Episode 35 - The History and Watches of Rolex

In this episode, Cameron and Matt, joined again by Chef and Rolex expert Carl Ruiz, explore the history and watches of the most valuable and iconic brand in watchmaking history: Rolex. Rolex doesn't make the most technologically advanced watches, or the most complicated watches, and they haven't been around as long as many of the other manufacturers, but they are the most iconic watch brand on the planet, recognizeable the world over for their timeless designs, underwater capabilities, and overall quality.

I'm sorry, occasionally you have to click the swap button a few times to get it to click over, and sometimes I just don't notice. When you are engaged in conversation, trying to pull things up on the computer, and simultaneously producing the show, things fall through the cracks and there is just no way to know until later. I do the best I can, and sometimes the software just doesn't agree perfectly. Thanks for your understanding.

yes, havent even watched this episode yet but: if the same thing is happening ( the entire focus of the conversation is looking at and discussing what YOU’RE looking at on your computer screen- but you forget to switch OUR view ) .. its frustrating... given the $ you appear to have ( travel, buildings, watches ) GET A PERSON to handle production details so you can concentrate on the discussion... intern, fan, minimum wage .. We love the show, take it up a notch boys, you have viewers!

Look at OBS for recording, it will give you a screen that shows exactly what the final recording will look like (as well as lets you easily swap between scenes) and if you have a second screen you can have it off to the side and look at it whenever you want to make sure we are seeing what we are meant to be!

From what I know 904L WAS used in the late 80's. The 16610 Sub was supposed to have came out in 1988, BUT there was a problem with the 3135 movement which delayed it. SOOO?...Rolex put the existing 3035 movements in the new 904L Sub cases for about 9 months and called it the 168000.

If you look at the dial of a Submariner today, you’ll see that its water resistance rating displays the measurement with feet first, followed by meters. 1000 ft = 300 m. But as with most things Rolex, it wasn’t always this way. Some highly collectible vintage Rolex models are those referred to as Meters First Submariners.

Lol, not my favorite guest. Honestly, his take on the OysterFlex making a Yacht-Master look “small” is odd to me. This new “bigger is better” 40+ mm watch fad we have going on is relatively new and somewhat pompous. I anticipate the correction of this over the next decade or so. Guys walking around with bricks on their wrists is annoying.

Maybe just leave the camera on the screen full time? I would much rather watch you search in vain for something for 3+ minutes than miss out on rare GMTs or blacked out watches in favour of looking at your faces..
