does this song nearly 20 years on. I do miss the little bit of reverberation beeping from recording at the end.

When my dad passed away, this song made me cry for hours. It got my through many days of depression.

While we're still on this Evanescence train, also highly recommend her songs "Lithium" and "Good Enough" from The Open Door album. Love to hear your thoughts on them.

Began listening to Evanescence qhen I was around 12-13. Almost 30 and her vocals still make me choke up and almost burst out crying. I've yet to suffer the loss of a loved one. When I do, I'll have company.

“Lacrymosa” would be what I’d like to see the reaction for. Especially the “Synthesis” version. I got to see the concert live and it was amazing. A full orchestra playing Mozart, and Amy slaying it was amazing. Plus Will on those drums! And then Jen with the theremin, I mean, what? “My Immortal” is beautiful, yes, but (personal opinion) not their best and overrated.

This song was so early. Its at least 20 years old and this concert 15 years ago. She's married with a kid now. Holding weight but looking good for her 40s. More important she has improved her vocal skills. Synthesis recorded in Germany circa 2018. So much more raw power and higher notes. I believe the song was about her music partner and band member Ben Moody ( keyboards?) Who left the band just before Fallen was released and went worldwide. This and 3 other songs were on the Daredevil movie with Ben Aflak & Jeniffer Garner. Movie was considered a flop. Bring me to life and Going Under being the other 2 tracks. Like I said check out recent albums. The new one releasing is the bitter truth. Should be on the lookout.

I’m from Little Rock, and when “Fallen” came out you couldn’t walk into the grocery store without hearing them. 🙂 She’s made this song hers over time and I like that. But this song doesn’t challenge her vocally or show off her brilliance as a musician. I think that’s why so many comments are talking about “synthesis” live or other songs. The only reason I even brought up “Lacrymosa” was for the reaction. Because it’s so much fun to pick apart! Take it easy.

@@Ozzy_2014 exactly! It was written by Ben Moody. I’m so stoked for Bitter Truth! She’s improved so much. I’d seen them live, with tons of different line ups, but when I saw Synthesis, and her hitting the fifth note on “your star” it got me. And I love her with this band. They’re so solid.

Amy is one of the most unique and most recognizable vocalist out there! Love to hear her sing!!

I think this like the most vocally talented audience ever.

Amy Lee has one of those voices that once you hear it, you are totally hooked. Hauntingly beautiful, full of emotion, great range in her ability to go from a mere whisper to a belting strong burst.

Holy crap i was at that concert. My long time ex-g/f wanted to go so i took her and I was shocked when Amy started singing and became a fan. We were all the way in the middle somewhere.

@@katekinder Ben wrote the words from a fictional story. He stated himself back then that it's fiction about the the ghost of a loved one haunting someone. He and Amy co-wrote it when they were 15/16, with Amy fleshing it out on piano and adding the bridge. Amy said since early on that she doesn't really like the song (and especially doesn't like the demo she recorded that the label forced them to put in Fallen), but she's also said that over the years she sees it as a part of the history with the fans and enjoys the fans' sing alongs at shows

3:52 the way she turns to back stage and mouths an expression in response to the roar of the crowd. Can you imagine the sheer power of 1000 people's emotions all connecting on your circuit all at once. That must be both the dream and the pinnacle of demand on a professional singer. To not only deliver a performance, but also (outside of classical maybe) to also be a conduit for the crowds emotions and feedback. I think her express was "Fuc......!!" or "Wow....!!" and she was seeking support with the rest of the crew she comes with back stage.

I love this song and Amy’s incredible mix of her vocal power and vulnerability. Hauntingly beautiful song.

@@beegeezee505 Amy does go from feathery soft to showing of her major set of lungs. I love it because I can always hear the harp playing instead of the piano. Amy wrote it for the harp. You can hear in clearing in parts she plays on the piano. They were I guess you could say harp parts. Amy said the band played faster and faster. She could do it on the harp anymore so she used the piano. I'd love to hear the harp version of it. For those that don't know. Yes Amy plays the harp.

