The sounds are amazing in F1 2020! It's a night and day difference to F1 2019. I love how raw and loud they sound unlike in last years game. Other than the Mercedes downshifts (which ain't that bad to be fair) I think they've done a solid job. My favourite is the Renault engine, the downshifts in particular sound absolutely incredible imo

I think Honda sound especially in downshifts is very brutal and very throatier from pre season testing.. and its so different in both 2019&2020 game.i think they didn't nailed it

hmm the Renault engine at the end of the 2019 season had a great sound probably one of the best and it had kinda crackles when downshifting.

DeLimaJunior6 yeah I noticed it as well! Especially in the higher revs, it sounds more like the Honda than the Honda does. The Ferrari needs to sound more clear and less suppressed in these higher revs.

They still haven’t got the aggressive downshifts the Mercedes and Honda have, and also the turbo whistle from the renault.

@@mxcnf1 yes im really excited fot the 'my team' mode. And cant wait to play it together with someone. Last time i could play splitscreen in a F1 game was F1 2006. So im very excited

I feel like they can never nail the Ferrari, it sounds completely different when watching onboard laps The best Ferrari engine sound was F1 2018 in my opinion

if you check the 2020 pre testing sound of the Ferrari with the external microphone you'll notice they've got it near to perfect

Renault sounds more like the red bull downshifting than the red bull does it self!

Bad when a modder on assetto corsa can get the Honda sound spot on yet a team of people at a huge game studio can't even get close...

Can't wait to hear those sounds for the next 12 months

Now let's hope they fixed some sound issues with the classic cars! Especially the wrong samples used for the F2004 and the MP4/13

Codemasters have done OK with the Honda engine in my opinion, I can hear a slight growl on the downshift. It is really subtle though so you wouldn’t be able to hear it unless you listened closely... Edit: I forgot to say on F1 2020

Why does the renault sound like the honda

They did better than last year but I don't understand how even having microphones on the cars STILL don't make the sounds 100% accurate.

because there are serval factors how something sound depending on the position of the microphone.. the angle it is installed etc. thats why it most likely will never be 100% accurate

Because of audio and file compression. If they had the audio file as accurate as possible, it would probably greatly increase the size of the game. Also, modern hardware might not be good enough to recreate a one to one sound just yet. I dunno though, I'm just guessing.

The Ferrari was fine, it just needed the engine note to be changed

Ferrari is a massive improvement!

Mercedes: sounds better this year but the downshifts sound like the engine is grinding against something. Ferrari: much better this year sound more like the hoover Ferrari that we know today just needs sound adjusting to sound more sharper and change to 8th gear could sound better. Renault: This engine sound the most realistic to the real Renault the upshifts and downshifts are spot on a thing that could make it better is to add the high pitch eeee that we normally hear good sound though. Honda: I am disappointed the most with this engine it doesn’t sound as good as the real life engine there is no gargle rattle or grinding in the downshifts it doesn’t sound dirty like the real life Honda definitely work to be done both with revs and downshifts. Rating out of 10 this year: Mercedes: 7/10 Ferrari: 8/10 Renault: 9/10 Honda: 6/10

Everyone was wrong. 2019 sounded better! 1st of all, Mercedes’s downshift in 2020 sounds like there’s oil leaking out! And for Honda, they should’ve added the cracks when it downshifts. Ferrari and Renault are both more accurate. Nothing to say about the 2.
