Grave Robbers of the Bolivian Badlands (S3:E57)

Chad and Rose depart Argentina and cross into the Bolivian badlands, to explore the final stomping grounds of Butch Cassidy and The Sundance Kid.
Pushing north through scenic high-altitude desert, en route to Uyuni and Bolivia's altiplano, they encounter remote ghost towns right off a Hollywood backlot, and have a run-in with Pachamama - the Quechua deity to whom animal, and human sacrifices are offered...

Yikes! Are you sure those graves had been opened by robbers? Or is it possible the occupants came back to life and are wandering the surrounding hills? Don't think I'd want to be there after dark. Your adventures are better than any scripted story. The two of you've got a real flair for story telling. You keep me on the edge of my seat all week anxiously awaiting the next episode. Plus,I've been "reading ahead" and know that you're about to turn the dial up to 11. Ye Gods, I can't wait to get back

@justyouraveragejoe7359 I bought this AT and the end of 2018, and set off solo 1 month later. The dealer had a DCT on the floor, and I took it out for a spin, but never had a chance to really settle into it. It went against years of muscle memory, not to mention I didn't want to end up with something overly complicated down here in the wilds of South America... The new ATs are intriguing, although I don't know that I'm not sold on all of the electronics... 🤔 Thank you for the kind words and supporting the channel! Have fun on your Twin!!! 🍻

Wow!.......What the willingness to explore can reveal. There is so much to discover that is off the beaten track and it is so easy to be kinda lazy and continue instead to a destination, particularly if a time schedule is involved. What I love about the way you travel is this willingness, if not compulsion, to turn down a dirt track and explore the unknown and as we see here the result can be amazing. Thanks and enjoy and look forward to next episode and seeing more of Bolivia and this mystery explained. Happy travels.

That's honestly why I / we tend to travel solo. I (Chad) have had some amazing riding partners, and some... well... not so much. It really boils down to personalities and travel style. Of course, not everyone can just wander around willy-nilly. A lot of people have limited time, and a list of things they want to see and do within that time... Therein lies the difference between "traveling" and simply "taking a trip". True travel doesn't have an itinerary, a route, or a schedule. 🍻

Another true adventure. About crossing borders, I hate that too. On my last two international flights, I boarded a plane without showing my boarding pass, just waved my passport from the distance. All I had to do was stop in front of a camera without a hat. Incredible. It will take a long time until AI arrives at border crossings between Argentina and Bolivia. LOL. But it's happening elsewhere. On national flights, going through security at airports I no longer need to show a boarding pass either. It's all via either my document or a camera. Meanwhile, I can't wait for the other chapter on your adventures.

The fact of having to cross a boarder with its officials but interesting eye candy on the other side can evoke a love/hate relationship through an array of contrary emotions. Though anticipation and trepidation simultaneously are probably for me the two primary emotions when approaching a much anticipated and dreaded geopolitical juncture. The over land from India to Nepal is a favourite. One way out hypothesis for the grave site anomaly is that the current dependents return to collect the remains for archival purposes, or reburial rituals as if to keep the remains safe for the second coming of Christ if that belief system is a prior consideration. A second hypothesis is that the grave robbers are a religious cult who needs human bones, the evidence for these cults are there like the Agori babas in India (funerary cannibalism). A third hypothesis is that a clever scavenger animal could dig in and prior open the graves.
