I have had mine for a couple weeks now and I really like it! Here is a useful tip: Each time you adjust the "secondary settings" - all of your changes will then be retained in memory - even after power is disconnected from the unit - or until you go into the secondary settings mode again and change them, or until you do a factory "reset". But, because of this "retained memory" feature, that means for 9 out of the 11 Canyon MODE positions you can actually have a simple saved "favorite" preset because of the retained "MEMORY" function. So if you find one you love and want to continue to use as you have it, its there for you again automatically. The LOOP will also retain the last loop in memory as well. :-)

thank you tom! grabbed one of these from a local guitar shop and everybody (even the staff) assumed the modulated reverb was broken, but it was just the setting dialled to the ring mod setting! thank you! i now dont have to take it back! favorite new pedal for sure!

Great review & demo... I have this pedal & it IS amazing! I mainly use the "Shimmer" mode effect with volume swells. Agreed, the only design flaw I find w/it is the mode settings knob being inaccurate & hard to see on occasion, but could be easily managed by marking a line perhaps. I subscribed to your channel & will keep an eye for future reviews!

Tom Quayle is amazing, I would stay just to hear him play. I have one of these on the way so to see a demo by one of my favorite guitarists is awesome

Electro Harmonix has a few pedals like this (Canyon Delay, Oceans 11 Reverb), you buy it for Delay or Reverb, and they do those things, but the Delay and Reverb are the absolute minimal of what the pedal does. There are almost too many features in them. Crazy tones. If anyone out there with no fx pedals wanted to dabble into pedals, specifically some kind of modulation pedal, just one pedal, and they asked me I wouldn't even know which of those two pedals I'd recommend. They are both awesome. I have 3 modern EHX pedals Canyon Delay, Oceans Eleven, and the Eddy Vibrato/Chorus and they are all super technical space machines. Really awesome. I get a long weekend coming up, I can't wait to delve into the Canyon. When I bought the Oceans Eleven first it was between that and the Canyon. I really wanted Reverb, and I have an analog Delay so I went with the Oceans. Both pedals feature strange Synth/Cello type tones so that didn't really sway me one way or another. They both do it and I knew eventually I'd get the other anyway.

I def want one of these. Been eyeballing this unit for years... but I already had a delay so its been tough to justify buying it yet! But I honestly like this better than the one I use.

I paused this video right when you mentioned the Memory Man delay watched a guy on a different channel do a shootout of a bunch of the different MM pedals that have come out, came back started watching again at the 8:55 point and holy shit does it sound just like a real Memory Man pedal!!

I've just got an amazing tone of the 'memory man' mode and from the 'reverb/delay' mode just by following the instructions you made. I play gospel music and bought this pedal in order to get some "ambient" sounds.

I cant recommend the Reverb / Tape and DMM settings enough...the secondary functions for the reverb are VERY useful. You can make it darker and larger / smaller decay which yields some spectacular results when you crank up the feedback (BIG AMBIENT SOUNDS! almost could loop yourself!!). When set to quicker delay times it could sound like the prettiest reverb you've ever heard. EHX KILLED IT with this pedal!

Excellent work! I love this Delay!! It’s very unique and wired in some way. We did a review of the Boss DD8 and it was great too but more conventional compared to the Canyon. Both are pretty good though. 🎼

A great pedal!.. I am using it with, ehx Attack &Decay!.. Super!

I guess it’s better to get it as an additional effect, but not as a first/main one.. I kinda really like it, but it somehow is missing something that the boss has. I guess this one is just more specific and deep into the ambient area, and the boss is a standard thing and a great base, on which you can expand your sound. What do you think?

Great demo, as ever from Mr. Quayle.... BUT, digression coming... Please Tom, please review the new Quintessence Harmonizer. I have seen a few demos elsewhere, but, as this pedal requires some actual musical knowledge to get the best out of it, those demos left something to be desired, as the users seemed a bit fazed by the theory bit. Can't think of anyone who would be able to demo this better than you.

How do you delete your loops? What if I don’t want them forever stored.

Does it has Analog-Dry signal path?

I can't believe how affordable this pedal is, how are they getting away with that? Is it because it's digital? It has so many features the value is awesome and I really dig EHX, they are always creative and a bit outside the box.

Yeah. Me too. Let's thank digital technology! The delay, mod delay, reverb and shimmer, looper functions, each is worth the price of the pedal alone

You put the delay on and then you play these fast scalar runs so the delays becomes mess, it's an effect in itself to do that and interesting to hear I'll give you that, but some slower playing, especially on the Reverse verb would have been nice to hear

Hi sir. My i used the canyon on a distored amp and it sounds too bad. What would be the problem? Im placing the canyon in my chain coz no fx loop. Should i get an od pedal an use the clean channel of my amp?

Yes if you run into a dirty amp, sometimes it can get harsh. Try running into clean amp and use dirt pedal and place the delay I believe after the dirt in the chain. Guitar>Overdrive>Delay>Amp.

Don’t buy this pedal if you want to use single power supply for all pedals. EHX sell power supply with this pedal because it requires not 9, but 9.6 volt. I have two great power supplies, and none of them works great with this pedal. Shimmer and octave mode glitch like hell with popping sounds all over. So I failed at minimizing power supplies in my chain. I have to use 3 right now. One for normal pedals, one for whammy, one specifically with Canyon. This sucks, cause I can’t return it to the shop, as it works with it’s native power supply.

I use it with the same PSU as all my other pedals and I have not had those problems. I do run my whammy on its own PSU though.

i wonder if, the loop can been used with any of the efect from the canyon, or just the dry clean sound?

It's the only weakness as far as I can tell. By selecting the loop function you cannot select any of the other features, so it's pretty redundant. Better off having a separate looper.

Stop the noise! Can't get it to reset, get rid of everything so I can test it, then start over clean. It wants to retain my last entry. I can erase some of it, but not the original, messed up rhythm track. Help.

That is why you need the 200.00 full size model. That will bring you to where you want to go. At least with an inexpensive pedal. Do not forget the pedal.

If you look hard enough you can find the full size for 200.00 ,buying this model is a mistake.d ig deep and find the lousy 40.00 make dinner and skip McDonalds. There is it is a real kick ass pedal. 200.00 is what you need. 160.00 buys a taste 200.00 buys you a feast .

He's right you can find a used one on reverb for around 200 but new they are like, 270 and I wouldn't pay that. As for everything else going on in that comment, idk man, homie is probably turnt and typing on his phone

Reverse "TAPE" Sound ? Litterly NO SUCH THING. ( Unless... during Recording in a Multi Track TAPE Studio, & Flip the tape over) & Play FOREWARD to BACKWARD Music... & flip it around Again.. That's the ONLY way it was done. Hendrix & Beatles ect.. I have yet to find a pedal that Nails that sound. [ This Might do it... BUT NO ONE Even Understands & sets it up for that. [ 1, repeat.. Think ahead.. & play "Ahead " of where you want the note to land. ] Also "Run away delay Where I turn down the "Effect" accordingly, & the End or any appropriate part of a song, & can (put it in various keys" Only 1 pedal I own can do that. I'm looking for a pedal ( That is programmable, that does ALL of the Above & NO, EVENTIDE Doesn't come close. HELP... !
