    I am trying to use Onsong, with great difficulty I might add. I have tried their tutorial videos, but have found they sometimes skip steps, expecting you to know what your doing, or where they say to go to the next step does not appear, or goes elsewhere. I tried to contact Onsong for help, to no avail. I was advised they don't have phone support. Using Onsong has been rather frustrating, to say the least. I am still looking elsewhere for assistance. It would be nice if they would produce a WRITTEN manual, with all the steps! Not everyone is a computer expert.

    Just bought the ONSong and loaded it onto my new iPad. I found OnSong not friendly to first timers. I watched several of their videos, then found yours. I felt more comfortable listening to your video. Thanks.

    We've been using Onsong for years now and while we were reluctant to do so at the time we've never looked back. Gone are the paper copies, gone are numerous keys being written on one sheet. It's excellent, you can even control other band members ipad with yours if you want to scroll or change songs 👍

    I am a four year user of this app and I cannot count the number of musicians that come and say what is this app? It seems everybody wants a free app. This thing has paid for itself time and time again. At one gig fella said do you know I'll fly away from Oh brother where art thou? It was in my book and he tipped me a cool fifty....That paid for app! Nice job on a great deal of info. I did not use capo feature and now I probably will

    Howdy, I'm charged with coming up with better organization for our worship team. Presently we are doing all our music on paper ( which also means we often run to a copier when we change keys) and so we want to get away from the copier. One issue at hand: we use ProPresenter for the room A/V, and Renewed Vision doesn't appear to have a music related app. OnSong looks great for the music, but I don't that they have a message app like Planning Center. So I'm concerned that we'll have ProPresenter ( this is probably cast in stone), OnSong for the music, and Planning for our group communications. Do you have experience with multiple apps and possible pitfalls? Thanks

    We use OnSong and I find it invaluable. Also frustrating. It’s powerful and flexible but not necessarily intuitive. Like any database app, you’d be crazy not to make sure to back up your data, and do it often. That having been said, I use it with an iPad and an AirTurn Duo bluetooth pedal. I used to play a 4 hour gig from memory years ago - how I did that I’ll never know; these days, I do a 5 song worship set and would be lost without the chords and lyrics in front of me. Some of the musicians in the band prefer paper charts and music stands - I find OnSong and an iPad to be cleaner and less distracting - no paper to go fluttering to the floor with any slight breeze, no big, clumsy stands and manual page turning, but to each their own.

    Helpful review, thanks. I've been looking at OnSong, Songbook Pro, and BandHelper. I'm mostly a single acoustic/singer performer, occasionally work with others. I'm leaning towards OnSong. Once you have your songs in the app, then for a gig, you do not have to be connected to wireless/internet, correct? It is self-contained at that point?

  • @mrawesomesause1

    Yes, I’m fairly certain you don’t need to be connected to the internet to access the songs once they’re imported onto the app

    @@mrawesomesause1 confirmed. I’m on a 30 day trial and this is working well for me. I use my iPad to run my sound using Mixing Station software, a Midas MR18 mixer, and a linksys router (instead of the router that’s built into the MR18) for my wireless connection. That wireless connection is just local to run the mixer from my iPad, no internet access. I can run mixing station to run my sound on the MR18 from my iPad and also run OneSong with full capabilities for my set list on my iPad at the same time. Looking like a very good solution so far. Downloading personal tabs from Ultimate Guitar has been easy and transferred easily and accurately into OnSong.

    Sadly, yes. In fact, I bought an iPad almost exclusively for this app. I honestly haven't tried any of the Android alternatives, but some do exist. I can't speak to their functionality and/or reliability however.

    I just heard about this app today. Not sure if I can figure it all out at soon to be 62. I have so much music in a binder. I have all my music saved as pdf files. Can you bring in pdf files to this app? Will they scroll down at a speed you set? And does this app only work on wifi?

  • @academyofworship

    @academyofworship

    Hi Shelly! I have confidence that anyone can learn the basics of OnSong, even at 62 years young! Yes, you can import PDF files easily. The easiest way would be to put them on Google Drive, Dropbox, or something like that. Then from inside the OnSong app you'd log into whichever cloud storage provider you chose, and simply import them. You can set the speed at which it scrolls as well. And lastly, the app will work without any internet connection at all! However, you'll need some sort of internet access to import files, etc. But once you have them imported, they're on your iPad until deleted. I hope this helps and God bless you!

    Great question! It's NOT exclusive to Christian songs; you can put anything you want in the software. I do it all the time. You can separate songs into "books" as well to further organize your music. Hope that helps!

    Most certainly. I use OnSong for just about everything. I can create and or import chord charts, lead sheets, PDF's. Except music that has a road map that contains multiple pages that have repeats and coda marking that you need to follow. That's pretty rough to do.

    Absolutely correct! They are hard to follow. And the fact that they skip steps doesn’t help. Twice I followed the instructors directions step by step. Step A to B, B to C, only C is not what they say it is. Very irritating and totally wrong. I tried to contact someone, but was told they have to help number. Bad business! Not everyone is a computer whiz!
