It doesn’t matter if it’s the 1st or the 80th time I’ve watched this, it always leaves me in tears. Not taking care of our soldiers is one of the most outrageous and unacceptable things that goes on in this country. Thank you to everyone who has served and everyone who has sacrificed along with them ♥️

Carrie Huffman same with me. I may not agree with a lot of the decisions made in the government, but that doesn’t change the fact that people literally risk their lives for us and get treated like shit. Plus, there are church leaders who don’t have to pay taxes and live in multi-million dollar mansions when all that money could be going to the people who deserve it.

Chelsea Westfall honestly that’s the one thing I have always said I would do if I ever have the money or influence to make it happen. But buy land and build relatively self sustaining homes to make a community for homeless vets. Because I’ve talked to many and what I’ve heard most is a wish to be among those who understand and to have a place they can live with a roof over their heads. Unfortunately I’m not wealthy and don’t have enough influence to start moving towards that goal. But that’s still my end goal. That’s what we need to do. These men and women are fighting for us they deserve a life once they get home. Because with out them the life that we know wouldn’t exist and it’s simple as that. We truly owe them for the things we take for granted daily and I’m just as guilty of that as anyone. But it’s long past over due that we owe our veterans a better life then what many get to have. I’ve always felt that they deserve that much at the very least.

Serving doesn't guarantee you to be propped up by society for life. If you don't stay in for life and retire with a pension, your ass needs to get to work. Military gives you all the tools to hold a job down. I have 0 sympathy.

I’m a Marine Corps Veteran. And this gets me to tears every single time. There is a glimmer of hope in some areas for Veterans. In the last few years I’ve seen the VA Administration add new regulations that furthers the care and help for veterans. It’s not a huge change, but definitely better than the last decade. We now can outsource to local doctors for care thru the VA. They’ve added more benefits, and those organizations you see in the list have greatly increased help for Veterans. It’s still a bunch of red tape sometimes, but, the last I’ve read in a newsletter from the VA, they’ve received better funding now, as to why the benefits and help has increased. Still a long way to go. No Veteran, NO VETERAN, should be without help when they’re in need. And yes, we do have that brotherhood bind. We are Marine, Sailor, Airman, and Soldier. We are brothers and sisters. Thank you for this reaction. Much love 🙏❤️🔥

82nd Airborne combat vet (Desert Storm) I would like to say THANK YOU for keeping the message going. I've lost more brother and sisters by their own hands than we lost in combat. Was homeless myself for a couple of years after getting out. Luckily family refused to let me be on the streets. Got some help from the V.A. Never equaled all I had to kill to get it. Just glad to see the message keeps getting out there. To my brother and sisters in arms. There is help out there. Never feel ashamed to ask for it. It takes time, but it does get better.

When I see this video I say to myself, "There but for the grace of God go I." I returned from Iraq using a set of wheels instead of my legs. My spirit was broken as much as my body. Thankfully, I had a strong support system, people who would fight with me and for me. Today, several years later, I still have bad days. But, I have more good days.

The line “I’m no hero and I’m not made of stone” always brings me back to my deployment and after I got back. We are expected to just put on our boots and continue with our lives as if nothing happened. Mental health is such a big problem in the military, we have the resources but get looked down upon by our peers or supervisors for going and getting help. I was so terrified to get out because of the homeless statistics of veterans and the percentage of jobs that will hire military. They tend to get looked at as crazy or damaged. This song is so amazing at pointing out the struggles of military life and life after military

Your gratitude and that sweet little girl on the bike, are 3 of a billion reasons why we do what we do. I've posted this on other reactions to this video, but here it goes again... It's worth saying I tried hard, I Was in Afghanistan in 09. Lost a buddy there, I got home, went to school, became a medical professional. I thought that I could help myself by helping others. I descended into madness, lying to myself. I eventually lost my job and my apartment, nearly lost my life to my own hand. I was on a waiting list for the VA for months until the police got involved because I tried to kill myself. I can no longer work and am fully disabled, even though I look fine on the outside. Counselling and medication keeps me functional, but just barely. There are not enough resources out there to help all the vets that need it and I know there are guys and girls much worse off than me. And we are also part of the problem, because someone who is a warrior, who is willing to die for others and sees themselves as a protector feels weak and powerless when asking for help. It takes more strength than we ever showed in battle to admit that we can't beat something, when all our lives we've been beating the odds, overcoming impossible obstacles, doing things that normal people would never attempt. But even we can't fight the demons in our head alone. Nobody can.

My local psychiatrist helps veterans out regularly. I know this because there are a couple of them I talk to for a little while every few months when our appointments overlap. They are amazing men and they will open up about their memories to me and to Dr. B... that says a lot. As a man who lives with mental illnesses, I know teaching yourself to open up is not easy. I can only try to imagine opening up about some of the things they talk about... it would be hard. If not almost impossible for me.

Five Finger Death Punch is heavy into helping veterans this is one of the reasons why I respect the band. Anybody that has seen war also battles afterwards my grandparents did and they were part of the Dutch resistance against the Nazi government that was taking over the Netherlands. I respect all veterans and wish our government would do more for them.

I want to thank you for doing this. I think I can speak for all us Vets when I say thank you. I myself had a friend who I served in iraq with who ended up on the streets. I found out that he was homeless by him coming up to my car a few years ago and offered to wash my windshield for a dollar. I told him to get in the car and I took him to my place got him cleaned up and fed and helped him get a job at my company. It's very sad that we break our backs, bleed and die for our country to get out of the military and be treated like shit. This song makes me cry everytime I hear it. Thank you the both of you.

Thank you guys. I was a homeless disabled vet. I say was because I was one of the few that got off the streets and found housing. But the problem is much worse than they said in the video. Yes, all those facts are correct, but here is the real problem, they have seen so much horror in war that they have gone to using drugs and alcohol to "forget" or to deal with the horror. It's a daily battle for some. VA hospitals don't have the resources to mentally help those that suffer from ptsd, and then you have those that believe that no one cares about them anymore and have written them off. I'm talking friends, family members who aren't accustomed to dealing with trauma; so the vets give up on themselves. And finally, the veterans don't know about half of those private charitable organizations that help vets. There is a lot that can be done for these vets.
