You recently commented on another ADV rider's experience of being mugged in Belize as it being one of your greatest fears. Mine has always been getting seriously injured far from medical care. Fifty years ago when I first started exploring South America I picked up a half dozen ampules of morphine and a couple syringes from a guy who had been a medic in Vietnam. Different time, different sensibilities of course and I wouldn't risk that today. But I still make a habit of carrying a 3 day supply of (legally prescribed) Oxycontin in my med kit. Never had to use it but it's reassuring to know it's there. Good to know your fall didn't slow you down for long.

Being mugged, getting injured, etc... doesn't worry me personally. Rose is who I'm most concerned with. Something happening to her is my worst nightmare! But luckily, as you can tell, she's pretty tough!! 💪

Glad you are (relatively) alright from the crash. Sucks to be out in the middle of NOWHERE and have an incident like that. Ok - enough of the high desert. Ain't but so much barren and sandy landscape you can see. Find some mountains with trees and grass. Maybe even a little warmer for you to spread out by a nice stream. Metaphorically to be lost is fun, like the metaphor “lost in love”, though literally the other half gains far greater relevance as obstacles emerge. This poses an interesting dilemma for an adventure traveler. If I go for metaphorical fun I tend to bias behaviours that I know pose significant risk to future fun or the good life.
