Have you looked at the alignment of the Y axis tube on the left side of the gantry? I took my new K40 apart mainly because of a number of broken parts. When I did, just as you say, out of alignment for sure. I got it as close as possible and aligned the beam. I still haven’t used it yet, hopefully tomorrow. Oh yeah, the tube on the left side I found the majority of the bolts loose on the gantry as well. I tried to align that tube up, finally after about 2 hours of fiddling I got it within 6-10,000. Hopefully that’ll be good enough. Talk about crudely made! Thank god I have some experience with 3D printers, lol

Can you advise what size screws and hardware you used to replace the stock? I'm having a issue with mine and need to take it out and do this alignment.

could you help us , our k40 laser wont return to top left / home , we go to start the machine to start engraving and it starts to return to home postion but then moves to the right slowly then jumps alittle to the right wont return to top left unless i realease the rail and move it to top left

Knowing what you know now would you still buy a K40 or invest in a more expensive machine?

If you have the money and not looking for something to work on buy up no question. My suggestion is jump to a 60 watt unit at least and if your using for a business spring for the 100 watt you will not be disappointed...

A K40 is "what can I kinda, sorta do with a laser when it just barely punches through a 1/8th inch MDF sheet or acrylic?" as a hobbyist or possibly proof of concept
