@@SGProductions87 purely theory crafting but maybe its akin to how altered carbon does things? In the altered carbon book/netflix series people's consciousness/memories/personality etc are uploaded to a device at their skull base. As long as the device remains intact even if their body dies they can be "spun up" from this device in a new body after your transfer the data over to the device in the new body (people above a certain age have these devices installed mandatorily). If I had to guess the ring records everything about Vlad (including the moment of his death so he knows who to hold accountable) and when his body is regrown he can pick up where he left off.
Stalk and Snipe for Mortars isn't about diving the backline, if they dive the backline they'll find them anyway, it's about denying counter battery fire.

Could also bring 19 stalking mortars as the AI is very bad at going after sniping units. It literally doesn't realize that they're there and shooting.
The ironsides had repeaters in the announce trailer and then in one of the blogs they said: "Some of you spotted Ironsides with non-regulation repeater handguns in our Thrones of Decay announce trailer. This footage was captured on an in-development version of the game. However, in order to remain as authentic to the world of Warhammer as possible, the Nuln Ironsides at release will be issued with master-wrought handguns, plate armour, and highly-drilled firing discipline." The authentic part shouts that GW told them no cut it

Yeahhhh super disappointed with the new ironsides . The old ones with standard uniforms and 120 unit size with repeaters and bayonets was amazing. Maybe they'll see all the disappointment. Everything else was amazing but the ironsides are the only common unit compliant
Remember how in previous total wars units could dismount? Now imagine the mount gets killed at 20% hp and the lord/hero is left on foot with the remaining hp, or some set value, like 30-40%. That would make us both enjoy using mounted heroes to their full potential and having an opportunity to witness their glorious animations.

That also reflects well how lords on big monsters worked back in oldhammer. The mount absolutely could get killed out from under your lord. I like it.

Lol I've literally had the same thought! 2 health bars. When the mount dies, the lord fights on until the end.
snipe just makes sure you don't get discovered when shooting. Stalk makes you hidden in open terrain. So if they're firing from inside or the edge of the woods, they'll remain hidden.

They don't even need to shoot from woods they can shoot from anywhere and not get detected. Also it applies to war wagon mortars which might prove hilarious in fights

@@meksil8776 Woods are just an example,yes. Another way would be to give them stalk via an active ability (such as Skarsnik's tricksy traps), or a banner whose name I can't remember. They might even get stalk through tech trees in campaign, but they don't have innate stalk in the video. So no, if they're standing on a hill or in the field, they will be visible, whether they fire or not.

@@meksil8776 Ah I see the confusion now. We were talking about the Hochland Long Rifles, although it wasn’t clear from our comments. In the video, Indiepride expressed some confusion about the consequence of the longrifles having snipe but not stalk - this post was a response to that moment, not to the upgrade for the mortars. You are completely correct about the mortars! They will be able to hide and shoot without a forest.
Man, the energy between Shadows of Change and Thrones of Decay is like night and day. Everyone seems so hyped and excited for this DLC and I am here for it!

15:55 Cookie my man, i dont think it should be understated how freaking insane it is for you to be able to throw up one of these towers and build a building in 1 turn that lets you recruit freaking tier 3 units immediately, and it seems like you can do this very early into the campaign.

from the looks of it, you may still need prerequisites like the armoury, as i think theyre red outlined on there still. would be pretty strong if you could outright get them from the towers

@rossdaley5829 no. The unit would be greyed out and it tells you the requirement. also that's the red outline of the empire ui. Also you can place these things in foreign cities. You can't build armories in foreign territory

@@user-hh5ft5gg2kIt seems they did play around with the idea but abandoned it in favour of staying closer to the lore. I guess either it's something that happens more often when deciding what makes the cut and what not, or Games Workshop preferring the Nuln Ironsides to keep their normal rifles.

They are a few situations where I like Lords and heroes to be on foot. Often times you can leave them in melee forever, since their hitbox is so small and their melee defense typically is higher. But honestly, I may just be justifying my need to see their animations with that.

I prefer lokhir on foot over a dragon. Goes from being unkillable + low maintenance to squishy + high micro required.
GW seemed to have cracked down on Repeaters for ironsides. All the art and animation points to CA wanting them to have repeaters. I just find it funny that we get purple sun rockets but iron sides with repeaters? Nah too lore breaking for GW apparently. Also why is Bruckner riding a generic Demigryph model instead of the unique one he had in the initial trailer?

They didnt care about dwarves since the first total war warhammer came out but now that every one is hoping they go bankrupt they finally put some effort into their jobs. How is that a huge W?

The Repeater ironsides thing is a little strange. I'm no lorebuff but i was excited to see those guns in the trailer since i was familiar with the repeaters from Vermintide. Hopefully there is still room for a RoR unit with repeaters but I am a little sad that we wont get a full unit of repeaters without mods

Unfortunately, this seems like a case of GW initially approving it, then changing their mind and being stricter with the tabletop rules. Repeater Handguns were unfortunately reserved for Engineer characters and Outriders as a weapon option, with Ironsides always just being a more heavily armored handgunner unit.

