I watched your first vlog when you took ownership of your ex hire boat from Mirfield/Battyeford marina and you set off, crossing the River Calder and headed down the canal towards Brighouse. You're face looked like the cat who got the cream. I could see that your previous life's woes simply falling away as you navigated those first few miles. This revelation, albeit no great surprise to me, has given you that same look as when you began cruising the cut. I am so pleased you have found each other and I wish you both all the best for the future. Keep on vlogging.

Harry, firstly thank you for such an amazing comment. Yes the cut has proved to be a wonderful healer, in so many ways. As you say my initial response to being on board was utter relief, and everything was so new I had no time to even consider my previous woes. Three and a half years on I just can't believe my luck. Thank you for watching and your comments. There are more in the pipeline, and hopefully more frequently than they have been of late.

@@talesfromtheswansneck That's how I met my dear late wife of 56 years - by sheer chance. She sat next to me on the boat train to the Ascania, from Liverpool to Canada, in 1952, when I was emigrating. The only seat left on that train was next to me! She was a Canadian en route back to Canada after a year's sabbatical. We hit it off right away, We were engaged halfway across the Atlantic and married in her hometown of Banff, Alberta three months later. We had 56 years together, four kids, and several careers before I lost her to Parkinson's disease in 2008. I miss her still. That's why I said: Cherish each other. Never let the sun go down on your anger and although the two hardest words to say are "I'm sorry" say them anyway. Sending love. John, Ontario, Canada

Having just found your channel and working backward through them I have to say you're a natural presenter. The little boy in the youtube photo is 65 now and envious as can be. Over here in the states all we have are rivers and they seem to be drying up. Best wishes to you both

Thanks Mark, I hope you enjoy the backlog. I had never even seen a narrowboat when I bought this one and was quite unaware of the beauty of our canal system. All I can say now is that I wish I'd come across it earlier in my life - but hey while hindsight is a wonderful thing all we can do is enjoy the now.
