That cutless sounds really killer for a passive bass.

I am not a person who you would ever get to say that something is better than a Fender...especially a P bass. The Fender bass models are both in my top 3 guitars of all time (1. J Bass 2. Strat 3. P Bass). But, that Cutlass tone and the dynamics of it are just...absolutely god damn perfect and it's, really, what a P Bass should, or maybe 'meant to', sound like. I can't believe I am thinking and saying this shit lol. But I have just discovered Music Man, in this capacity. I just, yesterday, learned of Leo Fenders role in the company and it blew me away. Also, the fact that he did it secretly because corporate asswad CBS made him sign a non-compete, made me love him even more. So, I immediately set out to read up on and listen and learn about these Music Man models and what their essence is. I am, almost definitely, going to be getting a Stingray in the next week or two lol
Please! Do a Sound Like series for bassists.

Nathen seems genuine, Lee seems a tab plastic, just my take. Lee's head bobbing while fiddling with the knobs seems a tad un-natural. Thanks for the great review guys otherwise.
Hah! Awesome bass jam at the beginning!! So musical and tastefull. You guys are great players!
I have played the bass for a number of years now. Once I heard and played for myself the music man stingray 4HH I bought one in 2014; got rid of all my other basses. After playing and gigging for the past three years with it, I have not wanted needed or played any other base. Totally solid guitar! Just recently, last week, purchased a music man stingray 5H pound for pound dollar for dollar peso for peso worth every little extra bit! Endless possibilities and tone shaping; love it!
A very Funky morning to you as well!! Very nicely done, gentlemen!!
Just waiting on the day when you guys do a video on the Bongo 5's and 6's... I come back to this video so much because I adore the sound of the bongo, its' probably my dream bass
Great to see a MM video. Keep 'em coming!👍
Great work! Nice to see Musicman basses. The Bongo is one amazing bass - I have two! To clear things up - all single H bongos are 3 band EQ. The HH and HS models are 4 band. That bass on the video has the older tuner pegs from around 2012, so NOS. All P basses use one two-piece split-coil humbucker. More bass plz.
I've got a Bongo 6 HS with the Starry Night finish, man this is a gorgeous instrument.
Hey hey from America! Love your guys's channel; your jam sessions make me want to quit, and get better at the same time... thanks for everything you do. Would like to see more on the schecter model t and others by them, but love everything so far!
I really love the bongo, as a Prog fan, the bongo is on its way to becoming as synonymous with Prog as the Rickenbacker. John Myung from Dream Theater has been making noise with this thing. And as we all know, newer Prog bands tend to follow suit of what DT does. Dave LaRue, Steve Morse's bassist uses one two as he's been a MusicMan artist for a while I think. I had actually gotten really interested in the MusicMan Big Al bass, but I heard that they've been discontinued which is a huge bummer, since they might be harder to find now. Enough rambling, very nice video guys!
Nothing wrong with a little Starsky and Hutch to start your day!
That is the tightest slap playing I've ever heard from Nathan, just...yes.
Hey guys great review on Music Man basses!!! I'm digging it. What song is that jam your doing at the beginning of the video? It's awesome.
I have Bongo 4HS late 2003 .... Sound fuckin huge and powerful. Really love it.
Musicman make the best bass necks. So comfy.
you fellows make an extremely talented team.

Yes, all of split pickups are humbucker.

however, there is only a single coil under each string. whereas a MM humbucker is two coils under the strings
That lick at 8:49 was sublime
My God the Caprice sounds good.
How old is that bongo? It has the old style tuners and those haven't been used in probably 5 years.
Can you do more pedal demos Maybe use some non bass pedals and see how they do like tone city pedals
Yeah! Nice!
They make a single coil buck hum by stacking the coils. (Hope this helps)
can someone tell them what camera to look at ;-)
Stingrays in a next video. Cool! Do compare the 2 band eq to the 3 band eq as some say the 2 band eq has the archetypal Stingray sound.
@pacomaraca

beftus1264 Having both a 2- and a 3-band I can confirm this. The two-band creates that noble 70s Bernard Edwards sound, while the three-band is a modern punchy machine. I love both sounds but personally I slightly prefer the classic tone. There are some nice comparison videos around on youtube.
What's with all that fret buzz and digging in in this particular video?! Especially for the groove holding down the track
ugh ever since I read that comment about the "yeeaah"s I can't stop noticing them!
When they say "Bongo", I thought of the word reminding me a percussion at first.
What about reflex basses? The game changer?
theyre the best basses i swear
Hey I think All About the Bass should do a P-bass Vs. Jazz bass video.

