Ugh, I don't like cutting sheet metal that much. Have seen it done and the current area works for me now :-)

I have the K40 and The gantry is the biggest piece of junk of the whole unit. Doing coasters 6 at a time doing the first set good second set 1/2 way thru jumps next set different set mess up got to the point the I built and new bigger box out of wood and took everything out of the K40. Installed it into the new box and turn a 23 inch by 26 inch diode laser gantry into the new gantry for the K40 now everything works great. Plus I have a larger area to laser.

Not really for ease of use I prefer the diode laser by far! However for this you get a greater range of materials which can be cut...

Try going to kzread.info/dash/bejne/ea2q1s-Ig7iTpcY.html Two biggest problems I had was finding the NEMA stepper motors the K40 uses 0.9Deg and all the Diode laser units are 1.8deg. For the bed I used a grid that they use in ceiling lights. All thread at each corner with a spring over each one so I can tighten the nut and it keeps tension on it and level. Hardest was getting the laser alignment. I had to shoot the laser so many times that I got a 2 inch PVC pipe same length as the laser tube put an end cap on it drilled the center and put a red 9v laser from amazon mounted where the laser tube would be and I could keep it on and align the mirrors that way. Also installed a Cohesion board. I used the original mirrors but plan in changing them.
