Who cares about seeing all the information about a photo? It is NOT "practical" if all you want to do is actually scroll through the images and don't care about the technical details. Cover Flow was amazing... this isn't.

TLDR: It took 8 months, over $5,000 and hundreds of emails to get the building to approve a charger put in his garage spot. I don't think I'd have the patience or motivation for this. Damn.

Good job buddy. I am thinking to use IKEA FJALLBO as my tv unit, my query to you is whether it’s a good unit in terms of vibrations as sub woofer is sitting very close? I am planning to keep a 12 inch sub.

Great video. Thanks for sharing, mate. Cutting down the bureaucracy involved could be one effective way state and federal governments could get involved, eg by making it harder for body corporates/owners' corps to prevent such installs (eg a 'reverse onus' standard), provided installed to standard etc. Saw another ABC video on YT which claimed one apartment body corporate spent $200k to facilitate chargers to their basement; perhaps in that case, no existing power outlet existed (though, that would seem unusual in most apartment contexts, one would think). In any event, that story said buildings standards for new apartments built require electrics for EV charging from this year.

Hi, I'm can't access the LifeX switch from the HomeKit app. My HomePod, phone and all other devices are running on 5ghz wifi but I note the LifeX switch uses 2.4ghz. Do I need to switch the HomePod, phone and other devices to 2.4ghz as well to allow them all to work together?

I have a 2006 Mac Mini as well & I play Diablo 2 on it & play music from my CDs. However, I have never seen any video that shows you how to transfer everything from the original hard drive to the new ssd. I want to put a new drive in because every time the game cycles it sounds like a washing machine.

Excellent review! I've been searching for a review like this for months and still considering a 4k monitor 27 or 32 inches until I find this review. Thank you so much for the review. Your ppi analysis and comparison is what I needed. Now I have a lot of confidence to purchase a 32-inch monitor without worrying about letters and contents appearing too small or too big on the screen.

You should label all the cables before disconnecting them or you will have to trace them back to see what they went to when you hook them back up.

Great video and informative dude. 3 years on...Are you still using it? We are so slow here in Australia with your internet, its been like this for the last 15 years or so. Your 300+mb speed test over wifi was nuts... Im paying $50 a month with Vodafone 5G Home Broadband and its only a 50mb plan. An extra $10 or so for max 100mb 5G plan (expensive)

I’m currently going through exactly your process. I started discussions with Body Corporation BC one year ago. They were horrified and said not willing to do anything but if an individual wanted to pay for installation and usage that would be ok. So I bought a Tesla and applied for a 15amp power point. I didn’t want to scare them with the words car charger as they might have a heart attack. I consulted the building electrician who suggested running it from the main board in the basement with it’s own meter. I offered to monitor the meter and make the payments and they could check the figures whenever they wanted. Their answer was that before they could consider the application I would have to pay for an audit of the whole building’s electrical infrastructure! 90 units in the 23 story building. Cost over $3000. The quote for the power point was already $2200. I refused, they said go away. I said see you at the Bccm conciliation and arbitration commission. This happened in January and they agreed to pay for the audit but I had to connect my ppt to my apartment meter. Unfortunately that’s on the 18th floor and would be crazy expensive. So currently negotiating a compromise and looking for alternatives. I will get there. I can see that the beauty of an electric car is being able to come home and plug in just like your mobile phone. Congratulations on your outcome. Great video.

Thanks for the second video. Covers some great stuff. Hrmm. I think I’m sticking with Alexa control. Alexa literally manages EVERY smart home device 1000x better than ecosystem specific devices like this. I’m an apple power user, and HomeKit is janky. Connect ALL of your various smart home devices from different brands to the cloud. Sign into those devices with Alexa app. It will find all the individual devices from individual ecosystems. Don’t waste a minute making groups and scenes within the brand specific apps… just give them a name that makes sense. Ie kitchen 1,2,3,4 etc. And then setup your scenes, routines, groups etc with Alexa. This gives you ultimate flexibility and flawlessly brings together different ecosystems. When I do anything smart home, it’s controlling, lights, fans, tv, and music with one command. I have 2 x 4 gang LIFX switches, unsure if the older ones are HomeKit compatible. I am an electrician but I’ve never been motivated to install them as I have some complex 2 way switching. Sensor lights, and hard wired patio lights that have dimmers. Perhaps these would be best in simple switch locations like bedrooms. Even then. I haven’t touched a physical light switch in over a year.

Far out. I have 90 Wi-Fi devices in my house. I have an Alexa in each and every room. “Alexa lights on”. Is all that’s required to be said. - as long as you group that Alexa device to each room. Having to redo all my lights seems like a nightmare. I have ALOT of LIFX lights and they have been bullet proof for the last few years. (Earlier on had a lot of connectivity issues). The reproduction of colour and speed is still unmatched. LIGHT DJ PRO is an INCREDIBLE app if you want to party with your LIFX lights. Don’t know why it took me 3 years to find this app. I’m coming up to selling my house soon. And like the idea of selling it as a working smart home, but this has complications associated with cloud account based light control. Would have to create a house specific email, and basically set the entire thing up from scratch. Considering I have some pretty massive and complex routines for dinner time, bed time, reading time with the kids etc etc etc etc. this is days worth of work. Perhaps. ONCE setup. These switches simplify my setup should I hand it over in a house sale. They do however carry massive problems around dual switched lights (not capable), and dumb lights that are dimmable (not capable). So it’s very likely you would need to have a normal switch beside it for dimmed dumb lights and dual switched circuits. I’m a big fan of LIFX. But I’m not sure if I can commit to these. Also. Forget the LIFX app for control. Use ALEXA groups and smart home control and routines for everything. Makes life 10000000000x easier. And WAY more flexible. Essentially doesn’t matter what group anything is in LIFX.
