Elgato's New 𝘼𝘿𝙑𝘼𝙉𝘾𝙀𝘿 Capture Card - The HD60 X

    Yeah. That way I don't need to buy like 2 or 3 of them. The way I have it is I just keep it behind my TV and it's a pain to just keep swapping hdmi cords. If you were going to say just get the pcie capture card, I like just 1 USB cord going to my computer. There would be so much clutter with 4 thick hdmi cables. Heck even 2 cables is bad. Also put a switch on it so you can choose which output you want to capture.

    Elgato needs to make an internal capture card with three HDMI ports. HDMI 1 is for your Camera, HDMI 2 is for your console, and HDMI 3 is pass through for HDMI 2. If the CamLink Pro can have 4 Inputs I don’t know why a 2 Input one pass through card doesn’t exist yet.

    The 4K60S+ is capable of capturing and encoding footage at 4K 60fps while plugged in via USB 3.0, which makes me confused about why they haven't made anything like what you suggested yet. Clearly the bandwidth of the USB 3.0 protocol isn't the limiting factor.

    I wouldn't be opposed to seeing Elgato and Avermedia start dabbling into versions of their capture cards that double as HDMI matrices or switchers. They would admittedly be a niche product but they've never been afraid to make niche ones (like the Avermedia duo). For people with multiple systems, being able to switch between active inputs would be a boon (and in Elgato's case, stream deck control!) as it stands, my PS4 and my Switch both go out to a HDMI Switcher, which then goes out to a HDMI splitter (because both were cheaper than a single matrix and the switcher supports auto-switching based on input) which THEN goes out to my big TV for workouts or 'not at my desk' gaming AND to the 4K60Pro which then has a passthrough to my main monitor at my desk. Imagine having one device that could handle *all* of that for me.

    You know what would be dope? A capture card that replaces my stream PC. Like think an "Nvidia Shield" type device with all its power that is just designed to capture your games, with an inbuilt OBS operating system and just pumps everything to your desired streaming platform. Having that second rig used to be such a flex but now it so cumbersome having two PC's and one only being used part of the time. That's a whole bunch of silicon that could be going to people that are waiting to build a gaming PC with all the shortages.

    Happy to see VRR passthrough finally but I feel like the next generation consoles have been out long enough now that we should have seen at least a PCiE HDMI 2.1 capable capture card on the market capable of at least passing through 4k120 and VRR. I can understand not having an external unit like the HD 60 X. A mid to high end PC with 8 to 12 cores and/or a decent GPU can handle higher bit rates and FPS. I'd also love to see Twitch and/or KZread get off the dated H.264 standard and move to AVI. They've talked about it since late 2018. That would give creators the option to stream higher resolution and FPS content at higher bit rates. The parts and pieces are there, just looking for the software support to combine it all.

  • @mechanicallydev4536

    @mechanicallydev4536

    AV1 is used internally in KZread and Twitch. It is not common to see because we still don't have hardware encoding for AV1, and software encoding is quite hard on CPU. Intel ARC GPUs are the first ones coming with AV1 hardware encoder, and we will probably see it on AMD and Nvidia on the next gen.

  • @JadeNeoma

    @JadeNeoma

    Жыл бұрын

    @@mechanicallydev4536 @StopperJJ not only that but decoding AV1 content requires a codec update that not everyone has. phones that aren't running android 10 and some browsers will not be able to decode AV1 streams. I'm not sure about KZread but twitch doesn't even have the infrastructure to transcode streams all in H.264. there is no way twitch can switch to AV1 and have it transcode for all streamers. its possible that if they add AV1 to twitch they only allow it for Partner streams who they can guarantee transcoding to but itd still require a massive infrastructure change. The parts and the pieces aren't there

    There are really two main categories for capture cards used by streamers. First is console streamers and the second is camera capture. There is a third, but not as prevalent anymore because two PC streaming isn't required anymore, so most PC gamers can game and stream on the same computer while the elite gamers still do for performance reasons. If the Xbox or PlayStation came with a built in USB-C video out, so you could plug directly into your computer and capture the output, then I suspect that the capture card market would overnight loose a major market share. For me I would like to see Microsoft and Sony make a "streamer" version of their consoles with built in outputs, so you can capture in real-time directly from the console to your PC at native framerates and resolutions. You could also take this the other way if the consoles had tighter integration with streaming software allowing you to stream from the console with all the benefits of a PC. This is all for the ability to lower the entry point for streaming and making it more accessible, so people gravitate to one console or the other based on features they can get.

    What I want from Capture Cards, is to be able to record and stream more things, like games off of phones and tablets (since Epocam isn't on Android) PC free recording like the Live gamer portable series (I know Elgato has the One capture card that does this, but I want it to be more affordable, 400 is Steep) The ability to either use SD cards OR Portable Hard drive to send recorded footage to. I mostly want the PC free feature, since not everyone has a computer readily available and may need to travel light to certain places. OOH Bonus one. Maybe a way for this PC free recording capture card to connect to the Wave Mic, as all previous PC free capture cards use the 3.5 3/4 pole jack, Why not upgrade that jack to a USB 3.0 Type C, and for Elgato specifically, the Wave mic.

