Thank you so much for this video. But I’m still unclear on how to download songs. Can you put a video out on that?
Tell Albert Collins not to use a Capo. He AWAYS did.
because now it is subscription only I won't buy it.
New to this. Very helpful to help me start
Vsauce of guitars 💀

The normal and top boost channels can be made foot switchable with an 'A/B/Y' footswitch, eh?
Love the metronome feature you pointed out. But mine isn’t silent. Definitely need silent when performing.
so... i'm coming from the chordpro format used in another app. if i use chordpro file with onsong, can i use functionalities such as adding inline images and syill keep the chordpro format? i have about 700 songs...
This channel is underrated but glad I’ found it. I’ve learned a lot in 15mins than an hour long video from tps. Thanks man!
I know this is an old video, but I was wondering about this. Thinking about getting a Marshall Valvestate VS100, and I need the amp to perform worship services on Sundays, but also to do '70's through '90's rock in a local band. I had a feeling it would work.
Just bought the ONSong and loaded it onto my new iPad. I found OnSong not friendly to first timers. I watched several of their videos, then found yours. I felt more comfortable listening to your video. Thanks.
We use OnSong and I find it invaluable. Also frustrating. It’s powerful and flexible but not necessarily intuitive. Like any database app, you’d be crazy not to make sure to back up your data, and do it often. That having been said, I use it with an iPad and an AirTurn Duo bluetooth pedal. I used to play a 4 hour gig from memory years ago - how I did that I’ll never know; these days, I do a 5 song worship set and would be lost without the chords and lyrics in front of me. Some of the musicians in the band prefer paper charts and music stands - I find OnSong and an iPad to be cleaner and less distracting - no paper to go fluttering to the floor with any slight breeze, no big, clumsy stands and manual page turning, but to each their own.
Hey, Thank you for making this series. Quick, Inclusive but not overly technical. 👍
Shut up and play your bass😅
After 3 years i suddenly can’t search the internet voor chord files inside onsong, only straight from a website
Great video sir! 👍🏻
Even though yutube compression I could hear the sparkle left the open strings when the rubber clamp was put on. Don't let those millenials cheapen out our worship music. Seriously, a bunch of people who (won't learn modes, intervals, voice leading...) simple barre chords, notes on the neck, and want to call a chord "A" when it follows the open position 'A' chord shape in the CAGED method regardless of where it is on the neck. Why would we work with sound, and all its properties knowing that people have a synthesis of pitch. The ability to hear different notes as 'hot', or 'cool', go a head and put a capo on the second fret, create a 'B' chord, and call it "A"? They literally train people to hear pitch using the difference of 'C' and 'Bb'. If I play 'B', and call it 'A' on my little chart (devoid of time, tempo or not durration) with my crapo on the second fret, and I ascend above open position shapes bc I want to play in another position how do I then adjust to play in key? I have to transcribe up a whole step in my brain just to eek out a few notes in the second octave. 1. Capo ruins the shine of open strings (they're no longer open, they are now fretted). 2. Causes confusion on chord charts. Handing someone a chart that says 'G' but sounds Bb. 3. Obviscates soloing or any kind of melodic work above the first fret open position. 4. Causes a need for multiple charts in different key centers for instruments like piano and bass who aren't going to put a rubber clamp on their instrument. A caop by design causes a person to now juggle two key centers at the same time. Not a problem for a seasoned musician. Huge mega problem for sweet volunteer performers trying to give of their time and stand unfront of an audience where the primary goal is not to distract the audience in attendance for the purpose of focusing on not the music'
Iam an disabled army veteran one hand only after combat was a two handed player unfortunately lost my left note hand
Howdy, I'm charged with coming up with better organization for our worship team. Presently we are doing all our music on paper ( which also means we often run to a copier when we change keys) and so we want to get away from the copier. One issue at hand: we use ProPresenter for the room A/V, and Renewed Vision doesn't appear to have a music related app. OnSong looks great for the music, but I don't that they have a message app like Planning Center. So I'm concerned that we'll have ProPresenter ( this is probably cast in stone), OnSong for the music, and Planning for our group communications. Do you have experience with multiple apps and possible pitfalls? Thanks
Thank you (from 45+ yrs. worship minister)… very good 10,000’ view, you’ve encouraged me to take another stab at my Ableton Live software to supplant (at least) my non-existing keyboard player…
I associate capos with acoustic guitars and folk singers. Pretty lame looking on a electric. Just looks wrong.
What capo did you use in the video?
I am trying to use Onsong, with great difficulty I might add. I have tried their tutorial videos, but have found they sometimes skip steps, expecting you to know what your doing, or where they say to go to the next step does not appear, or goes elsewhere. I tried to contact Onsong for help, to no avail. I was advised they don't have phone support. Using Onsong has been rather frustrating, to say the least. I am still looking elsewhere for assistance. It would be nice if they would produce a WRITTEN manual, with all the steps! Not everyone is a computer expert.
5:10 can you tell me what song are you playing? I really love the sound
So can u play individual solos the same as you would if you didn't have a capo but you start with the capo as the nut but play it from there?and what about reading sheet music but then you have to change the key? 👍
Helpful review, thanks. I've been looking at OnSong, Songbook Pro, and BandHelper. I'm mostly a single acoustic/singer performer, occasionally work with others. I'm leaning towards OnSong. Once you have your songs in the app, then for a gig, you do not have to be connected to wireless/internet, correct? It is self-contained at that point?
