Enchantment: The Magick of Voice + Song

Today we're dabbling in the rich magick of Voice and Song as a part of workings and ritual practice. Practitioners of all kinds have used song as a magical tool throughout history and across the globe--and it happens to be one of my favorites. :) Thank you for watching, Moon Babies! XOXO

My mother sang each of us our own lullaby that she would make up not long after we were born and they were our "Name Songs". We each had our own song and even though it was a short little something it was kind of like our security blankets. Any time we were scared or sad as small children she would sing "our name song" and we would feel so safe. We would even sing our Name Songs to each other when a particular scary storm would wake us up or one of us had a nightmare and didn't want to wake up Mom or Dad. This video made me think of that and I haven't thought about our Name Songs in ages! Loved the video and thanks for the trip down memory lane ;)

Oh my yes! My voice is one of my most-used tools in my craft. I use it to shapeshift, elevate, and ground. I use it to enchant and in offering. I also have created little songs for each of my children and will sing it them often for protection and love. I'll sing different songs to help my workings. Love singing and music in my practice, xo.

beautiful, poised, and insightful as always, Molly. Thank you. This also makes me think of the metaphysical theory that sound (many voices creating vibratory tones together) was used to elevate large stones in order to create perplexing ancient structures. I love that idea. There is so much trapped knowledge that exists in us. Thank for for being a reminder to everyone how powerful we really are.

What a neat topic! Fun fact- scientists discovered that cat purring uses a decibel that heals bone. I also have to wonder that Overtone singing (throat singing) also provides health benefits. But music itself certainly touches spiritual elements. I added this video to Pinterest, by the way.

It's crazy eerie because just today, I finally figured out the magic system I wanted to use in my story about a coven of witches. I researched enchantment specifically, because yesterday a friend sent me a screenshot of a story including that, and my magic system involves miniature vigils where a witch softly sings to an object, imbuing it with power. I just thought it was really neat that I made this conclusion today, and just now, while randomly scrolling through recommendations, I find this video, which by the way is very helpful and soothing. Much love and thanks to you!

Dear sweet Molly...yes I can sing, but Sister, I canNOT carry a tune in a coal truck! Hahaha! Another excellent and common sense message from you. Thanks so much. Several years ago I watched s video from another favorite YT witch and she spoke of a public ritual she attended. In an effort to "raise" energy they were asked to sing. Song what? Row Row Row Your Boat. She her first thought was along the lines of well isn't THIS stupid, but then she realized the energy in circle was growing and it was incredible. And of course I'm paraphrasing. Her point of the video, and she's another common sense witch, was don't judge until you've tried it. You just might be surprised. Adore your work here and you are very much appreciated!

I am writing late though i just found this video. I love to sing in a phantasy-language, free interpreting just the melody which is coming to my mind... to get in tune of the flow of dao (i call it "singing with the stones"). Or my feelings. Or to calm or heal myself or others... etc etc :)

Hi Miss Molly. My kids and I love to sing. We sing in the car, while doing chores, and just whenever we hear a song we enjoy. I'm not sure if it's actually part of spiritual practice as far as having any worship intentions. But we always sing to raise spirits if one of us is a little blue. But I do love singing the songs of Hugin the Bard who writes songs about the Welsh gods from the Mabinongion stories. We also love singing Seasons of the Witch. When my daughter needs a little strength against bullies we sing Nalini's song Circle of Women or the chant We All Come from the Goddess. Neither of us can divide fractions either lol Blessings lovely Unicorn Lady :)

Oh I love to "enchant"!!! The power of song in witchcraft is age old in my humble opinion. My culture sings to the gods, they sing to wake the earth or water, to stir air and welcome fire. To sing to Herbs, to wake and imbue then with purpose that goes beyond that of the therapeutic strengths of the herbs in question is just magick!! Intoning Runes is just too awesome, Great subject!!

I have actually been trying to dabble with this lately as I am a very musical person. I recently put out a call to the Universe for a guitar and a week later my aunt gave me one that she had that doesn't fit her. There is a lot of energy associated with that particular instrument, she has a name, and I feel as if she is part of my workings with Rhiannon. Thanks for these pointers! It's really going to help me develop a deeper relationship with my magical instrument!

Currently training as a practitioner in sound healing via College of Sound Healing in London & the ability to heal ourselves & others through singing or even spoken word, is astounding. Emoto's Hidden Messages in Water demonstrate this MASSIVELY - if you not checked this out, definitely do! The effect of positive words spoken at water, causes it to form snowflake like shapes. Negative words resonate in different ways, forming glob like images in the water. It's incredible!

It is a most precious sealing agent to my spells. I love this video. 💜💜💜♩♩♩

I LOVE your voice. I find i get very nervous and almost embarrassed if I sing with others (not that that happens often or at all) or if I'm near choirs. But I really like cleansing with using the voice - humming is about as far can get when it comes to "singing", but really effective because it creates a vibration that you can feel and project.

This is a subject that is very special to me because I'm a singer and music plays a HUGE part in my practice and in my life. I often sing in ritual. Last year when I went to witchcamp, I took a class that week that was all about creating ritual soundscapes, and I found myself getting some fresh ideas: keening, laughing, crying, crowing (lol, very Peter Pan), etc. It was lovely because I got to use my voice a great deal that week and would help cleanse the space before ritual with vocalizations, and that's something I use at home now in my solitary work. And singing with other witches is a moving experience! I wish I could do it more often. Anyway, thank you a thousand times for this video! It's good to get a conversation going about (to steal a line from Joanna DeVoe) putting the K in Musick. ;)

I'd say that your videos have really helped me think about the ways that would work best for myself in terms of starting my BOS and ideas on how to further my craft in a meaningful way. I was wondering: could you do a video on the history/meaning/uses of the witch's broom? I've noticed some witches have them and others don't, but I can't think of what they would be used for, and why some witch's choose to have one (and if it sounds like something I would like to try as well!). Any insight and history you can provide would be super neat! Thanks!

Do you think "mainstream" aka, the corporate music industry, uses these techniques? And intentionally cast spells on the masses that consume it? Or is this just paranoid ramblings of a introverted hermit? I often think about this tho. I used to be very into Gaga, and the charge her music gave me. It feels different now. Very different. And I'm not talking about the genre hopping she does. I feel like when she exploded, the emotional projection was happy, empowering, charging... I dunno. The corporatocracy scares me. It has NO pushback whatsoever. Witches...are too solitary imo. While the world is being radiated and the oceans are being raped, we are sitting in our little circles, hoping and casting away... Sigh... Where is the resistance. The real resistance. A legitimate world peace movement. Good lord I ramble.
