I am not a person who you would ever get to say that something is better than a Fender...especially a P bass. The Fender bass models are both in my top 3 guitars of all time (1. J Bass 2. Strat 3. P Bass). But, that Cutlass tone and the dynamics of it are just...absolutely god damn perfect and it's, really, what a P Bass should, or maybe 'meant to', sound like. I can't believe I am thinking and saying this shit lol. But I have just discovered Music Man, in this capacity. I just, yesterday, learned of Leo Fenders role in the company and it blew me away. Also, the fact that he did it secretly because corporate asswad CBS made him sign a non-compete, made me love him even more. So, I immediately set out to read up on and listen and learn about these Music Man models and what their essence is. I am, almost definitely, going to be getting a Stingray in the next week or two lol

I have played the bass for a number of years now. Once I heard and played for myself the music man stingray 4HH I bought one in 2014; got rid of all my other basses. After playing and gigging for the past three years with it, I have not wanted needed or played any other base. Totally solid guitar! Just recently, last week, purchased a music man stingray 5H pound for pound dollar for dollar peso for peso worth every little extra bit! Endless possibilities and tone shaping; love it!

Great work! Nice to see Musicman basses. The Bongo is one amazing bass - I have two! To clear things up - all single H bongos are 3 band EQ. The HH and HS models are 4 band. That bass on the video has the older tuner pegs from around 2012, so NOS. All P basses use one two-piece split-coil humbucker. More bass plz.

I really love the bongo, as a Prog fan, the bongo is on its way to becoming as synonymous with Prog as the Rickenbacker. John Myung from Dream Theater has been making noise with this thing. And as we all know, newer Prog bands tend to follow suit of what DT does. Dave LaRue, Steve Morse's bassist uses one two as he's been a MusicMan artist for a while I think. I had actually gotten really interested in the MusicMan Big Al bass, but I heard that they've been discontinued which is a huge bummer, since they might be harder to find now. Enough rambling, very nice video guys!

  • @pacomaraca

beftus1264 Having both a 2- and a 3-band I can confirm this. The two-band creates that noble 70s Bernard Edwards sound, while the three-band is a modern punchy machine. I love both sounds but personally I slightly prefer the classic tone. There are some nice comparison videos around on youtube.

I am a big fan of your bass demo/review videos, however, I would really like to be informed as to the construction in a bit more detail, such as: the number of pieces in a laminate neck, or specifying that it is a single piece neck, fretboard radius, fret size and profile, the quality of the fret dressing , The profile of the neck and the consistency of that profile from body to nut,, and something your vendors might not like, but as someone who has done work on, either by choice or by necessity, every instrument that I have owned, I would love it if you would open up and show us the quality of their wiring (I know there is zero chance of that happening, but I just thought I would throw that out there in the hopes that maybe another reviewer on KZread might have the stones to pick up that ball and run with it). One last thing, when will you be opening a store in the states? I happen to know the perfect candidate to run the store… Me. Thank you for helping those of us who love music, are passionate about music, and for whom music is an essential part of who and what we are, for whom music is a part of our eternal and infinite soul...
