Awesome video, thanks! I'm just moving to a very large new apartment building (with about 400 units and 45 floors). They've installed just two 11Kw chargers in the residential space with billing via Exploren. There are a few power points around the basement like yours for cleaners etc, but none adjacent to my car space. I think I could run an extension lead from a nearby one but of course that is not really a regular option as everyone would be paying for my use, although some other Teslas are doing just that atm. It's good that at least there are a couple of chargers, but two is not going to cut it as more and more residents get EVS, particularly as they are not fast chargers. I really wish the NSW State Government would legislate that all new buildings have to provide for at least a 15 amp power point, or the potential for a low-cost install of one at the resident's cost, for each car space. If they did this then the builders/developers would need to at least provide the metering capability and a main electrical 'spine' on each car park basement level.

Great video. Thanks for sharing, mate. Cutting down the bureaucracy involved could be one effective way state and federal governments could get involved, eg by making it harder for body corporates/owners' corps to prevent such installs (eg a 'reverse onus' standard), provided installed to standard etc. Saw another ABC video on YT which claimed one apartment body corporate spent $200k to facilitate chargers to their basement; perhaps in that case, no existing power outlet existed (though, that would seem unusual in most apartment contexts, one would think). In any event, that story said buildings standards for new apartments built require electrics for EV charging from this year.

Wonderful video! I’m having these days many heated discussions about the approval to install a Tesla Wall Connector 11kw on my underground spot in Europe Czech Republic. I’m facing the same level of difficulty as you did. Thanks for the video

TLDR: It took 8 months, over $5,000 and hundreds of emails to get the building to approve a charger put in his garage spot. I don't think I'd have the patience or motivation for this. Damn.

Remember that to a foreign audience, an apartment means you rent from a big landlord that owns the whole building. I'd suggest putting the word condo somewhere here.

@M Rama What you just described is called a condo or condominium elsewhere. Australia misused the word apartment to describe a high rise block for owner occupiers. That word is meant to mean a building with a single owner which you rent 'a part' of, like an upmarket tenement.
