She’s actually the one who died (notice she has bandages on her wrists, her feet never touch the ground, kids don’t see her on the playground etc...) and it’s her ghost walking around as a tormented soul. It’s her own personal hell for taking her own life (probably because of the break up). As long as he’s tormented by memories of her, she’ll always be there lingering as a prisoner of pain.

@@darrenweston1618 Yes, yes about Moody's grandfather (not grandmother) as far as the song being written. Moody's own words were "Lyrically about a spirit staying with you after its death and haunting you until you actually wish that the spirit were gone because it won't leave you alone." The video, however per David Mould (Director) purposely made Amy the ghost. :)

This song means so much to me. It’s my mother’s favorite song. She’s not dead but she is lost. My mother started using herion after I turned 18. She struggled with opioids most of my childhood but once she started herion she completely left us and is now homeless. We try to help her but she doesn’t want it. Now the chorus resonates so differently to me. It’s like it’s my mom singing it to me. She used to wipe my tears, fight my fears and hold my hand. But now I’m the one holding on. I don’t wanna let go of the mother I once knew and I want her back. Anyway it’s a beautiful song and you two have such a wonderful energy that even though I’m crying I’m also smiling. ❤️

This song was mostly written by ex-cofounder Ben Moody (guy on the piano), and Amy (singer) wrote the bridge. The song was mostly his and about his grandfather. This song is almost 20 years old now and came out when I was in my early 20's. It's a song that defiantly hits harder today. Back then, to me it was just a great song by an awesome singer, now it's a powerful emotional song. I can now relate to the lyrics, but not just towards a specific loss or relationship with someone, but towards my memories, my moments, and my mind. The older we get, the more the memories hurt, not just the sad and/or bad ones, like losing a loved ones, as I have lost both my parents over the last twelve years, but the good ones also, like having a wonderful childhood, first getting marriage, your children's births and them being young, these memories of life, moments of time, will never be as great as it once was, as certain moments that will never be experienced again like they were when we lived them. My memories, both happy and sad, are slowly killing me as I can't let go and depend on them so much.

In the song she is a representation of her sisters spirit as it never touches the ground. She lost her sister when she was younger and never completely recovered. She’s always felt her presence and is always in her thoughts. This was her tribute to her and perhaps a way of closure.

I didn’t! I remember loving this song when it came out way too long ago when i was...”cool” and young.... now I’m “old” (I’m 30 in a couple weeks. and my 8-year-old son calls that old Imao) and lame..... but this has always been one of those songs I’ll always like and remember. It was super awesome to see someone react to this after all these years! ***If you guys take reaction requests, I have a song that I’ve been incessantly commenting to people for SO LONG and nobody has done it. It’s a completely different genre, but still amazing. Awesome beats. It’s got a crazy story and 3 beat changes throughout the whole song that change with the intensity of the lyrics. I’ll just leave it at the bottom of this comment in hopes you both may react to it😊). Murs - Walk Like a Man

Having binned off loads of my subscriptions because they were negative or I didn't bother watching them, you guys are one of the few. I've only been a subscriber for a couple of days, Bill Burr got me here. Thank you Bill/KZread algorithm because you guys make my heart sing and give me hope for 2021. You are such a wonderful, positive couple, thank you. We need more positivity. I'd suggest you guys look at Micky Flanagan for comedy, he is from where my family are and he embodies the ruthlessness of them. As far as songs go, Bon Jovi Mtv Awards 1989 Living on a Prayer/Wanted Dead or Alive is where MTV Unplugged was born and then Pearl Jam - Black Unplugged for the pinnacle in my opinion. Such power and emotion. Thank you guys for making me smile and feel that all is not lost before we hit 2021. Be excellent to each other.
