Ennis vs Van Heerden FULL FIGHT: December 19, 2020 | PBC on SHOWTIME

Спорт

(December 19, 2020) Philadelphia's undefeated welterweight sensation Jaron Ennis (26-0, 24 KOs) saw his impressive 16-fight knockout streak come to a disappointing end after an accidental headbutt in the first round caused a brutal cut to the forehead of his opponent, Chris van Heerden (28-2-1, 12 KOs).
With only two minutes and thirty-nine seconds inside the ring to showcase his skills, Ennis was still able to flash glimpses of his championship potential as he landed 22 of 57 punches, 19 of them power shots as he appeared destined to stop the South African van Heerden and keep his KO streak alive before the clash of heads.
"Before the headbutt I had already cut him and I felt strong," said a disappointed Ennis. "I knew he was ready to go. I feel like I'm getting better and better. Now I'll just get back in the gym. As you could see from the first round, I was handling him easily. I feel like everyone is still sleeping on me, but I'm ready for anyone. Bring on the big names."

Tbh he was fighting a guy half his size, and the more the fight went on the more he was getting caught with some shots. I think that, if any good fighter gets through the first rounds, Ennis' chances will get lower and lower. Not to mention him facing an elite counterpuncher, they'd be his kriptonite from the first bell. Still an entertaining fighter ofc.

When he switched to Southpaw, it was over immediately. Do y’all realize how difficult it is to fight like this? or to fight against? In Boxing, a stance, in many cases, could be the difference between winning and losing. He’s switching between stances from one exchange to the next, not from round to round. Locating the jab is the first thing you're doing in there. How do you fight this guy? It would be easier if he didn’t have power from every angle. Somehow you've got to get inside and be capable of taking punishment and stay there - Robert Duran, Mike Tyson, or JCC might have a chance. 😂

Some cut men are miracle workers but it also comes down to if the fighter looks like he can't deal with the cut, like esparza cut v estrada when it was more a matter of her on her stool saying she didn't want to continue. If the cut fighter wants to continue (bad idea when it will eventually go to the cards if the cut opens up further) the doc and ref will usually let it go a while longer if the cut is not on the lid.

Spence is currently my favorite boxer, but I love watching a lot of the younger, up-and-coming boxers, including Boots. I kind of want to see him go up against Ugas first, and then later either Spence or Bud.

All we can compare is boots is 10times better , faster stronger and slicker than Spence was at the same age just give him his props. Stanionis went the distance with delurme right before boots stopped him in the 1st round. The fact that ppl are saying a young boots can beat a prime Spence now is all that matters. Spence reached his peak while boots ain't even got started yet

@@isaiahturner7031 Got it wrong, I ain't hating on Boots. The young man is a real talent and soon to become a Champ but if you say Boots is ten times better than Spence, then you're obviously just a fan for his person rather than one for the sport of boxing.

@@isaiahturner7031 that's ridiculous he hasn't proven he's better he's accolades or opponents he beat doesn't prove that, so this is what you believe 10x better is obviously your opinion you must remember Spence at 23 was being called boogie man and blacking Floyd eye dude Ennis at 33 not gone be as quick he gone haveta adapt his brain go watch any fighter who's a top fight there 20s they generally are most athletic but 30s is prime because your athletic is slowly declining but your mind and experience is key he don't got the experience or mind to beat Spence yet he need 2 more development fights then the top Dawgs

Ennis's aggression (one could say he was a lil overeager) and Van Heeedan's lack of aggression and poor defense (he dropped his right hand right before impact) created the perfect storm for this headbutt. This really sucked, I feel bad for Ennis. But not her has better opportunities against much better fighters

Looks like Van Heerden intentionally headbutted Ennis, but he took the worse of it. Van Heerden threw a right hook then threw the headbutt, doesn't accidental to me. I'm glad Ennis didn't get cut or worse.
