After watching at least three reactions to this story, I've come to the realization that Internet Historian is a master of getting his viewers to think exactly the way he wants them to, which I feel is a sign of excellent writing.

Well If you read this Erinya, they released 15 big updates to the game since this video came out, the last one was in april this year. This game is so good that I still enjoy it.

@@shardinhand1243 I think it's less about facial expression and tone, and more about hesitation, it is glaring how often he hesitate when he speaks, because he lacks confidence, the problem is, is he without confidence because he is a liar, or because that is just his personality as an introvert? And just like Erinya said, the video is purposely made in a way that you question and blame him first. As an introvert myself for the longest time, is really hard not to relate.

@@shardinhand1243 I don't know you, and don't know if I'm being too intrusive, if I'm, I'm really sorry, but I sympathize with that, specially when you are forced to talk to people. While obviously some people might just enjoy being introverts, like I do, and there is no problem, I know that some people that are like that, do not want to be like that, they just, most of the time, are being dragged by that thing called depression and anxiety that most people seriously underestimate, so if that is impairing your life in a problematic way, it may be daunting, but try to get professional help from a psychologist, it can help you.

This video from internet historian is one of my favourite KZread videos ever. Not only is he telling the story of the game. He's also showing that there are two sides to each story and that we shouldn't be quick to judge. It's incredibly well put together

33:36 FYI, when they said Sean was a 'hack fraud' they didn't mean he faked being hacked. Here they are using an older use for the word hack -" a writer or journalist producing dull, unoriginal work." so calling him a hack fraud wass saying he made a boring game and he wasn't a great developer like they thought he was. Also, when IH said he sold his house, it was during development for Joe Danger, not No Man's Sky

the video is, in fact, designed to make you think Sean is the bad guy. IH intentionally does this to give you the perspective of the gamers. Then IH gives the perspective of the development team to literally show both sides of the story.

Don't know if you have touched this game since it isn't for everybody but this was such a redeem that no other company, not even big AAA has managed to accomplish, they improved immensely and offers everything for free, just for that they deserved a second try from me and im now hooked

This game has given me some of the most beautiful views of a dynamic, alive galaxy i've seen. Some planets are utterly breathtaking, others have ruins of civilizations long lost and the corresponding lore and archeology to go with it... Its just amazing. Also, im too scared of the ocean to go anywhere near aquatic planets, and finding space anomalies or getting warped in black holes is just horrifying

Why didn’t they tell you? Because this video is a test-a test to see how willing and ready KZreadrs are to jump on the bandwagon when controversy is brewing. So many people who’ve reacted to this video go down the same path that you do, thinking that they’re supposed to hate Sean. There are liars and thieves and shitty people out there, both AAA and Indie…but it’s important to assume innocence until proven guilty.

For further context behind the law suit, it was for false advertising (which Hello Games objectively did participate in at launch, really no debate) and this was around the time gamers really started to get up in arms with anti-corporate sentiments and getting fed up with how games are being produced and sold, a mindset persistenting to this day still.

I love watching people react to this video. Almost everyone starts of remembering this game had a terrible reputation on launch and hating on Sean and then transitions to feeling bad for Sean to praising him to fixing the game.

Internet Historian made a good job explaining the behind the scenes of No Man's Sky but does not really cover much in terms of like personal in game stuff, so i recommend that you watch "The No Man's Sky Hypercut" by Jimothy Ross if you wanna see a video that covers pretty much the average playthrough of it

Sean basically realized that, in order to fix the game, he had to essentially cut the team off from the negative feedback loop that social media creates.

In the second part they tried explaining that it wasn't all lies and lots of it being the press running wild. Gotta listen too ...

Internet Historian crafted a story in a way to objectively show the story of No Man's Sky from the fan's perspective, only to warp your perception by showing you the true behind the Scenes with Sean Murray and how out of his depth he was with the press circuit. It really makes you feel for him, and root for him in the second half. Also as for the lies, I actually think they were things they had in the game at the time, but they had to cut a lot of features during the Delay to make the game in a semi-playable state.

Great reaction, and glad you're enjoying IH content :) Btw, at 32:30 regarding refunding games vs lawsuit, something you may not be aware of is that you can usually only refund a game if you've played less than a couple hours. For all the people that preordered and explored Day 1, most would have probably played a lot longer than that because of the hype, and hoping the issues were just early grind.

Bought it back in 2016, it was a mess but enjoyable for a while. Didn't touch it again for years until the engoodening happened. Oh my, it was such a great redemption arc!

"This is my lesson to never believe anything at the start of the video again, I learned my lesson" I think the lesson here is to try and consider things from other people's perspectives and not judge too harshly when you don't know the whole story xD

I don't know this Vtuber but it was fun watching her go from bashing Murray to giving an apology. Much cuteness, much adorableness. Also that dress 😳 I was looking respectfully I swear!

I always prefer the reactors pause when they want to read chat or say something so they don't miss anything in the vid. Or if they don't pause, at least rewind a few secs.

I think it was more of the lack of understanding of the language and some contexts of what he was saying. There were some moments when she missed stuff, but I noticed the language barrier more. Can't really blame her for that.

Oh yeah, the fanfic. Fun story-there was an older vid on a guy who had an interview with Tucker Carlson that made Carlson, scum sucking parasite he is, look *reasonable* in comparison. Part of that vid was that, when trying to show a “real” flyer he found, he shared a photo of his computer screen…which had a tab on NHentai open. He claimed it was to showcase that Tentacle Porn was a thing, but A) the work in question *doesn’t have that* (IH even did a sample from that, albeit without going into the sex) and B) he showed that it isn’t that hard to find that particular fetish. Edit: for reasons uncertain, the vid was deleted on IH’s main channel, but was reuploaded by someone else.

No Man's Sky is a good example as to why you don't have the game's dev run PR for their game. Sean Murray gets his words overblown and being able to walk that back is just gonna end up killing the game.

Look, if people really wanted to play a game for the equivalent of a “roll up, roll up, come see the freaks,” it’d be Diekatana.

I love this video, and watching people react to it.

Whoever got this game for $1 was a genius.

Internet Histroian has a third channel not a lot of people seem to know about called Storymode where he goes summarizes the storyline in games. It's more like his stuff on his Incognito Mode channel where it's usually him and someone else just sortta ripping on a game and just making dumb jokes but I enjoy it.

Ayy classic. Such a crazy story

I feel the impact is better if the Fallout 76 vid was watched before-the first half is basically a retread of that, before switching perspectives.

This reaction is the most I've seem anyone get roped in by the narrative whiplash from how IH presents it.

Having watched a streamer play it at launch, he got all the words, got a ship with maximum stats, found all the technology and then bee lined it to the center of the galaxy and ended the game And having just bought it last week and played it for 20 some hours It is Astonishing how much better it is I'm going to have to be careful to not neglect my Chickens and the other work I have to do around the house

It's 2024 as of this comment. Aside from the fact that updates have been consistently coming out since Internet Historian's video, they've even still been coming out since this reaction video. They haven't slowed down. We just got another massive update a month or two ago, and a Switch port not too long ago.

played the game, great game but ain't a fan of spending 100 hours farming in one specific planet to get the specific materials to do the specific updrage for my specific airship that can only be baught in another specific galaxy at an specific time-frame, ain't nobody got time for that.