Yes, I’m fairly certain you don’t need to be connected to the internet to access the songs once they’re imported onto the app
@@mrawesomesause1 confirmed. I’m on a 30 day trial and this is working well for me. I use my iPad to run my sound using Mixing Station software, a Midas MR18 mixer, and a linksys router (instead of the router that’s built into the MR18) for my wireless connection. That wireless connection is just local to run the mixer from my iPad, no internet access. I can run mixing station to run my sound on the MR18 from my iPad and also run OneSong with full capabilities for my set list on my iPad at the same time. Looking like a very good solution so far. Downloading personal tabs from Ultimate Guitar has been easy and transferred easily and accurately into OnSong.
thank you so much! you're very natural and easy to follow. I'm about to embark on utilizing OnSong.
How do you setup a foot pedal for scrolling? What make/model foot pedal to use?
I have been using iRig Blue Turn for years and am happy with it.
I only use it to fit the singer's vocal range. Tune your guitar to D standard, use a capo, and you can adjust to any singer. I've never personally used those highest notes on the fretboard, so having lower notes is more useful.
Thank you I am taking lessons play when I was a teenager, made a lot noice with my buddies bot now that I am 64 soon to retire want to play correctly, in time
Awesome brother!
Clearly Explanation Godbless you Brother 🙏
Hello from Bulgaria I am worship guitarist with same 2000 dsl50, what 1960A or 1960AV cabinet you use? Thanks!
I don't recall what cabinet I was using for this video. However I've used the 1960A with it, and it sounded great!
@@academyofworship Thanks, I had the 1960A buf was with T75 made in China and i sold it and bought 1960AV with English made speakers Marshall G12 Vinatage, and sound is perfect!
Bought Waverly 1:/16 for my D18… should I have bought 1:/21 ratio? …
Nah! It'll all work just fine!
I am a four year user of this app and I cannot count the number of musicians that come and say what is this app? It seems everybody wants a free app. This thing has paid for itself time and time again. At one gig fella said do you know I'll fly away from Oh brother where art thou? It was in my book and he tipped me a cool fifty....That paid for app! Nice job on a great deal of info. I did not use capo feature and now I probably will
That's awesome! It really IS a great app and useful in so many ways!
My English is bad but i understand all
New subscriber here.
Welcome!
Can I bend and have decent vibrato with capos? I play some melodic and raw old school death metal, and some guys like James Murphy, Brandon Ellis are know by vibratos and stuff and I "kinda" play like that also, I never used a capo and I don't want a need to have 2 or 3 guitars, so, can I have some decent bend feel with capos? Thanks.
Unfortunately bending strings with a capo is just asking for trouble. A little vibrato might be fine, but anything more and I'd fear pulling the string out of tune :(
@@academyofworship Thank you brother, I was feeling it, that's why never tried, maybe the Spider Capo can mitigate that but maybe not probably. I'm planing to have a 7 strings guitar so I can cover alot of ground with it and with a spider capo and a partial one I can use it as a "baritone" and use along my 6'ss
Awesome! Let us all know how it goes!
@@bastianmaoro8278 With the raised fret bolt on guitar neck you'll be able to bend without any problems' same as a regular guitar. I'm planning on releasing them to the public before the end of this year.
Nice guitar! Love it!
Thanks!
Beginners starting to learn where each note is on the fretboard MASSIVELY benefit from a capo. Slap it on, learn the notes to a song... Muscle memory kicks in, take Capo off and (theoretically) your brain should be tuned into what frets to use even on open strings. Edit: OBVIOUSLY learn to play the instrument but a capo can be used as a learning tool as well as what you mention.
Absolutely!
Great Video! Congratulations about it
Awesome video. I came here because my Telecaster was going sharp when I used a capo and I have the exact black you advised against. 😅 Thank you so much!
Awesome, glad it helped!
I have been using a G7th capo for a long time. So far it is the best I’ve found for electric. Pricey though so I take extra care not to lose it. It works using a ratchet system and a lever for quick release. I use a capo a lot on electric. I got over the judgement of the naysayers.
Awesome!
That's a really good amp. I have two TSL60s and this one is on my wish list.
No help at all.
you need to slow down the instructions, its hard to follow
Absolutely correct! They are hard to follow. And the fact that they skip steps doesn’t help. Twice I followed the instructors directions step by step. Step A to B, B to C, only C is not what they say it is. Very irritating and totally wrong. I tried to contact someone, but was told they have to help number. Bad business! Not everyone is a computer whiz!
Planning on getting this app because I will probably be the only one on the team to use it. Really like how you presented this tool. Thanks for taking the time to do this.
My absolute pleasure Dale! I pray it's a blessing to you and your team!
Yeah! I have a DSL 40C, it s sounds amazing
Awesome!
What kind of Strat is that?
It's a Squire strat from '89 that I modded and upgraded. A "Bullet II" I think...
Does it have a humbucker? I use sss and hss in stratocasters. Both Fender and Squire. Been leaning toward hss myself.
