    My first Sonata was a 2009 base model. I loved it. I thought I'd look into an update in 2019. But then my salesman (Same one I bought the first car from with great integrity) told me they were completely redesigning it in 2020. I absolutely loved the new model and all the features so I patiently waited till they finally hit the dealerships. I graduated from the most basic model to the fully loaded one and have not regretted it for a moment. As a senior, I am thrilled with all the safety features & would never want a car without them anymore. By the way, in the pictures, I actually like the 2020 styling better than the redesign! Guess I'd have to see it in person. Hopefully, they'll offer it with color options that aren't your basic non- colors (ie. variations of black & white.) I bought the hot red one & love it!

    Been driving Hyundais since 2012. Have upgraded from Elantra to Sonata to Tucson to Santa Fe to Palisade. I’ve never had any major trouble. Only maintenance work done. I’ll never drive anything but a Hyundai. Just bought my 16 yr old a one owner 2013 Sonata. She loves it and all her friends are so jealous. She’s going to want to upgrade to the 2024 when she see this. But she’ll have to wait til she graduates. Might make a good Grad Present if she keeps them A’s coming. And I also have to give a Big Shout out to Mike Morgan Hyundai Dealership and Service Department in Shreveport, LA. They are the Bomb and have always treated me with respect and professionalism and make me feel like I’m their priority. Great Job, Hyundai.

    Did you bring back your electric blue color? That is the best color Hyundai ever had and a small part of why I got my 2017 Elantra. I feel in the North it's good you finally put AWD in the Sonata to compete with the Japanese brands. If you also put AWD in the Elantra that could be a good marketing sceem too and advertise the higher winter driving confidence.

And yet, over the past 2 years I was very much leaning towards Sonata. I was never in love with the 'catfish' front design, and so initially thought the Sonata refresh to be really cool, but the design got old really quick. I think the exterior and interior design of Elantra all flows together much nicer.

    @@squids9628 Does the Elantra come with mechanical lockup LSD? I've driven both the FL5 and the 23 Elantra. Have you? The gearbox and steering in the FL5 is way more refined than the Elantra. I'm not saying the Elantra is a crap car by any means. I like it and for the price I think it's good value, but let's not compare apples to oranges. The type R is by far a superior car

  • @NGSMODE

    @NGSMODE

    10 ай бұрын

    @slyarsenal The Electronic LSD of the Elantra N is far superior to any mechanical LSD in it's segment. Every serious reviewer to have ever compared these cars says that for a reason. People want to convince themselves that the Type R is far superior because of all the hype that was built up around it and the insane markups, but it's all just badge bias at the end of the day. An i30N (Europe's equivalent of the EN) ran a better time on the Nürburgring with an added passenger and wet track conditions than the official Type R record of 7:44.88: kzread.info/dash/bejne/iIurwc2qp7meXdo.htmlsi=EsIq4pVG5Gh_e23Y Beat that Type R by nearly a second. Imagine what times Hyundai would hit if they actually tried to do an official run. The N Division mostly only uses the Ring for testing. Explain to me how the Type R is better? Maybe marginally but that doesn't justify it's cost at all. The Type R that did the official fwd record was a decked out Euro spec with weight reduction, improved tires, aero, tighter gear ratios and over 23 pounds of boost lol. No showroom Honda can do that. Stock Hyundai N's are beating it without even trying. Especially DCT's. They walk Type R's all day due to the superior lsd and transmission despite having less HP on paper. A driver mod might give either car an advantage, but mech lsd's cannot beat electronic, which is essentially computer controlled power delivery. It's proven to be more quick and precise than a mechanical Lockup system, which is why N's handle more smoothly through corners. Only their suspension stiffness is harsh, which is to be expected on a 35K track car.

  • @slyarsenal

    @@NGSMODE electronic LSD is never superior to mechanical LSD lol. People love to compare stats but few actually drive both cars to properly compare. The Type R is a special car. It has pedigree and overall the build quality is higher and more refined. This is coming from a person who is actually considering a Hyundai Sonata 2024. If I was younger, I would defintely buy the FL5

    I've had my Elantra GT since 2013, and before that another Elantra GT since 1998. One had the moon roof and my current ride has the panoramic sunroof. I loved those cars, but I am not loving the 2024 redesign. I am not interested in "aggressive" or "playful" or whatever. Is there even a GT version available? Can you still work the new vehicles with a key fob (sometimes I leave my phone in the car)

    Idk why you want the GT to remain. Those cars were not that great (at least not by today's standards). Just look into the n-line, Sel, or hybrid if you want a basic car. And yes, they have a full smart key fob and bluelink app for the phone.

    @@kjcl90I agree that it's lit, but Hyundai/Kia keep putting awd in the wrong cars. Awd in the naturally aspirated Sonata over the 290 hp 2.5L Turbo Sonata is ridiculous imo.

  • @NGSMODE

    @NGSMODE

    10 ай бұрын

    @kjcl90 Yep, it doesn't. I looked it up and it says that the standard 191 hp Sonata is getting awd, not the n-line. The Sonata N-line would be ok as fwd if it atleast had an e-lsd, but they couldn't even give it that. The Elantra N is perfect with its fwd e-lsd, but also much lighter and sportier so that's an exception.

  • @NGSMODE

    @NGSMODE

    @@kjcl90Kia also made the same frustrating choice with the K5. They gave the lower 180 hp trim awd, and the 2.5L 290 hp turbo K5 GT fwd with no lsd. All that just so the Stinger would be more desirable, but now they're phasing it out regardless. Such stupid choices on otherwise excellent cars. This is precisely why only the N models are actually worth it over N-line and GT.
