The male vocalist is from the band 12 Stones, they had a few good songs back in the day. I haven't listened to them in forever, I don't even know if they're still together. Evanescence has always been one of my favorites and Amy one of my favorite female vocalists.

Listen to her sing breathe no more. It wasn't on any album it was like on a sample she did before she was famous but it's out there now and it's so so so haunting. Written about the moment she learned her little sister was dead. It's so raw

This song. Oh the memories. I was in a terrible, unfulfilling relationship back in 2002. But there was this guy that came into my work ( I was a bartender) he noticed the fingerprint bruises on my arms continuously. He always spoke to me with so much respect and tenderness...and man, was he funny! He made me laugh until my stomach hurt. When he was around I would get that feeling in my chest and my stomach, you know the butterflies and the pounding heart. He eventually gave me the courage to get out of the abusive relationship that I was in. We would play this song over and over again. It was our song and it still is our song, it always will be. He and I did not work out, but I will always be grateful for him rescuing me. And he will always be the one that got away :-)

Check out their song, "Hello". It's a really haunting song about the death of her 3 year old sister, and not understanding or accepting her loss for a while. It's the only song that they have never played live because it is still too personal for her to sing it.

This is an awesome. Song. This was there first number 1 hit song that got them put on the map. I too sing this song and it is somewhat difficult because she can sing some high notes in other songs... Evanescence rocks guys.

Amy Lee wrote the song about Josh Hartzler, the man who would become her husband. When she met Hartzler, he was a friend of a friend: a total stranger who did not know her. Yet he could somehow "see inside her" and "bring her to life." "I was in a really bad place, relationally, and going through a really hard time," Lee said in her Songfacts interview. "He sat across from me when we went to reserve a table and he just looked me dead in the eye and said, 'Are you happy?' And it shocked my heart and I looked down and just started making up excuses. I choked on my words because I felt like I was completely outwardly acting normal, but inside in a lot of turmoil. And I felt like he could just see straight into my soul. That inspired the whole song. Years later I told him it was about him." It was a few years before Lee and Hartzler started dating. From 2003-2005 she had a high-profile relationship with Seether frontman Shaun Morgan, so many fans assumed the song was about him. Lee didn't say who it was about until later.
