시놉시스: 독학으로 라멘을 배운 우에다 마사모토와 그의 아내 가즈코는 도쿄에서 40년 넘게 그들의 라멘 가게 비젠테이를 운영 중이다. 가게 단골손님 수도 제법 되어서 친밀한 공동체 공간을 형성한 지 오래다. 주말에 두 부부는 함께 농촌 곳곳을 누비며 배, 죽순, 산마 등을 수확한다. 그 무엇도 영원하지 않고, 주인장도 언젠가 은퇴해야 한다는 사실을 아는 이 공간의 모든 이들은 남은 시간에 최선을 다하고자 한다. 바로 기가 막히게 맛있고 영혼을 풍요롭게 하는 음식과 특별한 공간에서 만난 인연의 소중함에 진정으로 감사하는 것으로 말이다.
Self-taught ramen master Ueda Masamoto and his wife Kazuko have run their Tokyo ramen shop, Bizentei, for more than 40 years. Scores of devoted customers have joined them in creating an intimate place of community. On the weekends, they venture together across the Japanese countryside, harvesting pears, bamboo shoots, and wild mountain yams. Acknowledging that nothing lasts forever and that the master must retire someday, everyone resolves to make the best of what time remains - to truly appreciate this special place, this uniquely delicious and soul- nourishing food, and this special community of friends before it is gone forever.
