Additional tests have been done to ensure that the XC40 Recharge variant shares the 2018 rating of the Volvo XC40, watch the updated video • Euro NCAP Crash & Safe...
Euro NCAP performs a series of crash tests on each model tested:
- a frontal impact test, the car impacts a rigid barrier
- an offset frontal impact test, 40% of the width of the car is striking a deformable barrier
- a pole test, the tested car is propelled sideways into a rigid pole
- a side impact test, a mobile deformable barrier impacts the driver's door
A series of pedestrian tests are conducted with different impactors, adult and child head form, lower and upper leg form and whiplash tests are performed on a sled.
Active safety is tested based on the car’s equipment: autonomous emergency braking systems (car to car, with a pedestrian and a cyclist target), lane support and speed assist technologies and seatbelt reminders.

Volvo was first to introduce seatbelts that we all know and (the more responsible of us) use today. This is definitely better that one pretty bad (probably) american design, you can google how bad it was

The day I see a Volvo that doesn't get a 5 star rating is the day I'll be truly convinced that the human society has collapsed.
It's amazing to see that the cabin looks almost undamaged. Just open the door and walk away.

Their idea is that in 98% of crashes people will simply walk away with nothing but a scare. If you pay attention and follow road safety rules, you will not be in danger.

@@maxshreck8353 The only other thing you might get is a bruise from the airbags, but that's way better than the alternative. The bruise will heal after a week.

@@maxshreck8353 that is not true, the most heavy crashes are caused by other traffic members. And not all newer cars still look that good after a crash, especially for the cabin. I am a firefighter and I know what I am talking about. I have seen that much cars.... You would not believe how bad they are lookin. Even the new Mercedes Benz C class after a 60 kmh crash against a tree.... We have to cut out the driver almost 1 hour.

Mohit Bhoge Hmm.. Mercedes was the first manufacturer inventing the crumple zone in the 50s. Volvo added 3-point seatbelts which are simple to use (I think race cars had them before, but the usage was too complex for the consumer market). anyway, impressive performing car

I have an XC40. Well...idk.... sometimes the vehicle overact. Moves itself alone.....or does not show like it will stop when in front of me I have a car already stoped for example in a red light but I will trust in them bcause I love Volvo and my XC40

You aren't supposed to rely on the automatic brake assist to come to a stop. It's only for emergencies

Failed? Why ? Do you have the test results and compared them to any other car? Slam a Citroën to that pole and the pole comes out the other side of the car. With your brain glued to it.

Very impressed with the automated systems - one a very few that passed ALL tests. An amazing statistic..... no one has ever been killed in a Volvo XC90 (any generation). Pretty sure Volvo’s claim of NO ONE will be killed in any of their vehicles by 2020 will be true.

@@ducdave it is also made in china, but those made in china are only for the Asian market... but they do have a Chinese manufacturing plant... however the car and every system in it is designed by swedes... the Chinese holding company basically said here is money make what you want and make us profit