I think that would be the end all. because you could just chuck it in a case with the computer somewhere or have it on your desk. And if it's good enough you should be able to either remote in or pull up a preview to stick on a second monitor on the main pc. Removing the need for an extra monitor, mouse, keyboard and headset. The one issue a lot of us ElGato capture card users end up having with one or the other capture cards (specially the external ones) is #1. A delay when viewing gameplay. While the HD60 Pro and 4KPro (internal capture cards) are advertised as "instant gameplay" there is still some delay, the HD60 and the HD60S+ have a much longer delay. And #2. Sound and video sync issues...all of ElGato capture cards gave me the same issue with the exception of the HD60 PRO4K (internal one), which was that the longer you stream, the longer a desync in audio you would get, the video will remain the same but the audio would start to fall behind, so you see gameplay but with a delay in the audio...see explosion but you hear the BOOM a second or two later. This could temporarily be fixed by refreshing the capture card mid-stream and permanently be fixed by splitting the audio and video via adapter and sending the audio to the PC or GOXLR via optic line, that way you have a video and audio feed in two separate channels with no delay which is an issue if your motherboard doesnt have a line in and or if you dont have a GOXLR. Hoping that new capture cards dont have either one of this issues and a quality of life zero delay in gameplay. Id pay more for a card that had a extra BUFF in RAM or processing power so that there is not gameplay delay or sound desync with having the option of being an internal or external peripheral. Your thoughts are welcome! Thanks in advance!

    Likely too old a video to get a response but- I used to stream on a dual PC setup, and I really enjoyed taking the load off the gaming PC. Since taking a break and upgrading my gaming PC, I tried to restore my setup and realized my capture card will no longer work as my gaming PC is running at 2560x1440 170hz and my streaming PC is running at 1080p 60fps. Would this allow me to maintain my dual PC setup and not see any weird effects like Nvidia G-Sync disabling?

    So do you still need to use a splitter box to filter out the HDCP protection if you wanna capture mobile phone gameplay? I love the elgato stuff but I stopped using the HD60+ because you have to use a damn splitter to be able to capture and record/stream gameplay from my phone, if you can just plug it in and go without needing a splitter I'll be ordering 1 immediately, can anyone confirm? Do you still need a splitter?

    I'd like to see content creation devices go further, being able to capture with out the need for an OBS or extra software. A device that is both the capture card and the broadcasting software all roll into one.

    I love the feature where it can receive 120fps and downscale to 60fps. Are there any budget cards that have this functionality or is this specific to this interface and the aver media?

    I am now using the HD60 X with dual PC (Gaming PC + Gaming Laptop) setup and I had 2 problems with the HD60 X that I did not have with the HD60 S. #1 I could not clone my 1080p 360hz display with my gaming PC even setting the card at 1080P . Even called Elgato and couldn't figure it out. Gaming PC clones 100% perfect on 1440P though! Still having an issue with it though...#2 problem I am having is I run analog game/chat audio from my stream port on Astro A40 Mixamp to the capture card to make an easy EQ setup of audio/chat mix. Realized after stream that the audio is delayed from video about 2-3 seconds. I had to run the aux cable to my gaming laptop mic port. Bummer there because it doesn't sound as good...maybe some bugs that can be fixed with an update?

    I have an Xbox Series X and play at 1440p @120hz, and I’m wondering if there is any possible way for me to record gameplay without the need for a capture card? It sucks, the Twitch feature on Xbox just doesn’t work. I play Apex Legends, and it will be streaming, than all the sudden it will stop streaming after I start lagging in Apex. So it’s not reliable either. Do you think my only options is to buy the new Elgato HD60 X?

    Would love to see a capture card that has multiple inputs for those who have multiple consoles we like to stream from. That way, we don't have to rely on a splitter to make streaming more convenient.

    I would like them in the future to work more like a GPU, so no matter what kind you buy, you always can update it with drivers, so they dont become obsolete. With the new HD60X, make some top tier software for it, which can be updated like GPU drivers. I dont know if thats a thing or not, or the price just would be to high if they ever did that

    For the last couple of years I have been using the HD60S+, and it's been a solid unit, I did have a stutter issue but I fixed it pretty quick. A couple of months ago I had to downsize my monitor, and the new monitor I purchased no matter what I did, I couldn't get a signal from my XSX... So I ended up purchasing the HD60X, which worked a treat... But I noticed that there was stuttering in my recordings. Nothing I have troubleshooted was working. I went to Reddit, but nothing. Found someone who had the stuttering issue as me, but they haven't been able to fix it either. So I reached out to Elgato (waiting for them to get back to me). This morning my husband suggested to plug the HD60S+ back in to see if it will actually work this time. Well, no idea HOW but it works (signal & no stuttering)! I spent $300 for this HD60X. I'm disappointed & have no use for it!

    Correct me if Im wrong but cant the hd60+ do hdr at 60 fps maybe its only 1080 but the new one cant cap above 30 hdr because it forces you to go 4k? Ah it matches through down scaling ok. Personally my issue with hd60s+ for dual pc is I need my 2nd pc on for my capture card to pass through where some cap cards let you have your 2nd pc off and still pass through so you only need the 2nd one on to record. I opted for the Avermedia portable 4k pass through. It might not have hdr but being able to turn your second pc off is just really nice.

    If anyone knows, I use Elgato 4K60pro Mk.2 & with a dual pc streaming setup and I can't figure out how to have my corsair virtuoso xt headphones dolby atmos spatial sorround sound to be left enabled when Using my streaming PC to capture the sound through the capture card. I looked the capture card information up and it said it does not support it, fine. But maybe there's a fix or another capture card that does support it. I'm more interested in being able to hear it than to record/stream the sound over but obviously both would be best. ;/
