Selma I loved your knitting story, so wonderful to have your Mother's knits, they would be still stylish today. The porcelain and paintings your Grandmother and Mother crafted are also amazing. To have and treasure, passed down through the generations. Goes without saying, your knits are always so beautiful. 🤗

The lace legwarmers are not as warm, I knitted Alpaca Sox Legwarmers by Pam Allen but use them over leggins, not nylons. They do help keeping me warm in winter. Selma, thanks for sharing your knitting story, it is quite touching. lovely knits and furture dream knits, you queue is almost as long as mine. 😉

Your knitting story!! 🥹 How precious! Your father's potholder!! And your mother's knits, beautiful!!! What a knitting story! And mohair at 14!! My grandmother crocheted and always sent us slippers at Xmas. But for me, I taught myself to knit at 20 when I knit a crude, seamed pullover for my first child. I finished it but who knows what happened to it. Life got too busy! Then fast forward to 2001, I found a Lions Brand magazine at Joanne's Fabric, on the anatomy of a knitted sock. I bought it and taught myself to knit socks and more! The rest is history! What a lovely podcast today. Thank you for sharing the love of this wonderful craft!❤️

I'm 70 years old, and when I was 9 years old, my step-Mother bought yarn and needles for her self and me and when knit stocking hats. Her's turned out perfect, my had a funny point at the top! I stopped knitting, my Step-Mom kept knitting. She graduated into machine knitting. And I remember being on a trip and she seeing this knit dress in a store window. She went home, drafted her own pattern and made the dress. I still have that dress and all the other things she knitted for her self and for me. I love looking at them, they have wonderful memories with them. I think you and I were lucky.

How wonderful that you have those knitted heirlooms from your Mother, and also the beautiful ceramics from your Grandmother. Priceless ! I was taught to knit aged 8 by my Father, although he didnt knit himself, he knew how to do it. My Mother was the active knitter . She always had a rogue stitch that shouldn't be there, but she would leave her mistake intact as her " trademark ". She would say it was deliberate :) Her name was Dorothy, and if myself or my sister find a mistake in our knits, we say we have "done a Dotty " 😄 xxx

Such a lot of beautiful colors this time. I am really looking forward to see your upcoming projects. I have made the Vair, with the stripes and it is not as bad as it looks in the book. You read a bit, but its like most other sweaters, so it will be easy as soon as you start. Smiles from a Norwegian podcaster

What great memories to have your mothers items. My neighbor taught me to knit because my mother and grandmothers did not knit.

I’m making the heartwood sweater in plotulopi. It’s almost finished and I have still a little bit left off my second plate. I used a single strand. I think one plate is enough for mittens

Hi Selma, Thanks for another beautiful podcast. I love how you capture glimpses from your day to day routine as a gentle reminder to be grateful for nature and all we have around. It's easy to get lost in tomorrow and in a mundane routine & your podcast gets me back to what really matters. Your lace knits look awesome!

The Frida Kahlo museum is great and the craft market in Coyoacán is also very good. If you can manage to go to the museum on a Saturday, take a taxi over to nearby San Angel; the Saturday art (and craft) market is wonderful. Also in San Angel is a lovely museum in an old home and a convent with very scary mummies in the crypt! Incidentally, I don't think Diego Rivera's studio is worth the visit; go to San Angel on Saturday instead.

Have a wonderful time! If this is your first visit to Mexico City or if you haven't been in a while, the relatively new archeological site and museum in one corner of the zócalo is very good. Of course, the Museo Arqueológico is fabulous too. And I like the Ballet Folklórico, which is more folklórico than ballet. I lovelovelove Mexico City!

Wow! So many wonderful projects, love the leg warmers. Your mother and grandmothers porcelain art- so beautiful- real treasures! I have such fond memories of knitting with my mum, still miss her a lifetime later. The scenery reminded me of a time my youngest daughter, who was just graduated from Carlton and had moved to the attic of an old house near the Natural History Museum. We rented bikes and rode on a path by the canal to attend the Tulip Festival. I have never ridden a bike since (rickety arthritis old knees), but it is a lovely memory of a great time with my girl all grown up! Enjoy Mexico City- such a beautiful city, steeped in history!

Kate Davies released a vest pattern with the twisted stitch motif from Norah G. It's called Argyll, in case you're looking for a pattern that already features that motif.