I still wanna see your reaction to Going under by Evenescence.

And thank you to the sound engineer who was able to keep Amy's voice at a constant level while bringing in an entire electric band.

I love every time I hear people react to this version of My Immortal. I still get chills myself even having listened to this song hundreds of times due to the way she manipulates her voice to give you that feeling of whatever emotion she is looking to portray. I am so glad you finally did this one!

Your facial expressions and facial scrunches in moments of enjoyment when watching /hearing these videos is so cute, really makes the video a delight to watch among many other details.

I got to see evanescence in concert back in September of 2022. I got a general admission pit ticket so i was leaning on the barricade front row. For her last song, the stage crew wheeled out her piano she sat down with a smile and said "yall sing this with me one more time for old time's sake. Same as this video on the first note, we already knew. Singing along to my immortal with amy lee no band just our voices and the piano. I will never forget that moment ❤

Amy has sung me through the worst moments of my life. Her voice is cathartic and soothing.

Call Me When You're Sober is my favorite Evanescence song by far, just pure emotion from Amy!

Amy's voice is like a bowed string instrument where each note is a continuation from the last without a break in between. The smoothness of a long bow stroke. Great legato!

I really can't think of a more charming woman than Elizabeth. Her love for what she does makes her even more adorable!

I love this song. It always brings tears to my eyes. Her pitch and intonation is perfect. The thing I love about this channel is watching how much you enjoy these songs too. It's like you need to pause the video to catch your breath and that's how I feel when I hear perfect music. Its deeper than sound. It's a primal organic feeling. Stirring emotions within. Your video on wardruna and Aurora also has this effect. I came across them about a year ago seeing a video of them performing outside a cave in Norway I think. Truly wonderful and mesmerising. Thank you for this channel

Please, Evanescence "End of the Dream" or "Lacrymosa" but the Synthesis live dvd version.

End of The Dream is special on Synthesis. Amy goes from driving 5 MPH to 200 by the end. She really gets her foot in it. The whole sound just explodes at the end. What's amazing is not the song version. It's just so different from the studio version. It's 2 totally different songs.

Thank God someone else recommended exactly this. I actually am hoping so much that she does Lacrymosa then End of the Dream back to back since it flows so well on the Synthesis album. Personally, the best two compositions for me from Evanescence and I can never get enough.

One of the most underrated songs by Amy Lee is "Hello", in my opinion another beautiful example of her vocal range.

Her voice is so beautiful. She has the ability to make you weep.

This has always been an emotional song for me. The words express a lot about how I feel after my mother’s suicide when I was 17.

Elizabeth, thanks for doing this. There are lots of other Amy songs to work your way through. Oh, you missed this bit, when she hears the response from the audience after handing over to them, and looks back at the band, as if to say "Wow! Do you hear that? Is it real?". Yes Amy, it's real. This version is special, such an empowering person.

A natural gifted haunting vocal,Amy lee is just amazing.

Full body goosebumps anyone else? From the song itself and the audience participating and well, I do have fond memories with this song from almost 20 years ago.

Lzzy Hale is awesome. I'm pretty sure she doesn't need a microphone when singing, she gets loud.

Amy Lee is wonderful, i always loved her music and personality. She s one of the ones i ll never forget under no circumstances.

Amy is such an incredible singer. Would love to hear your analysis of "Hello" as well.

That was about her little sister that passed away. She never sing it live.. but still want to see the reaction and analysis though 👌

I've seen Amy live in concert twice and she is truly amazing. I love her voice.

The entire album called Synthesis is amazing. It’s her and the band (what’s left of it) playing live with a full orchestra and it is unreal! Check it out!!

She has sick a lovely, ethereal voice. I always loved this song, and especially this version of it that has that moment of intensity there at the end. Thanks for doing this one
