I mean the siege of cartagena of 1741 was a complete disaster for england too... +/- 4000 spaniards and 6 ships of the line (and numerous land guns) vs 27400 English and 29 line ships, 22 frigates, 135 transports and other craft. Result: Spain victory. 800 spaniards deads vs 18000 english deads. The defeat was so disgraceful for England that the British government forbade the disclosure of the information. King George even banned learning about this in the history books. The consequence was so great for the English that they are forced to mobilize all of their remaining forces in the Caribbean. The British were therefore unable to prevent the landing of 25,000 Spanish soldiers in Italy in November and December 1741. That is i called a real victory!

She was a wonderful Queen.

"The Treaty of London of 1604 was a peace treaty, signed by Spain and England in the City of London on August 28, 1604, which marked the end of the Anglo-Spanish War of 1585-1604. Negotiations took place at Somerset House, which is why the treaty is also known as the Somerset House Conference. The conditions of the treaty were favorable to Spain,1 but at the same time Spain had to commit not to try to restore Catholicism in England."
