Elvis Presley - Dixieland - An American Trilogy ( On Tour 1972) [ CC ]
Музыка
Dixieland - An American Trilogy.... On Tour 1972. Recorded: 1972/02/16, first released on single.
Words & Music by Micky Newbury . Lyrics: Oh I wish I was in the land of cotton
Old things they are not forgotten
Look away, look away, look away Dixieland
Oh I wish I was in Dixie, away, away
In Dixieland I take my stand to live and die in Dixie
Cause Dixieland, that's where I was born
Early Lord one frosty morning
Look away, look away, look away Dixieland
Glory, glory hallelujah
Glory, glory hallelujah
Glory, glory hallelujah
His truth is marching on
So hush little baby
Don't you cry
You know your daddy's bound to die
But all my trials, Lord will soon be over

Elvis was a true Southern boy.

He was, and I love that he sang this song that unites the country through a song of the South version of history, then "All my trials" a song that came from a Negro spiritual that encapsulates the evils of slavery, and then "Battle hymn of the Republic" which presents the civil war as the salvation of the Union. Elvis forever! ⚡️

What would a Catholic Brit even have against Confederate Southern America to begin with? Shouldn't he have more, shall we say, halal problems to worry about?

It has nothing to do with anything against a Southern American state. Catholic service are very old fashioned. It's unseemly to have popular music playing at such a sombre occasion.

That seems like a very odd song a for a funeral unless he was a southerner.
There will never EVER be another ELVIS and Dixie Land proves it The song makes me cry.
RIP to the beautiful states of Virginia, Georgia, North Carolina, and Tennessee... y’all are not forgotten. Forever live Stone Mountain.
Elvis uniting the country. We could use him today.

This song is for all America, and the world. God’s glory is for all. And that’s how Elvis would want it.
his voice never left him even in his darkest days
He has been gone now for 45 years?? I remember where I was the day he died. The singers of this age come and go. Elvis will be for always. How lucky was I to know his music and his presence. Thank you Elvis xx

2023 and he's the greatest my favorite song by Elvis
This for me is Elvis's best performance and his best song. Pure magic. Too good for this miserable World. There really are no words to describe how awesome he was at singing. He was an Angel sent to Earth to bring joy and happiness and boy did he do that with his God given incredible voice. He had it all, a great voice, great looks, great personality.
