Euro NCAP Crash & Safety Tests of Kia Sportage 2022
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
The Kia Sportage shares a common platform with the Hyundai Tucson, tested in 2021. Where necessary, Euro NCAP has carried out tests on the Sportage but, for others, the results of the Tucson are used.
Euro NCAP performs a series of crash and safety tests on car models:
- a frontal impact test, 50% of the width of the car is striking an oncoming deformable barrier, also travelling at 50 km/h
- a frontal impact test, the car impacts a rigid full width barrier
- a side impact test, a mobile deformable barrier impacts the driver's door
- a pole test, the tested car is propelled sideways into a rigid pole.
A series of pedestrian tests are conducted with different impactors, adult and child head form, lower and upper leg form and whiplash tests are performed on a sled as well as AEB pedestrian and cyclist tests.
Active safety is tested based on the car’s equipment: autonomous emergency braking car-to-car scenarios, occupant status monitoring (including seatbelt reminders), lane support and speed assistance technologies.

Good results but this Kia and Hyundai are the only cars I've seen that pieces of interior trim fly off, you don't want them going into your face or other places in the case of a crash.

Kia, but they use the tucson for some parts because they are sister companies and cars. Sportage and Tuscon are build on the same platform, same tech, engines and safety features. Like a VW Tiguan and Seat Ateca. Or Peugeot 208 and Opel Corsa
How can you use a different model for tests? There are full sportage tests for us 2023. Only the SXP and xlines have top Aretha ratings due to all the extra safety features. The others have lower scores.
Crisis unfolded: only few cars to crash tests, the information is "transferred" from simblings. 🙄
What configuration was on this car? PHEV, HEV, ICE? There is a 350kilograms difference between them
Believe me, no anti crash system saves a tiny spine from that force, if not death, you won't escape permanent disability in a serius car accident.
Es el mismo full equipo que venden en Latinoamérica?

the tuscon and sportage share the same platform and some safety features, so some results will be based off of those of the tuscon.

Compared to the BMW i4 this looks like a chewing gum in the pole test but received 5 vs. 4 stars? EuroNCAP tests are becoming more erratic…

The rating is higher based on what trauma the occupants have not the car. If the car is intact but the occupants dead there is no use... just buy old lada if you think that way.

@@andreimihailescu6805 If a tree is going through your head you can’t really speak about an advantage. EuroNCAP is interpreting ONLY the results in ONE specific scenario: The test does not reflect or extrapolate to higher crash speeds. Be ensured that at +10km/h crash speed the results would be totally different. Maybe you have a more “comfortable” crash at 40km/h, but will be dead at 50km/h… And no: A Lada has absolutely no rigid structure. It will totally collapse in such tests.

@@ytuberization lol, care to explain a little further how NCAP doesn't know how to test cars? You do know the i4 got 4 stars mainly because BMW suck at including safety equipment as standard as they like to have it as (very) expensive extras. Granted, all carmakers want you to pay for the safety equipment but some make it available in the most basic trims which is always what NCAP tests - the basic trim. And it is evident that the koreans are pretty good at including proper electronic safety tech even in basic trims. And yes, it is embarrasing that a Hyundai Tucson has more and/or better electronic safety measures in it than a basic trim BMW i4 in its basic trim, but it is the reality of today. Asian cars are becoming better at a rate that should have european manufactorers upset. People like to talk about hardware I guess, but in the field of software, wouldn't surprise me one bit of the koreans match or exceed the germans in that regard. As for the crash test itself, no you cannot eyeball it and make any conclusions on that. No serious engineer works that way. NCAP do consider all the things you accuse them of not considering, appearantly because you didn't like the result the i4 got. Tell you what, putting on show BMWs two recent "duds" is a good thing, not a bad one. It is what is going to force BMW to accept becoming the new Peugeot in safety - that is, one that slanders behind - or improving upon it to the level that it matches its competitors.
This test doesn't make any sense to me. Why are you using 2 different cars???

How on earth this thing got 5 stars, when side pole test bendt whole thing!? Also, why this test is based on Hyundai model, but mercedes van you tested mercedes, not based on Reanult?
@emilsohn1671
Жыл бұрын
It gets 5 stars because NCAP assess how well the driver is protected, not how the impact absorbtion zones look. I am by no means an expert, just a layman, but sometimes crumbling of specific parts can even be intentional to absorb the energy and direct it away from the passengers. Doesn't matter of the car looks like shit as long as it directs the energy of impact away from the poor sod's spine. NCAP use sensors to meassure damage done to the dolls. They also look at the hull to make inferences about the cars performance real life.

@@emilsohn1671 Every time I write this under EuroNCAP test, someone writes this text back. Have you noticed, this test speed is 32 km/h? If it looks very bad at this low speed, then at 64 km/h same crash, this thing splits into two halves and all will be dead. EuroNCAP problem is, they turned into woke and do not test real safety anymore. All electronic gizmos are more important now, than real security.
@Aaronduhmoron

@@SiiliViin I agree with you but maybe a pole impact at 60km/h is less realistic because of it being just a pole. I think a vehicle going that fast is more likely. The mobile barrier impact at 60km/h right before it which seems more realistic.

It's intentional and it's part of the crash structure. If you don't watch Formula 1, new formulas are extremely safe but they dramatically dissolve into pieces during a crash on purpose to spread the g forces and protect the human as much as possible. It might look scary and bad, but it's intentional and it's gonna make you safer
