Hi Andrew. We follow a number of narrowboat KZreadrs but the wonderful quality of your filming combined with your clear, well paced narration (even pronouncing the letter 't' unlike so many these days !) makes your vlogs just the absolute best. We always await them. I think I probably said something similar to this once before, but I thought it warranted it saying again. D

It was a fantastic summer, and as we deal with sub-zero temperatures and frozen canals it feels a long way off.

It certainly does take care Andrew and val all the best cheers 🍻 👏 ✌️ 👍
Fascinating fact about the Thames' Isis name. I know that the Thames in Spanish is "Támesis", but I did not know that it was because of Latinisation, which makes perfect sense.
Jumped off those bridges along that stretch of river when I was a boy and swam up near the roundhouse. You’ve reminded me of it so will visit soon as ten minutes down the road 😃

Pleased to have jogged some happy boyhood memories Dave. It is a fabulous bit of the country and must have been a joy for any kid. I don't recommend that you jump off any bridges now though !

Thank you so much Lionel and Mary. Fab place to be and we want to return next summer for an extended stay.
Hi Andrew I winded my 62ft boat above the footbridge in September. Possible but I do not claim to have avoided the putty. BTW, the River Isis is strictly the river above Dorchester where the River Thame joins below Days Lock. Jeff

Thank you Nigel, I try to convey what I get out of the scenery and lifestyle and if a bit of that comes across then I feel I've succeeded.
Wonderful seeing the latest video, really liking the Constable-like deep colour landscapes.

Thank you Andrew just wonderful scenery and lovely memories of the summer. When you think how built up the southeast is, the Upper Thames seems such an idyll

Thanks Stephen. I couldn't agree more. I found it really surprising that it was so rural. Who'd have thought. Looking forward to going back next summer to explore properly.

Hi Skip, only just come across this comment as it didn't show up on my phone. Pleased you're recovering, albeit slowly, but slow and steady wins the race as the saying goes. Hope you have enough movement in your little finger to play music. Autumn was crazy here, very warm, and a lot of the trees especially the oaks still have plenty of leaves. I've never known anything like it. Yeah had some hard frosts the past week but the leaves still cling on. Haven't had any snow where we are, and as the canal has some flow to it not much of it has frozen. Hope you have a good supply of winter fuel and friends, family and neighbours to help out if you need it.

@@talesfromtheswansneck the little finger is still pretty useless. Really miss it when playing guitar. It adds some many interesting notes to chores when it is working. Slowly learning how to add those notes with only 3 fingers.
Looked lovely. When i was a kid in the 60s my great aunt lived in a very big house near Lechlade, We always looked forward to our visits! In about 2007 I was on a motor bike club rideout from Essex, Someone broke down so we all pulled up, I glanced to my right, and it was the entrance to the estate my aunt had lived at!! Small world!

Amazing coincidence, and I guess you would've missed it if your friend hadn't broken down. I'm sure much has changed since the sixties, but I have to say I was totally blown away with how untouched and rural the river was.
You are both correct when describing that stretch of river. It is really stunning and you have captured the beautiful scenery to perfection. Rivers have a much more tranquil appeal compared to canals, mainly due to the nature along the river banks. The sun helps too. Thank you both for a very pleasant trip.

Thank you Harry, and yes I do think rivers are fairly special, especially that part of the Thames. I was a bit disappointed with the Severn, but perhaps on hot sunny days that too would become something extra special. I must say we loved that stretch of the Thames so much that we're planning on going back next summer for an extended stay.
Great vlog and cruise and Indeed a great couple. Brightened up my evening. Thank you.

Just watched a KZread of a widespread snowstorm in the UK dated today the 12th. Hope you two are in a place to safely sit back and enjoy the snow. We got 3 more inches of snow last night.

We’re just watching again Andrew. Wonderful videoing. We had a fantastic summer and made it to Windsor. We turned around under the bridge at Lechlade on advice. Where you moored is where we left that morning. Xx
As a 57ft, trad singlehander i would watch your channel to pick up any tips on awkward canal locations i've yet to travel. But now you've defected to crewing! I am very disappointed. (only kidding...good luck for the future. I plan to be on the thames and K+A in 2023)

Taking a dip in the Thames?!? 😱I guess they don't know about Thames Water's habit of dumping raw sewage into it!

@@talesfromtheswansneck Unfortunately not. Thames Water's publicly-accessible sewage discharge map shows that it regularly dumps raw sewage into the watercourse all over its coverage area, from the Cotswolds in the west through to Kent in the east. It really is quite shocking and is something that the general public just is not aware of.