It was probably an annoying GW decision. In lore Repeater Guns are rather "rare" in the sense that they are not really produced en masse but rather passion projects of engineers, so having whole units outfitted with them would stretch that idea. But gameplay should have absolutely came first here, repeaters would have been waaaay more interesting than just better handguns. Also having the literal Nuln Marines Corps get equipped with the best guns that could be possible sounds perfectly reasonable regarding the lore to me. Don't know why they made that change.

@@elijahcross6351 Yes, the Artwork and Animations still have them with Repeater Rifles. But the Blogpost clearly stated, they will have normal handguns at release. It seems they clearly were intended to have Repeaters, but changed it suddenly on short notice before release.
At peast with the Nuln Ironsides they could've added a bayonet on their guns to at least make them look a bit more different

I don't know, without the repeaters, Nuln Ironsides might end up being sort of pointless next to Hochland Longrifles and just the humble Handgunners. With the Repeating Handguns, they would do something neither of the blackpowder units do, which is close range/high damage with the kit to survive the approach. Yeah, in campaign esp. endgame, go nuts. Not sure if the discipline ability and some armor is worth the cost in MP though.

They definitely should have used repeater guns for the Nuln Ironsides, it would have looked a lot cooler. There's a mod that's been out for a while now with these guys and they use repeaters - and frankly, the mod version looks a lot better.
I just saw your modded battle this morning after I saw TW video and it’s really cool how well it held up!
One thing I've seen about the nemesis crown that I think is really cool is it seems to massively boost relations with your own race. Kind of adds an interesting angle to using it.

Immensely disappointed about the lack of repeaters on the Ironsides, would of been the coolest unit in the dlc now it just seems like a better handgunner, if it was a veto from games workshop I’m very sad, but not surprised, if they can let CA make new content and lore changes with cathay they can let some infantry have weapons that already exist with outriders anyway. Please Indy, push for the repeaters internally!

The long rifles have hide in forest. I assumed it meant if you have them in terrain that would hide them, shooting out won't break that, but they can't just hide anywhere.
Very nice. An Elector County finally done. Only 8 more to go. Personally I have been enjoying playing as an Elector rather than the Emperor for quite awhile. Being the Fireman (or firewoman) of the Empire is just as rewarding as being an Empire builder and I never confederate. Preservation of the Electors independence should be a goal of all Electors while still preserving the integrity of the Emperor. More on theme with the Holy Roman Empire-esque nature of the Empire. Elspeth looks great along with what she brings.

She looks like an Elden ring character, I love it.
In regards to the Nuln Ironside, those might have a repeater function in the way of stacked bullets in the reloading tube (think Winchester reload tube). Also, that missile damage profile, we don't know of that 31 was across multiple bullets.

As an Empire player I'm so excited for this DLC and love almost all of it. I have very slight critiques but they seem to be common like the repeaters, longrifles and stalk, the carmine dragon head/name. The one thing I haven't heard anywhere else though is I think the Demigryph should have become a generic mount for Captains and Generals. Its in the lore, its in the art, its even on the tabletop, why isnt it in game?? The witch hunter should get a horse and Pegasus option too.
Drazhoath the Ashen also have some pretty awesome animations on foot! Really looking forward to this DLC, looks amazing so far

The new missile units made me so happy
Something I've always thought would be a cool mechanic to implement would be a knock out mechanic for mounts, where after taking a certain amount of damage the mount gets k.o'd, and then the character continues fighting on foot. I know its the type of thing that will never be implemented, but I just think it would be really cinematic, and then you'd get more opportunities to see all those cool on-foot choreographies.
Personally I love that we can unlock grape shot for cannons 👌
For the long rifles, i think with the snipe it'll apply when they are hiding in forests.

Bespoke means custom made. Usually used for clothing, but essentially they have tailored their army to meet their needs and opposition.
The upgrades on the amethyst outriders looks as though you'll be able to use them as flanking cavalry as well as ranged
If they gave Theodore the ability to instantly resurrect after dying with a 5 or 10 turn cooldown the on death effect could see more use and be not amazing but it would definitely see more value. It Should be an "oh my hero died", not a yea my hero died, or a dang it my hero died.
I agree with milk 100% on the nuln ironsides . That attack on the zombies was the old repeater one, it's gonna be fixed . Unfortunately it's gonna be fixed . I really wanted the repeaters with the bayonets . They looked so good and a spear ( bayonet) is better than a sword . I was also hoping for a much bigger unit size. I was hoping for a new front line to phase out my meele exclusive infantry late game . Everything else I found amazing but the ironsides definitely made me sad. That unit was the one I was most excited for
@ 10:35 oh yeah, those are straight up Repeater Handgun animations. I think its also interessting that you can see that the projectiles are actual bullets, not just round shot. Makes we wonder whether outriders had their animations updated aswell. Its a bummer that we don't get Ironsides with repeaters. Not blaming this one squarely on GW, but it does feel like they've taken more creative control in recent history, so I wouldn't be surprised if it was their call.