Wish they did the demo of a HH or the Big Al Bass. Anything with more than 1 tone which uses a switch maybe. :/

Starsky and Hutch!
Try to unsee the shot at 6:12.
Damn Nathan! You were slappin dat Bass like it owed you money!! :D lol
Starsky & Hutch :)
A tiny bit of "Bongoism". Co designed by BMW, that Car Company, and often referred to as the "Toilet Seat Bass" by Nutters and Wankers,, I HIGHLY recommend buying your Bongo "Fully Loaded"......a topic for another video as you become more familiar with the line. :) IMHO.....one of the finest basses available today....and tomorrow! 🍎 🎩

I am a big fan of your bass demo/review videos, however, I would really like to be informed as to the construction in a bit more detail, such as: the number of pieces in a laminate neck, or specifying that it is a single piece neck, fretboard radius, fret size and profile, the quality of the fret dressing , The profile of the neck and the consistency of that profile from body to nut,, and something your vendors might not like, but as someone who has done work on, either by choice or by necessity, every instrument that I have owned, I would love it if you would open up and show us the quality of their wiring (I know there is zero chance of that happening, but I just thought I would throw that out there in the hopes that maybe another reviewer on KZread might have the stones to pick up that ball and run with it). One last thing, when will you be opening a store in the states? I happen to know the perfect candidate to run the store… Me. Thank you for helping those of us who love music, are passionate about music, and for whom music is an essential part of who and what we are, for whom music is a part of our eternal and infinite soul...
The garden variety Fender Precision pickup is a split coil, series wound, humbucker -- just like the EB in the video. Nothing new here.
Eh, that's The Chicken at the end!!
I wish I could have a euro/dollar for each 'yeah' these guys say! I'm kidding. Keep up the good work ;-)
12:09 Cutlass Sound
Sucks that they got rid of the big al bass
didn't know theon Greyjoy played bass
Funky
Big prices at Andertons
Ummmm...I want one...but not one of those weird new ones. :)
You guys are both really good players but what’s with having the action so low that the strings are constantly rattling and buzzing on the fretboard. Raise the strings so we can actually hear the tone of the basses.
Is it just me, or do most of the bases featured in Andertons videos, sound the same ? I am not sure the sound differences come across in the way these are recorded. It is not the same with guitar brands that mostly sound different.

I think it's got a lot to do with how basses are played clean, plus I have a feeling using the DI out on the darkglass robs a lot of the frequency characteristics.
@abyuriy

Don't know about sounding the same, but it sounded a little bit... overcompressed?
@gregg4164
7 жыл бұрын
Its because these guys only use one set up on the amps and use one sorry tone on every video. You could have them play an active specter bass and they would make it sound like crap or even take all the growl out of a Warwick.
Cutlass basses sadly have been discontinued. The price was just too steep, imho
The Bongo sounds like an active Musicman the only way to go with Musicman !!!
cutlas bass > fender pbass, trust me

Music man Toilet Lid
Those bongos look just like a toilet seat!
yeah.....yeah.....yeah yeah....yep.....yeah....yeah lol please stop.
I have played bass for many years and I have never liked the sound of Music Man basses. They make me feel sick. Literally.
Those bongo basses look like absolute shit and sound worse.
I feel music man really screwed up with some of the new designs.. Boring copys of p basses......

They could've just used the Stingray body and offer those pickups as options. Because what do we see if we see the original prototypes? s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/originals/bb/ee/08/bbee0899adbd5e03d18b5b33f742d362.jpg i36.photobucket.com/albums/e22/guitarman91/1stingrayprototype.jpg

RastaSaiyaman The Caprice and Cutlass shown in this video are both passive instruments. Nobody wants a passive Stingray. Kinda defeats the purpose of it being a Stingray in the first place lol

Gabe Newell they did it for revenge. For years, they had an unspoken agreement with fender to not do each other's thing. When fender dropped the dimension bass, musicman said you are doing our stingray, we'll do j and p. I don't blame them.
