Just received this great Ernie Ball Music Man Bongo 5 HH with Piezo pickup in for review. This bass was made in 2004 and this version with Piezo pickup is no longer available.
I recorded the bass direct through my A-Designs Audio REDDI and Apogee Duet 2 and mixed it down in Logic Audio.
The bass has DR Strings Put Blues and I used Tsunami Cables for all audio connections.

Great review as always! It's nice that you recorded the bass direct :) It helps to hear how the bass sounds like compared than just using the room mic

I just got one last month!! I love it so much I'm looking at a 2nd one.but one with the HS&P
I like all 3 pickups together: the neck magnetic pickup, the bridge magnetic pickup & the piezoelectric pickup, all combined.
Got my eye on one. Hopefully I can buy it. I have a normal 5HH barolo bongo
"Pee-AYE-Zo" Liked that you presented the DI signal instead of miced.
To me piezo makes more sense on fretless, but this is clearly a very cool bass.
Are those Piezo pickups battery free? And if they are, is it possible to transform a normal bongo into piezo equipped?
were those stock strings?

Pee-ez-zo. and it has way too much string noise i find. maybe the way the bass is set up. John Myung plays one.

P-edzo, trust me. Or more simply go to Google translate and listen to the italian pronunciation for piezo😏

This one actually looks good. But all in all bongo was an ugly bass for me. I like the piezzo pickup alone cause it sounds like an acousitc bass. Magnetic pickups sound great. If I had money to waste, I would spend it on that bass.

Agreed. But it kind of grows on you and I wouldn't mind one if there was a good deal for it LOL Barring their look, the few times I've tried it in stores, it felt really good in my hands and was a very versatile bass.

I used to hate the shape at first. Then i happened to own one and i wouldn't change it for anything in the world! Oh, then it's a matter of personal taste. By the way, I watched a John Petrucci video review of the majesty and he says "paizo". Whatever. :)

To be honest I'm glad that made it look like that aren't you kinda tired of seeing the some ol style bodies? This is fresh looking and the sound amazing!!! I love the bongo my favorite bass !!!

Can’t get through your video. It’s pee-ay-zow. Everyone else says that or pie-zow. You managed to mix them up for two variations that no one else says. You recorded and posted a video but couldn’t spare a few seconds to google it first.