Yeah everyone's sad about ironsides . GW wanted their table top models ( that armour looks ass and out of place , more vampire count tbh ) and some people thought a new Frontline infantry firearm/ melee unit would be too OP online for multiplayer and completely change the way Empire plays . I want our old ironsides back. Lines of ironsides and arty, and some cav to cover the flanks . I only play single player tho

I have a theory CA wanted to give the Ironsides repeaters but GW got pissy about it- presumably pretty late in development due to the model issues you pointed out and them having repeaters in the trailer.

So crazy that Gelt is off setting up the tea trade monopoly, of course he is the money guy.
I run tyrion on foot because it makes it easier to tank groups. Bruckner could probably be run like that too.
Most calvary in this trilogy is the hammer that strikes against an infantry anvil. The stat line for the Knights of the Black Rose read to me as a very different style of calvary. They are a hyper mobile anvil.
At 11:00 I think the Ironsiders have the weird recoil animations cause they where originally supposed to have repeater rifles before they chose to not use them for the lore and at least in this build of the game they did not change the animations yet

The Ice Queen uses a bunch of cool ice moves too that you never see if she's not on foot. The Carmine dragon's looks are based on the miniature. I don't know how much leeway they have to change that.
Is it possible that the Amethyst units change appearance depending on their upgrade level? Could that explain the difference in unit cards?
Btw i feel like the sick on foot combat animations could be fixed by being able to dismount, im sure it could be done

Well, Ironsights have different picture of the unit inside the video - sometimes they have repeaters, sometimes they have longrifles. And by the way their hand position while they are holding longrifles seems like it’s more suited for a repeater then for a longrifle

It's clearly a rather late stage change probably due to a GW veto.
It would have been cool if most of the guns on the land ship were on the sides so you have to set up broadsides. That would encourage you to push it in front of your lines set up a shot. You could even come up with a lore excuse like they didn't have valve technology so it takes damage of it stops moving and let you set up patrol loops or something, basically you'd have to use it like it was a naval bathe
the Gardens will be nice for Co-op campaigns i wonder if you can build them for distant empire factions like Gelt? actually now that i think about it, go Gelt and Wulfheart get access to the empire passive mechanic too?
In case of the Hochland longrifles and their snipe trait without stalk... Maybe they want them to be like some kind of "real life hunter" units. So they are visible but when you put them in trees they will benefit from snipe?!
For the sync kills I think they should let you toggle mounts in battle like an ability especially for sieges where they can get on walls. It may break immersion but with a fair cooldown I think it would be alright.

The sheer amount of content and love the devs are putting into this game is staggering (all the way from W1 all those years ago). I really hope thr game continues to be popular and a money maker for CA. As this game just keeps getting richer

@ 15:48 - that buildings gives you a garrison of ARCHERS. Is that a first? Getting DLC units as garrisons? DLC units from a different piece of DLC? Like, Archers are a 'The Hunter & The Beast' thing.
I bet modders can fix the Nuln Ironsidew weapon issues. Also agree it would be AWESOME for the Master Engineer to switch weapons but doesnt seem thatll be the case

I suppose they could do an ability like Festus' auras to change weapons, but might be a bit tricky to get the ammunition coding. Although, considering they're adding the landship and thunderbarge perhaps multiple weapons systems aren't an issue.
Hot take, they could fix the Nuln Ironside shooting thing by having them fire by rank several times.

"Morally grey saviour of The Empire" yet Karl Franz has admitted himself that he has done dark shit in defense of the Empire its safe to assume the other Imperial LL do so as well though maybe its just Elspeth might paint the grey in a more darker shade compared to the others.
The question I have now is will Balthazar Gelt be suitable for a mode to give him his own "metal lore" infused units? His tech tree sort of alludes to using alchemy/metal magic/chamon to buff his units. Given Elspeth can do the same with Shyish/Death/Amethyst magic it's weird BG can't.
Malakai starting near to norsca can make overall kislev and empire experince bettter. We ll see how his ai plays out.
2:40 Indy the best solution is putting a dismount feature into the game. This would be such a boon for gameplay depth. Honestly, if they released a utility style DLC pack with dismounts for every lord/hero in the game alongside additional combat/sync animations, I would pay money for it happily.
The Carmine Dragon having a better breath attack than Star Dragons just made me wince lol These mechanics are dope.

that's beacuse carmine dragon's breath is better than star dragons on TT, star dragon Fiery Breath is an Strength 4 breath attack with flaming attack rule, while carmine dragon's attack is a Strength 10 attack with multi wounds that also ignores all armor

The Helstorm rocket upgrade for "More Rockets" is hilarious if you use the Sunmaker, it already shoots way more rockets..so ×3 More rockets it will shoot like 20 damn rockets at once. It will Burn through ammo so fast but damn..the killing power of that unit gonna be insane. Also one thing to note outriders maybe get best ability for Nuln in terms of utility. Cause they unlock the Restock ability..which insane so having 3-4 sounds like a must + master engineer for even more ammo. If they get full 3 restocks be kinda busted, maybe only 1 or 2 be more balanced.
I'm pretty glad they didn't have repeaters for the Ironsides. I really like the elite rifleman vibe they have and using repeaters would have reduced that a lot I think.
