시놉시스: 딸이 풀어놓는 엄마와 아빠의 이야기이다. 엄마는 첫눈에 반한 아빠와 결혼하고, 시부모가 계신 집으로 들어가 20년을 전업주부로 살다가 상담사로 일하며 집안의 가장이 된 지 10년이 지났다. 자기만의 방을 가져본 적이 없는 엄마는 시어머니의 배려로 큰 방을 가지게 되었고, 이후 우여곡절 끝에 2층을 자신만의 작업공간으로 꾸민다. 별일 없이 집에서 생활하는 아빠와, 전업주부일 때처럼 여전히 살림을 도맡아야 하는 엄마 사이에 놓인 위태로움은 그냥저냥 묻힌다. 한 사람의 공간은 그의 존재를 말해준다. 엄마에게 독립된 공간은 자신의 존재 증명인데 집의 소유권이 없는 엄마는 여전히 객식구처럼 느낀다고 말한다. 집을 두고 벌어진 갈등은 외할아버지의 장례식에서 폭발한다. 가족을 찍는 일에는 큰 용기가 필요하고, 드라마에는 악역이 필요하므로 아빠도 그 역할을 기꺼이 받아 들인다. 집의 사계절을 온전히 담은 촬영 과정에서 1인칭 관찰자인 감독도, 엄마도, 아빠도 새로운 결심을 한다. 영화 찍기가 변화시키는 삶의 여정을 지켜보는 재미와 여운이 풍성한 작품이다.
A story of a mom and a dad told by their daughter. Mom fell for dad
at first sight and married him. Since then, she lived in her parents-in-law’s house for 20 years as a housewife, and for the past 10 years, she has been
the breadwinner working as a counselor. Mom, who had never owned a room, finally gets the big room that her mother-in-law offers, and after many complications, she gets to make the second floor her workspace. A subtle crack between dad, who idles at home, and mom, who still has to do house chores like she did when she was a full-time housewife, is somehow buried on the surface. A person’s space speaks to his or her existence. An independent space is proof of mom’s existence, but she says she still feels like a guest as she doesn’t hold ownership over the house. The conflict over the house explodes at the funeral of mom’s father. Filming family takes a lot of courage, and dramas need a villain, so dad willingly accepts the role. In the process of wholly filming the four seasons of the house, the first-person observer director, mom, and dad make new resolutions. The film is packed with joyful moments and lingering emotions, and it invites us to witness how filmmaking changeslifejourneys.
