So I play Xbox and want to try streaming. However, stream can’t hear game chat. Would this work to allow stream to hear those I’m playing with that don’t play Xbox? Also if I do this, do I need a separate mic and if so do I plug it into my pc, cause I only see one jack on the capture card.

@@PovElijah yes please, right now I just have a 4K ultra hd usb3.0 hdmi video capture card. Nothing special but real cheap, like 30$. Right now I have it so that 2 hdmi ports connect to the my Xbox and tv. I also have an Elgato chat link connected to my wired headset. Not only did it not stream game chat, but was also staticy and slightly glitchy. Would the Elgato capture card fix this? Headset was old, have a new wireless one but need and adapter to plug into headset, doesn’t have a jack port.

I can't even tell you how helpful this is! I am in the exact scenario where I was debating upgrading from S+ to the X. I haven't made up my mind yet, but at least I have the info.

My HD60x just arrived and I tried figuring out 120fps recording on Elgato’s app. I found this directly from their site “To record the full 120Hz signal into a 120fps video, other software such as OBS Studio must be used and configured to record at 120fps. “ Sucks their app can’t do it , flashback 120fps recording would be AMAZING

I have a late 2015 Macbook air, and currently have Elgato HD60 with a chat link pro connected to my controller as well a mic connected to my mac. my question is will I have any problems hearing/capturing game chat or party chat if I upgrade to the hd60 X? and will I be able to capture my own voice as well with the set up? sorry if i don’t make sense, but thank you again

the S+ would be fine for me, but the X is the exact same price new and is basically an upgrade in every way + future proof, so I'll go with that

I have been waiting for your review! I got the HD60x for my PS5/M1 Mac set up and it works great. Glad I don’t need the Game Capture app anymore because it was so bad 😭 the analog audio and HDMI automatically switches on mine without needing to go into the Game Capture app like the HD60+ made me do. It just changes in OBS for me.

Thanks for the review, helps a bunch. I play natively in 4k @ 160hz, but unfortunately I don't think any reasonable priced cards will do that for me, so going to have to downgrade to 4k @ 60hz.

But with the Mk2 you can play in 4k120hz but stream/recording "only" in 4k60hz.

On the hd60 s+ i had to turn off hdr on my setup. With the hd60 x can you run with hdr enabled? I think on the xbox it was a yuv 4.2.2 that i had to turn off to get it to work. I don't record often but when i play i want my 4k with hdr whether im recording or not.

I only game in 1080p at 90fps to my monitor so the s+ does me good 💯🔥 streaming is phenomenal with the setup paired with OBS streaming at 1080p60 and a nice face cam 💫

You can change the audio from OBS. You click on the capture, and then settings. Then click audio.

when you go to edit the video after using these devices is your voice separate from game audio? I have been trying to figure out how to separate my voice audio from the game audio so it isn't mixed and it makes subtitling easier aswell as adjusting volumes easier. this is for console recording if anyone can leave a link or some tips I appreciate it

If Im running a gaming laptop (legion 7 slim 7) do you think I should still have the usb c to usb c or can I just use a regular one? (I ask this because you are using a basic mac whilst i have a gaming laptop designed for performance). love your videos, bought the hd60x, very easy to set up but i think my mac might be too old, seems like i can only record in 720p 30fps, there is stuttering. should have i gone with the one that records directly to sd card? because then i can still use the mac to do some light editing on the videos which i have tested works fine on imovie ?

If you don’t have 120fps enabled or a display for it, you can wait on this capture card

6:32 I was hoping there was a solution to that problem without me having to use the chat link for less wires because on my HD60S there literally no latency and I play my games using the hdmi audio. I use my AstroA40s to stream with.

I would just continue listening over hdmi to not have the wires. The latency is almost 0

So do I only need one of these in order to just connect to my gaming laptop and use as my tv? Or is anything else required just to play I don’t really care about streaming I don’t do any of that just game lol

I got my new monitor today and I can confirm that the 120hz is very good.

You need to update your stream settings. You have your quality either set to low, or bitrate is too low

Does this work with iPad Pro I have an elgato hd60s the old one and I already noticed upon getting my new iPad Pro that it doesn’t work with it. It shows the screen but then crashes like 5 seconds in. I tested it with my iPhone and it works fine. And yes I do have the lightning adapter for the iPad Pro.

I have the new MacBook Pro and I can't get the game footage to show up in the "Elgato Game Capture" app ...It passes through to my tv and the app is picking up the audio from the hd60x but it's not recognizing the gameplay footage. My Hd60 S+ works just fine but I can't get the x to show up :(

If you’re playing right off your PC and not using a dual setup, you don’t necessarily need a capture card. Overlays and alerts can be applied via streamlabs or stream elements browser source links

It’s for recording game audio and chat from your controller. The mic will go through for your team to hear you only. You still need another mic for commentary on your stream software. You didn't mention if I could record * to * an ipad instead of a computer. I got an iPad Pro and my hd 60 s (no +) doesn't work with it.

I'm using the xbox wireless headset , so if I'm streaming to a PC / OBS will it record chat audio from the wireless headset? I'd rather not use a wired headset with chat link cable if I don't have to. I just want to broadcast (myself) while I'm in discord for xbox. When you stream directly to twitch using the xbox headset it works fine, but I'm not sure if it will work thru the capture card to OBS. I would assume that I have the option of connecting my xbox wireless headset directly to my PC and streaming from that input, but I didnt know if it was necessary

Yes they both work on Mac, plug and play. For HD60X you just can’t switch to analog or use chat link cable when paired with Mac.

That would help you, direct connection is the way to go. Get the godspin cable I note in the video. And make sure you get the S+ not the S

What computer are you using? Sound like there may be a resource issue if things are going wrong when streaming. Are you using the same settings for recording and streaming? Also feel free to join my discord or DM on my socials for a quicker response.

You can go with either capture depending on if you need to pass 120 or 60 frames. no extra stuff will be needed for Xbox setup.

Looking at this versus the Asus cuk version any thoughts?

The only way you can record audio off capture using M1 Mac is via hdmi, you won’t be able to switch any of the elgato capture cards to analog on M1 macs unfortunately
