I hope fully wireless monitors never become popular as that will be annoying.120hz, 4k 1.2 billion colors, HDR 700, and other stuff like those will take a lot of power so having it plugged in will be better than having it wireless. More so if it is a 8k or 12k monitor.

@@yumri4 What does any of that have to do with wireless monitors? If battery tech and monitor tech advances a lot, and you can get a day or so of usage @ high resolution, high refresh rate HDR out of a quickly swappable battery/charging overnight, there's no reason why it'd be bad. I don't see the appeal though, except if you need portability, but when do you need that in combination with super high end features...

@@jstan5802 Even the highest end gaming laptops costing upwards 4000$ come with a lot of compromises. Mediocre battery life (and mediocre performance while on battery), loud under load, heavy. But yeah, if you need something portable, it's the main option. Small form factor pc's might be better for broken family/lan parties, but not for hauling around every single day.

Growing up in the 80's it was common to see coaxial cables running everywhere in the house so I asked my parents why we don't have a device that could send the signal like the remote does. Their response was that would never work and to think people have found a way to make it work

Display manufacturers really need to get together and form a standard for this. There is a lot of surface area if this will work through the lcd and if not, I'm ok with a bezel if it means fully wireless display. That little stick works at 20m, all you'd need is around 10m for a very large room. I'm sure 10-15 antennas that size would fit around a bigger display.

If this was built into monitors, with antenae extending to the corners of the display for optimal reception, it would solve the path blocking issue. The antenae would likely be spaced far enough apart that no more than 2 of them would ever be blocked unless it was intentional, like removing the monitor from the room etc.

In theory it was really good and it was functional but you had to plug the Tablet or Notebook to power cuz battery life would be destroyed. I did some tests and observed Battery life going from 6 hrs to just 50 minutes. Thunderbolt and USB-C docks were a natural progression cuz why not if you need to be plugged into power anyway for mobile devices. It was pretty cool to connect things wirelessly like monitors and external drives and seeing them pop up as if they were directly connected.

I seriously don't want to ditch cables. I just want to plug in things to ports and forget about it. No charging things. Oh WAIT. What if you use wireless charging? That also uses a cable to connect the wireless charger to the wall.

I get the convenience but I want a wireless future to be optional. I feel like it would personally be a pain to pair a BT headset with all of your devices instead of just using a 3.5mm headphone jack to instantly connect it. Not to mention better sound quality (or no BT compression and codecs, correct me if I am wrong). I just like wires right now because it ties even our legacy devices together, which I use a lot. No headphone jack on a phone kills it for me.

I have "marmitek gigaview 911" at home for my projector and I'm loving it. Their price..... € 380,00 yikes! But it was worth it! It saved me the hasle of pulling cables (especially as I was renting and wasn't allowed to do so). I'd love to see more videos about wireless HDMI on the channel. With different brands such as Marmitek. You could achieve the same with casting a chromecast but for games the delay was killing. Wireless HDMI was the way to go.

Wireless mice and kb make sense being more comfortable; PC monitors are stationary as well as the PCs themselves, so there is little gain in connecting them wirelessly. I see the main uses of HDMI transmitters in: connecting your laptop to a projector for a presentation, connecting some video source to a TV in the living room, professional monitoring, some kinds of surveillance maybe. Cases when wires would be inconvenient or impossible to use. Not gaming. For gaming, I recently had to get a fiberoptic cable, because copper HDMI cables capable of 4K@120 are 3-metre maximum, which isn't enough for my TV. I know, many folks are happy with their 1080p displays, but again, who needs a wireless 23" PC monitor?

@@Chris-hw4mq I wouldn’t say it’s “useless”, as he’s just showing us what someone is working on. He did also state that this *isn’t* the product for those who are into competitive gaming, as it doesn’t yet support high frame rates AND high resolutions. However, 4K/30 is more than good enough to have a “wireless” (there’s still cables involved, though) projector or display for watching movies and non-competitive games.

@@Chris-hw4mq Well, I can say that companies could have kept 1080p resolutions around for a bit by improving frame and refresh rates. The 60 fps on 1080p bothers me more than my old CRT running 1280x1024 at 75 Hz. I definitely notice the flicker at 60 Hz and it gives me a headache. I can't imagine what 60 fps looks like at UHD.
