Aston Martin does not currently produce F1 engines (they have been struggling financially for quite a while and it was never in their budget) and TAG is a watch company, not an engine manufacturer. Red Bull uses Honda engines, starting last year (2019)

The Honda’s sound rambunctious, rowdy and the PIT setting really shows the aggressive growl of that PU. Not to mention the downshifts are brutal! The Ferrari’s sound measured and precise. They’re all around harmonious and sound “accurately” powerful. And it seems to me Honda may have gotten a lot of their attributes from Mercedes, they share that growl and lift note but the Mercedes engine note seems tuned to a higher frequency, making the growl “tin-y” and metallic sounding. Kind of unflattering really. The Mercedes’ downshifts and lift fall somewhere in between the Honda and the Ferrari. And the Renault, well let’s just say I was expecting a lot more from them. The note is pretty midrange and honestly has no redeeming character to me, like vanilla. All in all which is my favorite? HONDA! ! ! What a racing car note! Angry, aggressive and I can only imagine how immersive those downshifts feel to the pilot. Ferrari is a close second though. You can really hear the perfect engineering 😍

Its extremly stupid thinking electric will be the way to go xD Its already proven wverywhere that it takes at least 10 years for a combustion engine car to polute as much as an electric car... not to mention whatever they use to build their batteries isnt infinite either. So fuck off with electric shit Hidrogen combustion engines will be the way to go. Thats the only smart idea we have so far.

Barcelona and australia is différent by the heat you know but reliability is more for evryone this year i think. Ferrari got lot of problems. Thats was a friendly post 🙂

They sound fantastic in the heavy braking zones when the MGU-K is going the cars sound as futuristic and spaceshippy as they look.

Well, because both are turbo engines, of course they have a similar tone. It's basic physics. But that McLaren had the ability that neither of the current cars have: the ability to SHOUT, you know? It wasn't screaming like the N/A V10s, it was shouting through the whole area! You could hear the car WAY before it appeared to the eye. The hills next to the tracks reflected its sound, you could hear them exiting the pits - from the directly opposite part of the track, and it's something we will never EVER witness again in F1. Sure, F1 cars finally sound decent since 2017, but they don't raise your adrenaline, which is unfortunate, because currently the racing is also boring. Thus, there's not a single reason to visit the tracks, to watch them live.

ok, I get that V10's sounded heavenly and I fully agree. but V6s, especially after 2017 season, sound in my opinion really good. I do enjoy watching FPs and every Quali session just to hear those engines. and, arguably, V6s are more technologically advanced that any other engine 'till hybrid era .

This turbo sound is just amazing

Getting better. I would love if they gave them a couple thousand more RPM, they would sing

In some way i can understand everyone crying about not having the old sound of the v8 or v10 era anymore but eventho they might have sounded more aggressive the v6 sound has a little more character in my ears. It's more dynamic from low to high pitch sounds. The old naturally aspirated engines were always high pitch no matter which rpm lol

the v6 sounds more harmonious, the v8 sounds like they scream and the v10 sounds dissonant, maybe if the v6 has 2 exhausts they would gain a bit of that harsh sound, but I like this sound it has a different personality.

Honda and Mercedes engines sound like the 80s F1 turbo engines.💪 80s car sound was best in my opinion. I hope 2021 they sound even more like that.

yeah, in 2021 the max rpm limit is going from 15 000 rpm to 18 000, the cars will probably sound pretty damn badass by then.

sounds like Ferrari and Renault are so efficient, that they produce less noise, but clearly the volume depends on many things

Honda at low revs reminds me of 787B Rotary for some weird reason

@@Longshin777 the cars are incredible, but just like road cars, the exhaust note has been destroyed by turbocharging. Turbos are incredible for power and torque but they destroy the sound of a car. I dont suppose we are that far off of F1 being electric cars (electric cars are winning a lot of other races already)

Mercedes sounds the best for me. It's also the loudest. The low speed gargle/rumble reminiscent of that on Honda with the aggressive downshifts plus the wavy kind of sound it does when it is distant, damn!

The Renault sounds good also. I must say this since it doesn't seem like people appreciate it as much as it should. The low speed sound from the pit lane sounds so reminiscent of the 80s V6 Turbo's. Also, the Renault seems to have an aggressive wastegate. The turbo eats(vacuum) the sound on high rpm/speed.

Personally I like the Honda the most. Especially the Red Bull from 3:12 to 3:43. The Toro Rosso right afterward at 3:45 is pretty good too. I also love the way they sound when they're moving away from you.

Unfortunately not... F1 and FOM are probably gonna delete nearly all the videos from testing like they did last year. Therefore it's just too expensive and too risky that all the work would be for the garbage bin. Plus a lot of people on Facebook and Instagram are copying my footage which is just hugely annoying everytime.

Just for laughs they should install one of the older V12's or V10's in a current generation F1 car to see what the performance differences would be.
